Highlights as Russia's Nikolay Kovalev wins Bronze in the Men's Individual Sabre during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Fencing was included for the first time at the 1896 Games in Athens, and has remained on the Olympic programme since then. The women's fencing competition entered the Games in 1924 in Paris. Today, men and women compete in individual and team events, in which three types of weapon are used: foil, epee and sabre. The foil was, at first, the only weapon used by women, until the 1996 Games in Atlanta, when women's epee was introduced. Women's sabre appeared for the first time on the Olympic programme in Athens in 2004.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
-Kovalev
He is fun to watch.
I know kovalev's son, he does the exact same thing its pretty funny
Kovalev turned into the hulk every time he got a hit.
True
Both Dimitrescu and Kovalev are mazing! A real treat to watch such high- level fencing as the two of them put up!
can't get enough of Kovalev
I see him every so often in SoCal. He took over Z Fencing in Pasadena and renamed it West Coast Fencing Center...moved to Monrovia. He'll come coach his kids at our local events, which is something I've never seen Sergei Golubutski do.
@SC95 Along with Ed Korfanty! Nick Dinu really bumped up the coaching in recent years!
thanks i've been trying to find out more and you've just answered all my questions :)
Attack no, riposte no, final attack... No
The last riposte was a yes though.
Attack no, riposte no, attack no, riposte no, attack no, riposte touché point
Same.
Or, as I've called it for Y10s....flail, counter-flail, remise of the flail...
@@samsignorelli You are forgetting attack lands on guard, riposte lands on guard, both stop, you remind them to keep fencing and that they are in a bout, attack in prep from the left.
@@robot3759 Well yeah...that too!
Actually, I had one at a local years ago where I had one bout and another was going on the other side of the table.
Both I and the other director said "fence" at the same time...all 4 kids did an advance lunge at the same time.
Other kids hit and fired the light...MY kids both missed, so I said nothing.
They stand up...look at the box...realize there HAD been no hit...and both went in again.
Kid who reacted first got the touch.
My call was "You both attack, you both miss, you both strike a pose -- "Vogue, Vogue, Vogue" -- the (one of the sides) starts and you follow...touch (whatever side it was).
The parents got the Madonna "Vogue" song reference and laughed.
After that, I tried to NOT start at the same time as the ref opposite me!
What's the name of that song they were playing at the beginning?
