this is mastika not rakia
hihi this is not salamy, this is lukanka(bulgarian dry meat, for winter) lukanka and rakia,is klasic, and potato, are best with white bulgarian cheese :)
hihi! it's all so delicious!
thats mastika and in bulgaria its 47% alcohol
It's brilliant!!
usualy you add ice cold water and drink it with airan, the airan kills the peculiar flavor@@twostraycats
48%
We do have airjan too
Of course, we drank a lot of it!
Rakia has never and can never have Anise. Rakia is made from fruits such as grape or plum.
Bulgarian "ouzo" is called "Mastika" and it is similar. What you are drinking is Mastika.
Hmmm, this must have been Turkish Raki then because it definitely tasted like anise, and says Raki on the side of the glass - even though I was under the impression that it was the Bulgarian version.
@twostraycats it is probably Bulgarian Mastika in Yeni Raki cups.
The Turkish word "Raki" is unrelated to the Bulgarian Rakia. Two different things. Turkish Raki is like Ouzo, Bulgarian Ouzo is called Mastika. Bulgarian Rakia is like Italian Grappa.
Lots of places in Bulgaria use whatever random cups they have which are appropriate... they can serve Bulgarian Mastika in Turkish Raki glasses.
Is this the "Kapana" block? I cannot recognize the place on the video.
Sure is! Well the first meal - yes, a place called "Bulgar Gastro Bar" (00:00 - 04:58)
The other lunch was enjoyed at "Restaurant Dayana-3 // Даяна-3) (05:00 - 07:00)
Then we're had some beers with the clips at a bar along ul. "Knyaz Alexander".
And the last drinks with the cat was later, also at Dayana-3.
xx
@@twostraycats Thanks. Next time try (to walk to)"Kyuchuk Parizh" (Small Paris) and the "Saturday maket". The hidden gems of the town (if the guys from the real estate business didn't ruined them until you come back). 🍽🙏❤
Such brave eaters!
I bet that alcohol packs a punch.
I'll stick with Southern Comfort thank you. 🍺
Sure does.
Either way! Cheers to you, Joanna!

And a very joyful and peaceful New Year to both of you. 🎉
what s the sunglas she use?
The brand is "Hawkers" you should find them on the website. x
About how much (in U.S. Dollar$ or Euros) does a 1/2 liter bottle of normal, average local Bulgarian beer cost in a typical (not fancy, "Tourist Oriented") pub or restaurant cost?
Welcome!
Roughly 3-6 BGN, meaning usually between 1.5 and 3 euro.
The local beer was really good though compared to all the other countries we've visited. Enjoy!
@@twostraycats I enjoyed your video very much, if you ever want recommendations about places to visit here in beautiful, welcoming, historic and incredibly budget friendly Krakow Poland (from an American who has been living here for that past 9 years) just get in touch...
Happy New Year,
Matthew
Will do! Thanks, we will likely be around your end of town in six months or so. xx
