In my opinion the Greatest of them all Triple Crown winner Guineas Derby and St Leger and would have won the Arc if Lester had not dropped him out last of the field he came from last in the space of half a furlong to just get beat by a nose, he did the exact same thing the following year or the great Filly Park Top who won the 1 Thousand Guineas and the Oaks went for the Arc and Piggot did the same drop her out last with a furlong to go I have never seen a horse finish the way she did to be pipped but a nose on the line 2 Arcs that Lester Piggot should have won and ruined two great horses unbeaten winning records .

Nijinsky Was The Greatest Winner of the derby .there will Never Be As good a horse as Nijinsky ever again .That derby was run in record time since Mahmoud in 1938 Hand Clock Time.Since then workforce has broke the course record. Nijinsky is the only colt to win 4 classic no other colt has ever done before and won't ever again .
The 4 Classics Nijinsky won Was 1 2.000 Guineas 2.Epsom Derby 3. Irish Derby .4 Doncaster St Ledger ..As For Other Epsom Derby winner SeaTheStars i Rate second Best .3 Sir Ivor Was A Brilliant Derby Winner 1968 , i could go on But i won't for now

fox Dancing brave was never as good as nijinsky.
Nijinsky should have been unbeaten only for losing 3 lengths when he veered off line near finished he would have won the arc
And would not have run in the champion stakes. He was past his best then .

@@glynnevans1851 It is an interesting debate and one that will never be resolved! What I would say, even disagreeing with the maestro himself, was that Sir Ivor had too many defeats on his record. @@ianzanshin5044 Hi Ian, cheers for your reply. Lester himself said Sir Ivor was his best Derby ride but the win on Roberto was Remarkable n how he got Roberto up to pip Rheingold was Momentous. Also The Minsterel must be considered and a top 5 in any order would be appropriate too. Another great warrior that gets over looked is Brigadier Gerard and that defeat by Roberto in the Benson n Hedges was amazing. The late Joe Mercer was a very acumlished horse man and modest too said the Brigadier coughed up a whole bucket of mucus and was dehydrated when unsaddled.?The late 60s n 70s were Momentous years has you indicate.
