My husband and I are 54 and vegan and we never caught it. I work at an elementary school and tested often due to numerous close contact exposure notices. In fact I haven’t been sick with anything since going vegan 4.5 years ago even though I have kids coughing near me all the time. I tend to believe that otherwise healthy people have a better immune system on a vegan diet.

I’m 58 and vegan (WFPB specifically). I teach middle school and have been exposed to kids and family members/friends who had Covid. Never had it. I am vaccinated, but so is my adult son who lives with me. He’s had Covid twice. I’ve only had two colds since adopting a WFPB lifestyle. I have more energy than most of my students despite being almost 5 times older than them.

My girl and I are both pure carnivore. She is a respiratory therapist, she worked every day inserting ventilator tubes down covid patients throats, exposing herself every day. She didnt get covid but pulled tubes out of a lot of corpses that were both Vegan and standard American diet but not a single carnivore.

I find it very hard to believe that your girl would be informed of the diets all the patients she treated were following. It’s not exactly information that would be critical to obtain during a hospital visit. Most primary care physicians don’t know what diets their patients are on.@@anthonyspadafora1384

When I was an omnivore I’d get sick a lot due to working a 9-5 and training a lot in Jiu Jitsu with strength and conditioning on the side, and would occasionally burnout. Now that I’m plant based, I haven’t gotten sick, nor burnt out and actually crave to train more. My gf was sick last week with a cold sore and a sore throat. We still cuddled, kiss and all the intimate things couples do, and I still have no cold sore or sickness on me rn.

These plans started out of the club of roam in the early 70s. If one didnt come to the information pre internet, then one is lijely lost in a swamp of would be information that is set out there only to distract. I had the distinct privalege of being a music geek since i was a kid. If you look back theough the catalogues of some of the most well known bands on the planet, mainly rock n' roll, rock, hard rock and metal. These banda have been singing about all this stuff for decades. Pay particurlar attention to songs by the rolling stones (who hapoen to have been intimately connected to prominenet familys like the trudeaus. As well as bands like sepultura, megadeth and Judas Priest. Point being. Disecting their lyrics as a kid, more than a few decades ago. It triggered my interest. Going from memory there was a study that showed that eating eggs had no effect on cholesterol levels, but it turned out that the people they tested already had super high cholesterol and there is a threshold so the body stops absorbing cholesterol at some point. If you test someone with low cholesterol the effect would be more obvious. So that's one way they can manipulate results.

I finally caught covid-19 last November, one month before my 57th birthday. I wore a mask maybe 5 times during the mandates, I've been exposed numerous times, yet it took almost 4 years for me to finally catch it. I live a few miles away from that nursing home located in Kirkland, Wa where the outbreak in the US officially occurred. I'm also not vaccinated for it. I was feeling out of it for 2 days, I had a low grade fever for 24 hours. I still had to work. I began feeling sick on the first Monday of November. I didn't test until Thursday. By then, I was feeling fine. Monday I did 6 kitty visits and 2 dog walks and did a client consult. Tuesday I did 5 kitty visits and 1 dog walk. Wednesday I did 5 kitty visits. Thursday I did 4 kitty visits. That's when I tested. Friday I did 3 kitty visits and began a 3 night overnight stay with a dog. Saturday I did 2 kitty visits, Sunday no kitty visits. Monday 1 kitty visit and finished with my overnight and got to go home. Finally Tuesday I had a day off. So, the Monday I started feeling sick, I had a very full day of work. Tuesday my fever came on. Wednesday my fever was gone and I was feeling 90% myself, the day before I even tested. I believe being vegan is the reason why I had a very mild case.
One vegan friend of mine caught covid and got really sick. She fully recovered, but it was not a quick recovery for her.

I've been in close quarters with people who tested positive for covid and were sick as dogs 4 separate times now and each tike I braced myself and was sure I was going to get sick, and never did. all I felt was a bit tired and lethargic but I slept it off pretty easily, and it could have been due to other things I suppose. recently I was on the bus somewhere in the Netherlands and there were so many sick people on the bus, some lady accidentally coughed directly in my face. it was so gross. and I was convinced I caught something but again I was totally fine. I'm like 80% vegan, basically eat cheese and butter about once a week when I visit family and I eat regular marshmallows that are made with animal products

