Ah the Golden age of firefighting... Young women like this were true pioneers and real heroes for the nascent feminism movement. Those who made it into the brigade were a credit to the fire service, to the female sex, and to the human race in general. But as it was a man’s domain, i.e. tough and demanding many woman were just not capable of completing the very physical selection process. That’s not sexism, that’s just genetics. And as a result fire brigades were forced to lower the standards of entry... That, coupled with the metastasis of the ridiculous health & safety gestapo, the rise of woke leftie management, and the unbelievable cuts to budgets forcing the closure of fire stations and the removal of fire appliances and firefighters, has made today’s fire service a mere shadow of its glorious former self. So much so, I strongly believe that had Grenfell Tower caught fire 35 years ago, I strongly believe everyone would’ve survived and the building would’ve been saved.
Back them days.. A Mans world !! THE BASTARDS .. They didn't want her to get through Training.. THANK GOD That its now Very Different in the UK (FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE) This film is Heartbreaking 🤦
A very dear friend of mine is in this.... Fascinating to watch. Pity she fails but she fails for a reason. Biology hasn't chaanged in the last 30 years. If the same standards were appiled today, 99.99% of biological women would still fail.
Did your mum get in to the service i myself had to try to get 5 times but on the six time i got in to service im in service 7 years now and love every minte of it
By today’s woke standards maybe. But it was different then; it was pretty much the norm. You can’t superimpose today’s limp society and supercharged triggers onto one forty years ago.
Nathan Gaffney She was lacking in upper body strength end off argument . Grit and determination was spot on she showed great character and tenacity But the job is and always will be about upper body strength . The trainers could see it from day one . To get strong enough would take at least a year maybe two . In the condition she was in she was a danger to herself the public and her crew mates . In the London fire brigade they now have more job related entrance tests and this weeds out the trainees (Male and Female )who are not up to it , there are over 300 Female Firefighters in the LFB when I did my training early 80s started with 12 recruits in my squad ended up with 7 ( 4 injuries 1 left of their own accord)Most Fire Women riding the back of a machine from their mid 40s onwards start to struggle then into menopause problems really start . I feel sorry for any female joining as they are not told the truth about how tough the job can be in advancing years . They could invest 25 years and still be 15 of their Pension only to realise their body’s are fuced . You ask any female firefighter past 45 riding the back ,, not officers or support staff do they feel up to the job if they are honest 80% would say the wish they had invested 25 years into another career . Personally I had no problem serving alongside Female Firefighters , they make great drivers ,BA Control , first aiders , and generally really good officers . Incidentally LFB Has a female chief and she is the best chief officer London has had in years .
@@ianmangham4570 Great person Of course that was plain to see , great heart and passion definitely, but there lays the problem would she of made a great professional Firefighter ?? I doubt it . Many Female firefighters leave ..they are sold the politically correct dream … only for it to become a diversity nightmare .
That is my mum, been a while since I sat down and watched the original VHS of this.
The Chronicles of Dash was very sad she didn’t make the passing out after all her hard efforts. :(
The Chronicles of Dash Thats awesome how old were you when your mom was doing her training
