I love Palma Nova . Two hour flight , 30 minute transfer . Lovely people and great choice of places to eat . Wonderful beaches and easy to walk around
It's great isn't it? Really wheelchair friendly too so it's good for everyone!
That Maccies has the best views in Palma Nova! Used to enjoy sitting there with a burger and a beer (we couldn't believe we could get a beer in McDonald's) whilst our kids had half an hour on the climbing frame down on the beach.
It's the best thing about foreign McDonald's. We went in to use the toilet once but that was about it
Looks like things are recovering well after Covid. Good trip guys 👏👏👏
Things are picking up, which is always a good sign. Hopefully it may bring more footfall for July/August. It's just sad to see so many businesses closed.
Palma Nova looks to have changed since I was last there and prices gone up. My family used to frequent Castaways when we were there.
It definitely has gone up in price Hilary. A bit like most places I suppose. We get the impression they are trying to chase out the party goers and the reputation that goes with it. Either way, it was sad to see some places hadn't made it and we hope they get new owners soon x

Hi sunny Mallorca from a very HOT (32 degrees) Corfu 🙌🙌 We are having a similar experience here with prices, beers now €3-€5 and the spirits are very expensive, all main meals €2-€4 more than what they were pre-Covid 🤕 A lot of places haven’t made it through and there are many restaurants that were open all day that now just open from 5pm onwards…..it’s very sad 😢

Loved this video, sad to see that some of the shops/restaurants have had to close due to covid. How do you guys manage to fit in lots of travel with work commitments and is it hard to budget etc? Would love some tips. Thanks
Hey Lucy. We use our annual leave for the bigger holidays and days off for the short trips like these. As we work shifts we usually get 3 days off so it's timing it right with cheap airfares. Ryanair were doing return flights for £10 so we had to go for it. We usually try to pick places that are cheap when we go for a few nights but we got rinsed here and it wasn't the budget trip we had in mind. It's all about the time of year and just trying to chalk as much off as possible where we can x
nice video we go to palmanova every year , the orion bar was open last year but it is now under new ownership and is opening at the end of june as a sushi cocktail bar called IROKO

Yes we went in the iriko for a bit nostalgia because we used to always have a few in the Orion bar, it was 5 euro a pint we never went back. It is a nice bar they have done a really nice job if it but I think they will struggle to get tourists in next year.

Well we just got back from Palma Nova/Magaluf last week. I have been going for over 30 years however this year we got a shock at the prices.
The Sol Gaudalupe is a hotel I have used off and on since 1986, the last 7ish years it has cost us around £2200 for two weeks h/b for the three of us however this year it cost us a whopping £3600 then we were hit with a 108 euros tourist tax bill I knew I had to pay one but didn't expect it to be so steep.
Bars and restaurants on the beach have hammered their prices up infact in alot of them they were charging 5 euros a pint another shock. Still bars to get a decent beer between 2.50 and 3 euros.
I remember years a go the two resorts raised their prices, bars all had put the prices up, they all seemed to charge the same. Friends we always holidayed with decided not to go back however we did go the following year in August, the resort's were really quiet, we could get up anytime of the day and have sunbeds wherever we wanted infact you were lucky to see a dozen people around the pool.
I can see this happening again.
We also noticed the area is no longer really a Brit resort that doesn't bother me international is great I love meeting people from other countries however it does show the Brits are now fed up with price hikes and tourist tax. Further proof of this was our flights, we flew out the last week in July and came back last week and their was lots of spare seats on the plane, I have never known this happen before, even when we fly out for our four night break in October the flights are always full.
We won't be going back for a main holiday here anymore such a shame but it's just not worth my hard earned cash anymore
Hey Daryn. We totally echo the sentiments about the massive price hike. To us it seems like they are trying to attract a different type of clientele who will pay high end prices and chase out the bargain loving Brits. The regeneration plans for Ibiza are to get rid of the whole club culture and fill it with high end tapas bars - and I feel this area of the island may end up going the same way eventually. We find that whilst the flights and accommodation will be cheap, the trade off is that daily expenses will make up for that and be quite 'pocket heavy'. We're sorry to hear it wasn't the holiday you expected as we know how much people look forward to them and there's nothing worse than somewhere you work hard to go to leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. Well I posted here 1 month ago, and here I am again with just ten days out from flying to Majorca.. Toasty STILL brought a small to my face. For me travelling to Spain/Majorca isn’t about going upmarket, I love cheap ‘n cheerful, somewhere to chill and not worry about dressing up (we can do that on our city breaks) for dinner & drinks.. I usually run & train in the morning there so I can spend the rest of the day with cold beers and grub, and if I find somewhere showing some Fools and Horses (or any Brit comedy) I’m made up (btw I’m Irish, coming from Dublin but love the Brits).. Thanks again, not doubt I’ll update on our return :)
Hope you have a great time! We're on 'summer break' at the moment as we don't travel during July or August which always pains us, so we are very jealous! We've spent many enjoyable nights with the Irish and having some quality banter, so the feeling is reciprocated! Be sure to let us know how you get on after your trip.

We’re heading out to Palma Nova (torrenova) end of August having just come back from Tenerife. Not many places will book Tandori Hut! How was general atmosphere of the resort? I felt Las Americas atmosphere was being diluted by all inclusive hotels. I think there’s a fine balance between “cleaning up” the place and getting rid of the buzz of bars etc
Hey Alex. You can tell Palma Nova is still recovering. It was a little...subdued, much like any other place at the moment. On a night it came alive a little bit but not as much as it would be for the time of year. We think a lot of the new 'rules' aren't helping either as they are desperately trying to raise the profile of Magaluf and Palma Nova from what it used to be, or theoretically, still is. Don't get us wrong, we hate the strip on Magaluf but know that many businesses depend on it. We hear Ibiza is currently going the same way and wants to be rid of the 'club' culture and aim towards Tapas bars and good drinks...and we believe this is a similar aim by the council of Calvia. All Inclusive hotels kill any tourist location. I've watched the local people of Marmaris suffer for years as the AI guest only comes out for a walk on an evening and generally spends nothing. I guess its each to their own though and we're not one to dismiss someone's ideal type of holiday as we are all different. We hope you have a great trip and that some information has helped you. Toasty Man, damn I used to love that place!. Delighted its survived the pandemic, although it seems El Mecca hasn’t, sadly. Basically we brought the kids to Palma Nova every summer (maybe ten of them, stay in the Nova Apartments). I loved the corner of El Mecca with a scoop of pints and a book.. After an absence of 15 years I’m returning with my daughter in August, so is grown up and married, and hoping to rekindle old memories.. I think it’ll be weird, like a time warp remembering the family hols. Thanks for the wonderful upload.. Toasty Man, dammit I’ll be there with a few toasties and a lorry load of pints :)

It's such a shame about El Mecca and actually took us by surprise when we first saw it. Chris is a great guy and it was a blessing he survived. I loved El Mecca and often said it was my favourite corner of the world, the wife would be up at the pool with the two children and I’d be skulling pints in El Mecca, with a good book in hand. Hey Jim. We generally select a couple of bars to film where the owners are happy for us to film, there's no music and if we eat/drink something. Monroe's was filmed for the 'Sundae' scene. We only had a day to film so it was a bit rushed but yes you are exactly right, there's plenty of choice out there!

Price are up in Spain
Certainly are. Seems the same all over Europe to be honest. One of our subscribers is in Corfu and she has said it's gone up a fair bit there too.
