      I can't stand for dishonesty in politics; although the sponsorship scandal still has to be termed alleged because the charge was thrown out of the courts, and he was never convicted. I'm referring to Chrétien’s mannerisms when he's presented with questions, especially when faced with difficult ones. He’s direct and he has a great sense of humour!

    He's one of the best Prime Minister in history. He did not follow Bush Jr into the Iraqi war and he was right there wasn't enough evidence of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

    Chretien was a liberal PM but he governed to the center.On fiscal matters he was conservative. During his tenure Canada got lucky with the commodity boom.Chretien kept taxes high and used the surpluses created by the commodity boom to pay down debt.He realized Canada was in a financial mess and close to having the debt of a third world country.The combination of Chretien and Martin worked well for Canada.

    So refreshing to listen to his plain common sense and pragmatism once again. And BTW his English seems to have improved amazingly over the last 15 years - maybe it was his major heart surgery that worked the magic ! Although there is much to criticize him for I think history will judge him to be one of our greatest prime ministers. To use his own phrase - he knew how to put the puck in the net !

    I was not a fan of Jean Chretien in the past but after watching this interview, I have a newfound respect and admiration for him. Even in his old age, he is still a much more competent and intelligent leader compared to the sanctimonious effeminate fool who we currently have now.

    "When you are in Alberta it is almost a culture of complaining,", this is exactly why Albertans (speaking from one and a former Ontarian) why we feel alienated. We are not heard. He talks about the financial crisis for Canada has empathy however prior to the pandemic Alberta was hurting SO much. Perhaps some introspection as to why Alberta feels alienated? Listen and have empathy. The reason Alberta complains as Quebec has a fantastic deal. Alberta wants the same.

      If Alberta voted for a few Liberals perhaps they would not feel so alienated. If there are no parliamentarians from Alberta there can be no cabinet ministers from Alberta so of course they feel alienated. It is their own doing.

    He is so right about "passing the buck" that is the only weapon Alberta has "tried" to used since Peter Lougheed. And Lougheed never used it because he new it was a losing cause.