@@HoldOnStillProcessing : ( I'm very sorry you're dealing with that! It does sound like a nightmare! I would bet that without your diet and exercise you would have been worse off; maybe not even alive~ seriously. We all have other factors~ genetic, environmental, stress, other health issues; known or unknown, etc that come into play as well. This virus is insidious; I lost 4 relatives to it. I'm certainly no doctor, one thing I need to work on myself is eating more nutrient dense foods [greens, citrus, highly colored fruit and veg, omega 3 rich things, etc] I've kind of settled into a routine of a few of the same meals. Not at all in the way of criticism, but that might be helpful for you also if you have room for improvement there [but I imagine not as much as I do, lol!] I certainly hope that you're able to get past this health challenge to a point where it's at least manageable. Also, and certainly not to criticize, but if you can get to a point where you're able to let go of your anger, and accept that this is how it is for now, not necessarily for any length of time, you'll be really helping yourself. To be sure, this truly is unfair! But if you can get to the point where you accept it, instead of being angry, this will really help. I'm not saying to give up in your recovery, or in looking for answers, but to make peace with where things are at present. It's kind of the old thing about 'counting your blessings'; it really is true. Look for things in your life that bring you happiness, and focus more on what you have instead of what you don't, because they're there! You're young; you have a lot of life ahead of you! I did get Covid in the first wave and again last spring. I was ill both times, especially so the first time. The second time I needed paxlovid. (I was vaccinated.) My BMI is 18.7. Other health markers excellent. I exercise daily. I’m just saying this because I was surprised at how sick I was. Before this I never got sick with colds or flu. The first time my Covid was very bad for four months and I had lingering effects for over a year. Yes I lost my taste and smell. I had terrible digestive upset and sweating and fevers. Maybe I would have died if I was t WFPB? Who knows? Maybe I’m just unlucky. Fortunately, over time I am mostly better. Stomach still much more sensitive and my running times never recovered.

Covid is worse the larger the amount of the virus particles you're exposed to. In other words, if someone with. Covid coughs right in your face and you breathe it all deeply into your lungs, you will get a more severe case than if someone with covid coughed 20 feet away and you took only a shallow breath in. Maybe you got a large number of virus particles.

I also still mask when I go to public spaces that attract a lot of people, like supermarkets and pharmacies. If I went out to eat, I went at an off time. Let me say, it is not like a cold or the flu. I had a massive headache. Followed by a really bad sore throat. Some nasal congestion. Some coughing.I had to have someone drive me to the doctor with me curled up in the back seat. I got Paxlovid. It helped. More importantly I feel like I have completely recovered. No Long Covid. I think that is the real problem. People do not realize that Covid effects every part of your body and does damage. Vegans tend to be able to clear viruses better, so while it may not be a super power, it really helps.

This makes sense. You saturate the body with antioxidants, fiber and have a ideal BMI you will have a stronger immune system. Love that summary towards the end. I would bring up the correlation between US antiCovidvax sentiment and generally poorer diet in rural America, but this was done in Brazil.
    Anecdotes alert:
I'm sure my wife and I are on borrowed time, but neither of us have been infected by COVID yet. But we not only eat plant-based, but have followed protective measures including all boosters so likely all of the above. One thing you look at with correlation though is a mechanism for that correlation. With global warming, there is a very clear relationship between CO2 levels and warming, so we are confident with that link. There is obviously a link between the immune system, inflammation in the body and diet. Poor diets with high inflammatory markers are going to result in a higher risk of getting sick. Your video and the study clearly show this in the data. I see a massive increase in my social media feed of friends sick with COVID or the flu. Being obsessed with nutrition and diet, it is difficult not to think about risk factors and a heuristic tendency to correlate at least in the mind. Just BMI/diet, activity level and risky behavior like alcohol consumption is clear in my mind.
" In our study, we found that BMI and the prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher in the omnivorous group than in the plant-based group. Vegetarians had lower BMI, prevalence of overweight, obesity and metabolic syndrome.21 However, after the adjustment of BMI in the logistic regression the difference of lower diagnosis of COVID-19 in plant-based and vegetarian groups remained, suggesting that the difference in incidence of COVID-19 could be associated with other factors present in the diet. On other hand, physical activity also relates to a lower likelihood of adverse COVID-19 outcomes. In a meta-analysis, it was found that, those who engaged in regular physical activity had a lower risk of infection, hospitalisation, severe COVID-19 illness and COVID-19-related death than their inactive peers.22 In addition, in our study, after the adjustment for physical activity the lower incidence of COVID-19 remained in the plant-based and vegetarian group."

