FILM DESCRIPTION:
Ridley Scott directs the crime comedy Matchstick Men, based on the novel of the same name by Eric Garcia. Neurotic con man Roy (Nicolas Cage) suffers from several emotional problems, including obsessive-compulsive disorder. He and his partner Frank (Sam Rockwell) swindle people out of money by posing as money collectors who promise things like tax refunds, package vacations, and other fabulous prizes (which they never get). Frank wants to pull a really big job, but Roy is too consumed with fear and panic attacks to join him. Only cigarettes and his trusty illegal prescription drugs seem to keep him going. When Roy finds himself in desperate need of more pills, he is forced to see legitimate psychotherapist Dr. Klein (Bruce Altman). Roy ends up talking about his emotional damage from a troubled marriage and divorce, which results in the discovery of a child whom he has never met. Dr. Klein suggests that he spend a weekend with the kid, so in walks teenaged Angela (played by twentysomething Alison Lohman). Reluctant to develop his role as a father, Roy also gets heavily involved in Frank's ambitious swindle.

The thing that i love about this scene is that Roy think he con but in fact he's the conned one haha.
@top 5 i am bulgarian. not russian :)
I mean, he IS a fairly successful conman. He was just being played by somebody he sadly should not have trusted, ever.
Nicolas Cage using his ninja reflexes to switch cases.
What an amazing movie !!
You’re the best I’ve ever seen I love the ending with the dog is cleared out. All his money is gone and I left him 100 bucks.
The pigeon drop
Airport bartender is a thankless job.
I’m still confused to what Nicholas Cage did here.
I know he switched suitcases, but what did the suitcase contain that the guy really got.
Later Cage is saying that it contained $80,000 because his partner was complaining about what of the bearded guy went to the police and Cage said the guy would have to explain why the bearded guy had a suitcase with $80,000.
I know the suitcase Cage promised him had £80,000 in it which would be worth more than $80,000. It’d probably be worth like $120,000.
So did the bearded guy give Cage like $100,000 thinking he was making a $20,000 profit while Cage switched the briefcase so he was really getting ripped of $20,000?
The fist deal was 5k for 5k, the reason why they didn't "split the profit" was because Cage got that money for free. Cage gets to launder the money for 33% discount, which is fairly good deal, and the guy gets quick 50% profit, which in final deal translates to instant 40k profit.
As for after the switch, the guy got nothing, that's how it's usually works and we saw it when he bashed the case against the car. The guy wouldn't go to cops, because he would need to explain what kind of deal he was supposed to make.
In the confrontation, Cage said about explaining briefcase with 80k dollars, but that was supposed to be enraged dialogue, where details get a bit fuzzy.
