I don't know if "retail sales" numbers even matter... for example how much of those sales were put on credit? Credit debt is at an all-time high and skyrocketing daily. In my view if you haven't paid for an item (in full) you don't own it and have not yet bought it. So maybe a lot of items have been sold, but are not yet paid for. Is that a sale?
