I Programmed an Extremely Efficient ICE CREAM FACTORY! - 20th Century Food Court

- Last Call BBS Part 3 - we all scream for ice cream. I'm returning to 20th Century Food Court because it's sweet, not unlike the ice cream I'm shipping. I will still check out some other games within Last Call BBS, but my priority lies here!

You may already know this, but this game appears to be heavily inspired by a sort of musical instrument usually referred to as “modular synthesizers” and so some of the modules on the left share names with the real life equivalents, for example sequencers
Yeah it's made by Zachtronics. A lot of their stuff is basically sequencer video games. Good stuff.
Also gives me some strong vibes of some Programmable Logic Controllers.
Thought I was about to watch an Andrew Huang video from the thumbnail :p
@@MeeTonToE my Dad Said this is basically About PLCs, so probably true.
It’s a bit of all of the above comments. Modular Synthesizers were inspired by the original factory automation methodology of ladder transistor array that were connected like the modules in the game. The ladder transistor arrays also inspired the Ladder Logic used to program PLC’s used in industrial automation today. Kinda cool having it come full circle with a game company inspired by modular synths building a factory automation game :D
It's crazy how much more difficult starting negative on the counters makes things, I think the piece you're missing there is just that if you have the number of scoops positive and sensing as -1 you can entirely remove the sequencers (with a confusing mess of multimixers in my case, but hey, it works). It will also make some of the future levels a *lot* more simple
I know you've probably already recorded episodes in advance and figured this out, but I hope it helps if you haven't :)
He did in fact not make more videos, guess it got too difficult. "Probably just got bored. im just salty"
Here's a tip for saving inputs for later. Get two small counters. Hook up choc to +1 on one counter, and vanilla to +1 on the other counter. They're now NOT gates. The first counter is 0 if vanilla is needed, the second counter is 0 if chocolate is needed, and both are 0 if twist. Boom. Now you can use a couple of AND mixers with a third counter to output the appropriate stuff.
Top percentile likely uses a single sequencer to do everything, including ejecting the item, with 2"and" multimixers to determine if we're getting choco/vanilla/twist
Yeah this is what I was thinking too, one sequencer that makes a full twirl icecream by default and then two AND gates linked to both a time and a flavour input.
Yep... this is almost immediately what my computer scientist brain went to... 😹
I did it with no sequencers and instead a big counter that uses 3 amounts for the 3 sizes, and the last one to decrease 1 by one.
I have really been enjoying this series glad to see it continued!
Same
Me too! Anyways time to pull up the playlist and see which episode is next 😊
Bad news guys 😢
I really love watching these more complex games Magnum Opus as well. My brain doesn't make the connections like yours does so its super satisfying to watch you just blast these things.
Tyler saying those Indian foods has delivered me to heaven 😫
I managed to solve the ice cream puzzle with two small counters instead of sequencers. On start, subtract 1 from both, then add 1 to the first one if chocolate, add 1 to the second if vanilla, add 1 to both if twist. Each counter's zero output then goes to the corresponding flavor for a duration specified by the large 4 value counter.
Having listened to it for many a loop,, hearing the background music suddenly lurch forward whenever there's a jump cut is giving me conniptions XD
This game is really fun to watch. Hoping to see more of the dungeon building game in the future, that one really scratched a minesweeper adjacent itch
i fucking love ice cream i would trick dozens of teenagers into a 10-99 job where they mass produce ice cream until i develop the perfect recipe and lay off my entire workforce to secretly build a massive stockpile of the worlds best ice-cream and slowly releasing it onto the market with extreme mark-ups so I become the wealthiest man on earth so I can afford more resources to make more ice-cream. I would further my operations by expanding internationally and creating the prime example of the dark side of capitalism by running hundreds of facilities that have employees that make the equivalent of one pint of my ice-cream in their entire career. Iwill eat this ice cream

As others have stated, this is like a modular synth game + cooking. But its also combined with leetcode's runtime & memory use rating system... this game would be deadly addicting to me.
Also, for anyone else who knows what leetcode is: I feel for you & I am also trying to get a better job rn in software lol
This looks like a lot of fun, it has elements from games like opus magnum, molek syntez, and Signal State.
I have no clue what's going on, but I love it :D

-Aliensrock 2022-
Absolutely loved the first episode, hope it continues!
Very happy to see this game again.
Keep the series running! Love this game!
I would love more of this game! I bet all the remaining mini games are just as great, can't wait to see them all!
You should really check out Infinifactory. Its like a 3D version of this game with the same step and cost optimization and such. Its also pretty difficult so you’ll really enjoy it.
Infinifactory is by the same dev! A good recommendation though :D
Infinifactory was one of the few Zachtronics games that didn't hook me. Something about the 3D first-person view made it too annoying to do anything that it just didn't click. I loved Spacechem and Opus Magnum though, and I even enjoyed Shenzhen IO.
@@DavidGuild You might like Warp Factory - it's a similar premise but in 2D
Just got back home from vacation, feels nice getting a vid at 11 instead of midnight, as always, I enjoy the vids, tysm
I get the vids at 6.00 in the morning
@@daalbu it's become routine for me to watch the vid before I go to sleep, tho making up to a vid sounds nice, then I can go to sleep earlier
I’m really happy you’re playing this game, thank you
Nothing like a fresh foodcourt video. Love to see this series continue
Never heard of this game, just randomly found this video. Paused about 5 seconds in and I said "This looks like a Zachtronics game"
Looked it up, and sure enough - Zachtronics. I have never finished one of their games, but I really like all of them. Well, at least the ones I have played. (Spacechem, Infinifactory, TIS-100, Opus magnum, and Shenzhen I/O)
I fucking read "ICE" as the letters so I guess this is internal combustion engine cream now
This makes making art easier idk why but it does ty

