Your explanation was perfectly explained and really helped me out. I'm new to 3 phase and my new (used) machine came without a plug. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Yes! Same in my shop, wild leg across from the ground, common sense I think. I also use a rotation indicator to be sure the two 120 leads are properly oriented, so all the outlets in the shop are the same.
Is it possible to have 3phase with a neutral , cause recently was changing a plug and the person who wired it before had the the white wire as hot and used the red as a neutral . When I tested the female socket was getting 110/110/0 and no 220 across the phases.
Nice video brother. I'm building a lathe, I have a 3hp 3 phs motor with an inverter. I'm running the system on 220v single and using 4 leg plugs. My thought is to run 2 @ 120 and 1 at natural and the last one at earth ground. what do ya think... yea i know your not an electrician but just your thoughts. Thanks
There are letters printed next to each hole. G= Green (ground), X= Red (the one he refers to as 220), Y= Black, and W= White. The same lettering applies to wall and surface-mounted plugs. Keep in mind that in some instances if you switch the black and white wires, the motor rotation changes from clockwise, to anti-clockwise.
So my ground to my other 3 wires are all 120. Anyone know why thats my case, when in this video he had one with double the voltage? Im sure I need to test the voltages between the other leads too, but Im not sure what Im looking for.
I've had nothing but praise for the video and you can see the view count not everyone has the same level of expertise everyone is out here learning hot shot

You are welcome! Stay safe out there!
best explanation I have seen yet...thanks
You're very welcome

Very nice

Sounds like it could be a blowed fuse. Or someone just used a four prong plug for a single phase plug.

I think it should work but without me being there a little hard for me to say for sure.
@@wildcatwilly I used 1 leg for neutral and the other for earth ground. any thoughts.
Sounds good
Would be nice to see what color wires go and what whole
Black and white = 110volt
Red = 220v wildleg
Green = ground or earth

I think I figured it out. This is possibly delta wiring, and Im looking at Wye wiring. Makes more sense now.
I never liked Delta I'm sure there's a reason for it but I think it's dumb
Ok, why did you just show the before and after? Don't bother making more useless videos
