Ol Doinyo Lengai Volcano - the coldest black lava volcano in the world

Ol Doinyo Lengai is a stratovolcano located in the northern part of Tanzania, which is part of the chain of active and extinct volcanoes of the Great African Rift located in East Africa.
The natrocarbonatitic lava of Ol Doinyo Lengai is composed of minerals that react rapidly with water and oxygen in the atmosphere. The dark brown or black lava changes, first to gray and pale brown and finally to almost white.