I have been vegan for seven years. I have never had COVID. I am the only vegan in my family. The rest of my family has all had COVID. I think there might be something unique about COVID though. I did get very sick a year ago from some unknown virus. I tested negative for everything but I was a zombie for two weeks.

lol I am sure there is a carnivore youtube channel saying the same thing. Is there a study that covers hand washing ? Let's ask the real questions; Are the majority of vegans vaccinated? Do the majority of vegans mask, even now? Did the majority of Vegans heed warnings to stay home separate etc.. Frankly I think the type O blood debate is better.

Is it because they are Vegan, focused on health. It takes conscious decisions at every meal to be vegan... this at times neurotic behavior spills into all facets of life.

Nuance is key. I'm an omnivore and I have never tested positive for covid despite my spouse having it twice. I eat a whole foods based diet of REAL food and minimal to no ultra-processed foods, refined sugar or grains. I exercise 6 days a week. I manage stress. I rarely am sick anymore. 🤷🏽‍♀

Same, never positive, omnivore, work in critical care EMS transported almost exclusively the sickest of COVID-19 patients from 21-22. When I say omnivore I don’t dabble in chicken I EAT RED MEAT. I also dance with the devil and on occasion jaywalk.

Is it maybe because we don't eat NeU5Gc? That sialic acid incorporates itself in carnist cell membranes. This is the cite where viruses attach. Perhaps viruses attach easier to Neu5Gc sugars?

I tested positive in 2021 but I’ve always wondered if it was one of those odd false positives because I had no symptoms at all. Nothing. Nada. I was chilling during the mandatory 10 day isolation period 😂

Doesn't mean everyone can eat this way, a lot of veggie based meats have pea protein in it, which I'm allergic to, peas, black eyed pea, chick peas peanuts lima beans, lentils and some other foods I can't eat. Does not mean I can't eat beans just very specific ones. I can at least have chilli so yes to chilli beans kidney navy or northern beans pinto.

Thanks, Mic, for all your great info. Love your channel! Here's a complaint though. I ordered the FitTrack Dara scale that you're promoting, and I'm not happy with it or the app. I'm trying to find out how to return the scale for a refund, but I haven't been able to reach anyone there by email or chat (I've been "oh hold" with their chat for over 2 hours!). Horrible customer service. I'm really sorry I ordered the scale to begin with.

may i ask- must the app be used to see basic weight?

    • @suzannec.6468
      @suzannec.6468 11 месяцев назад

@@fenysnake It displays weight, but that's all. I have another scale that displays body mass details without an app, but the Dara scale does not. They finally replied to my chat (after 3 days) and explained how to recalibrate the scale (take the batteries out, etc.). I told them that's not going to fix the pairing issue (I have to pair the scale with the app every time I use it) and I still want my money back. I'll probably have to wait another 3 days for a reply.

I was sent to the hospital 3 times in a row from drowning on my own blood, first not sure, second could be a fungus infection which is hard to determine, many antibiotics later nope it’s an infection but wait there is more! I had Covid so needed isolating for 7 days in a new room that was locked down. End result? No symptoms just a carrier, had the 3 shots by that point so far. Also got flown to the other end of the state for lung surgery after., well after I put a little more weight on, terrible over stuck at 43 to 44kgs 😒. Btw I’m not vegan, but I base most my food around fruit, veg, onions, garlic, mushrooms (lately enter the dark world or shittake mushrooms) herbs and spices, nut butters, blackstrap molasses, turkey carob molasses, hemp seeds and protein, and my ultimate fish flakes aka nooch 😅

I am sick with Covid now. This time I have had breathing difficulties. This research confuses me. I am vegan and I have had Covid 4 times since 2020. This is the 4th time for me. I don’t know what is going on. I don’t wear a mask anymore but I don’t mingle closely with others. I do some group activities but I don’t see others in my group getting sick so often. I am healthy, eat lots of fruits and veggies, clean and sanitary, normal bmi, eat mostly Whole Foods plant based, get exercise, supplement, meditate- I take care of myself. I have been vaccinated 3 times and I am young. I don’t understand it. I don’t plan to stop eating Whole Foods plant based because the alternative looks worse- just a few days ago a news came out that dairy cows are infected with avian flu, so the omnivore path doesn’t sound like a good route.
