- Fan Friday Request:
"Hello,
I have this memory of Dave talking to someone in a laundromat, instructing the person to overload the machine with...soap ? and something coming apart and flooding the laundromat.
Please refresh this memory, as it is somewhat hazy.
Thank You, love the channel, keep 'em coming!"

Welcome to the Letterman RUclips Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. And for those of you who like Miscellaneous, you may very well find some Miscellaneous here.
This was during the months-long 1988 writers strike, when killing time without any prepared comedy material was paramount. Dave hated the situation, but it made for essential Late Night television.
When did they start doing "Hal Gurnee's Network Time Killers?"
@@Rob_Kates During the strike. I hear there’s a 4-Part compilation of all of them on some other channel. With dates and everything.
@@dongiller I bet that other channel has a lot of great stuff on it. Huh.
@@plaws0 All click bait. :)
This is my request !!!! Can't believe it's on the channel !!! Thank You ! Thank You !
And a good one, too!
This is such a classic. I remember watching this show live Love you Dave please come out of retirement. We all miss you ! Thanks so much for showing theses classics
He's doing a new season of his Netflix show soon I believe!
Even during a writers strike, Dave managed to give everyone excellent late night comedy. Yes! Way to go, Dave!
Dave...traumatizing business owners, scarring small children, and generally sudzing up the joint...since 1980.
Ahh the days when you could smoke in laundromats. Such great memories.....
& hospitals. The good old days 😪
Isn't this the laundromat where Kramer dumped a whole bag of cement into a washer on Seinfeld? No wonder Mr Shin is a bit touchy!
No that was in the basement of Jerry's apartment lol
Funny 😁
This is hilarious and I can't believe I've never seen it before. A new classic!
Cleanliness is essential!
I’m so grateful for all these clips. The show was so much much a part of me growing up.
Those two women looked like Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.
She agreed awfully quick. How expensive was a laundromat in 1988?!?
Not sure you could do this today. Besides the $10-billion satellite hookup to Long Island, space, and back, there was probably another million in damages to that nice man's laundromat.
Man, do I miss Dave in the 80s. Well, and the 80s, too.
I saw this stunt first on Leave it To Beaver, then on My 3 Sons, then on The Brady Bunch lol
The world needs a Letterman 10 year retirement reunion show in 2025. National security depends on it!
Ok we get it
Couldn't agree more, we need this show!
That space is now H&H Bagels.
I’ll pay for your wash if you will oversuds H&H Bagels
😮
Again, this is when television actually meant something. I remember when Dave attempted to come back during the 1988 writers strike and they couldn’t even do a decent top 10 list without the writers, but he tried his best to make things work on his show.
Love this.
5:38 That guy looks like Mikey Day from SNL. I'd wonder if that was his dad even though Wikipedia says he grew up in Cali
To be fair, it kinda feels like Dave didn't remember the child could hear him. He's pretty lucky the mother didn't tell him to go .... himself
I wonder if there are anymore baby turtles that need saving?
So damn funny!!!