Ice cream alternate solution to delaying the cream: move the top box thing down
Can't wait for the next peglin video. This shit good too though.
I personally can’t get into his really long rouge-like series after a certain point, so seeing more of this is very good
You hit 500k subs. Awesome! Good job, man.
This game feels to me like polybridge. You make a contraption with the least money possible with certain constraints. You're also competing (but only if you want to) against all other players
congrats on 500k!
Congrats on 500k!
GONGRATS ON THE HALF MILLION SUBS MAN!
My man really said yog-urt and not yo-gurt
Finally, I was waiting for this
Congrats on 500k :)
I was hoping to find comments about the pronunciation of "yogurt" but finding none makes me question if Ive been saying it right.. "Yo gurt", not "Yog urt"
Nah you're not the only one, I checked the comments for the same thing just now XD
this games describes my job to the core. nice to relax playing a game that reminds me what i want a break of
dammit tyler. i got last call bbs because of the last video you did on it, specifically this minigame, and totally forgot that im an idiot who doesnt know how to program. i got COMPLETELY stuck on this level, how does your brain work??? you're really good at making brain-melting puzzles look fun/easy lol
this series is great, please continue it
I find it very interesting that your solution had the ice cream getting dispensed first, and then it waits for the tray, whereas I did the opposite. I had it wait, and then dispense so that it moved off the sorter at the same tick that it got it's last ice cream dollop. I also only used counters and no sequencers. Your solution is cheaper than mine though.
Also, you can hold shift to hide the wires. You seemed to be struggling with that a bit, so I figured I should mention it.
congrats for 500k subs!
Speaking english is kind of like a Zachtronics game if you think about it. Compare 'i have to admit' to 'i gotta confess'. The first phrase saves on length, while the second saves on words.
"don't know if this is what it wants from me"
**narrator's voice**
"It was in fact, not at all what it wanted from him"
The coding is a little confusing for my midnight brain but I still watch lol
Ice cream? Looks like chaats. Ah, I see the ice cream is later on.
This vid really makes me want to start putting a modular synth rack together.
I seriously don't know what to say because it is impossible for me to have finished the video yet as it was released only 6 minutes ago but either way, I already like the video.
[creates a firehazard of a wiring server]
efficiency! :)
17:20 i was thinking you could use counters and zeroes and AND gates. here's how: upon the tray entering, subtract 1 from two counters. add 1 to the first for vanilla, add 1 to the second for chocolate. then feed their zero into an AND gate. then sense & zero = dispense. in fact, the sequencers in your solution should already be unnecessary if you use some kind of SENSE information to make it dispense
there is a game on steam called automation, which is like this , but actually programming on ladder logic like on the PLCs you are wireing in this one.
Oh no now I can live my job at home too ;(
when you say yogurt all i can think is "yoggers" like "poggers" because of how you say it
very cool video btw
Golly, Deep fried tray is my FAVOURITE
This is so good
I had no idea a new Zachtronics game had come out!
I have to get it!
After this video.
How on earth did I read the title as I.C.E cream factory XD
Good video btw
I actually love this game frfr
Pains me to hear Tyler pronounce yogurt yah-gurt, great video though
I love this game inside a game
Send this to McDonalds, they need this ice-cream machine
YES! He has returned to this game.
My tiny brain hurts but seeing one of your videos helps lmao
Just watching you play this hurts my brain. Def not the game for me, but I love watching someone else play!
Sequencers? This basically is a modular synth now!
Imagine if the comment series “guy spends too much time on internet and is early to some Alinesrock uploads” makes it into a video
Food factory modular synthesis
500k woah oh we're halfway there
Nice
tyler smart
i love him
im 99% sure you don't need to leave the tray dispenser in the back row
3:54 why do you pronounce yogurt like poggers
Pogurt
This just made my morning lmao
This game is awesome!!!
I love this game please play more😊
i am too smooth brained to understand this series lol
He's back
"Yoggert"
Freakin' kills me lol.
Next up would have not gates, and more "counting" puzzles
Thank you :D
Atleast he told Poori properly 💀💀
use positive numbers instead of negative on the counter to completely remove the need for sequencers
on the last could you have removed a sequencer and replaced it with a few multimixers? using boolean logic to decide what to dispense
Is it a bad sign I read it like an acronym... I.C.E.
I saw this really cool puzzle game called sweet dreams alex on my steam reccomended id love to see you play it
There is a similar game called "The signal state".
music was a bit loud but great video (mostly around 9:30 - 10:00)
Tyler pronouncing poori as porey is killing me
I'd like to see you try some of the chipwizard levels, but I guess it's probably not good for a video, and very unaccessible even with the manual.
Part 3 please 🥺
Enjoyed the video. Can I suggest that if you want to use jump cut editing, you mute the music from the game (maybe get the sound track and add it after editing)?
The Anti-McDonalds Factory Simulator... simulator
I bet top peecentile for ice cream isn't top percentile for time.
14:21 if u can move tray making machine then why it couldn't be just beside stacker? (or one conveyor away)
Seems kinda like simplified PLC programming
when will that solitare game be completed? I must have closer
how long till tyler notices that he can move the Tray machine?
aliensrock
this. looks. so. fun.
I am 100% the target audience.
Wait... are we just playing with PLC now?... ok then...
