Second video I’ve watched I really like the way you show your images and self analysis them also I love light camera gear I have a74 70 200 lens and am wieghing up my whole approach I traded in my Fuji X P ro 2 for this and take way less photos which is why this video was so interest in you have a new subscriber thank you Matt
i was also a huge 35mm fan. had the RX1r and 35mm was all i needed. but on the A7 series i bought the batis 40 2.0 and this changed to 40mm. 40mm is the perfect focal lenght in my opinion at the moment. it is just a little narrower and. for portraits that is super efficient.
my travel/vacation setup is ths 40mm 2.5 with the A7CR it’s certainly not perfect but probably best compromise for me as far as compactness and performance with Sony gears great review
Which lens hood is better out of these two lens hood ? have you ever checked these both ? Haoge LH-S245G Metal or Haoge LH-S245N ( the one that you have) ?
The A7C is definitely a sleeper camera. It got a lot of flak from folks when it came out. I was looking to get an APS-C camera at the time, because I valued size and wanted a compact setup for taking photos on vacation and video as well. I ended up going with the A7C because of it's size and paired it with the Zeiss 35mm 2.8G. The low light capabilities of the A7C plus that lens made for a killer combo and it's autofocus is so snappy. This new 40mm sounds like a killer choice as well. (hell, all of the 3 pancake G lenses from Sony seem killer for their price). I think the biggest benefit of the A7C is that you still have the option to use those beefy sized GM/Sigma/Zeiss lenses but you can also have the option of modifying your kit to be small and unobtrusive. I do hope they come out with a new A7C at some point. My main asks for the upgrade would be a better viewfinder, 10 bit, the new focus breathing compensation and of course the new Sony menu system (also 24MP is enough tbh but if they want to bump it to 30MP I won't complain).
A7cII and a7cR fullfilled your request, even more with active stabilization, AI processor, 4k60, s-cinetone , 10 bit 4:2:2 slog3, 33mp, improved magnification in the evf. But i will wait a7cIII or a7cIV before to update my a7c body. I have more need for a lens 35mm f1.8 and a gimbal weebill 3s
@@CC-gt3ro it’s close but I still think the EVF could be better. I wouldn’t mind paying more for a better viewfinder as it makes the shooting experience so much nicer. My next purchase is a light modifier
@@sneakingelephant i have bad eyes and wear glasses but i have no issues with my gen1 a7c. I use it in the sunny day for photo only. In video i use the screen with the Sunny Weather setting. On the gimbal you cannot use the evf anyway. There is a eye cup extension that help in the sunny day and plug on the hot shoe. I never tried it but the reviews are good and it is 10$ or something like that, and you can use the glasses with it. But you lose the hot shoe and i have the Sony 60rm2 high end flash. But it could help for videos or photos without flash. But as i said i have no issues really with the evf. It would be good if they could clip a magnifier removable. But i like the flat body, so the bigger flash seems much smaller. And the camera fits in my smaller National Geographic bag with everything else flash, micro, filter standard and telephoto zoom, and the zhiyun bag of the weebill 3s on the back.
Back in "the good old days" of analog photography, millions of compact Cameras had 35, 38 or 40mm Lenses, so 35/38/40mm focal length are the most versatile ONE Lens. Personally I prefer 35mm, though I have the Leica Minilux with the excellent Leica Summarit 40mm 2.4 Lens which is the best ever made Lens for analog compact Cameras with a fixed Lens, I also have the Minox 35 ML with a 35mm Lens which is a very fast to use candid Camera, that can be operated with one hand, just set the distance scale to about 3 metres in advance and you are good to go. I do not use analog Cameras any more, now I use mine Sony A7RIV and A7RIVA, my choice of 35mm Lens are the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical with outstanding image quality and built like a tank, I can very highly recommend it !
Hey, sorry, I’m not sure what you’re asking. This lens only comes in one configuration. I placed a link to the hood I bought in the description. TBH, I picked the hood based on looks and compatibility with the lens. Hope that helps!

Great video. I've been eyeing an a7c. I have some sony primes and a 28-200 Tamron but no body at the moment. Wondering if it's worth spending the money on a used a7c in 2023 while I wait for the a7cii. OR, for the same price, get an X-T5 which is much more advanced than the a7c other than being aps-c.
Focus breathing on these new small prime Sony G lenses is very visible…too bad i was interested by 40mm f2.5 for video on the gimbal but my 17-28 Tamron is better in video without focus breathing , no CA , very sharp and also in photo. In apsc mode i can get 42mm 2.8 in video. But for photo these 40mm and 50mm f2.5 are impressive. I wait a updated 35mm f1.8 gen 2 with the aperture ring and no focus breathing for video/photo
@@MattYamamoto100 Sony a7c. I don’t have this feature and don’t want it.I don’t like the trend Sony is doing. Jason Polin made the same opinion during the lens review of latest Sony. They are making lenses with flaw and release new camera that can blur the flaw with digital or trick crop. But that’s not right. When you bought a 17mm you want to use it. You don’t want to finally get a refined 20mm because the lens have flaws. That’s not correct. To my opinion, Sony has badly designed their two linear motor focus. Tamron and old Sony (35f1.8 and 24-105f4) use only one motor and have no focus breathing and are highly love by Sony community. The problem is the new two linear motor in all new Sony lenses. I was a high skill developper and i foresee a difficulty to combine the result of the two motor into one blurry result. I bet they will refine the design in the future or come back to one faster single motor like Tamron or their old designs.
I own this camera as-well and indeed is a sleeper. i get amazing results, compact , light and who needs a leica?? lol I hane the 35, 28, 40, 55, 85 non gm amd walk around with a little backpack with all this gear weighing nothing and killer images .
