I still dream about the original layout of 'Top Town'. This is excellent.

I remember going into Lawsons with my Grandmother in the 1970s. The smell of coffee was wonderful. Anybody got any film of the bucket fountain? I used to think it was wonderful. Would stand and watch it for ages.

Wish we could go back to how it was it was so much better and original the council have made a complete mess of this town, I so miss the bustling atmosphere of the 80s/90s grimsby town.. Woolworths, the wimpy it's such a shame I tend to go to places like Lincoln and York now where they have kept it original.

Nice to see some people with Pride Record bags in one of the pictures. I worked for Prides and spent many busy days there back in the early eighties.

I liked it better then and the Friar Tuck was a great pub. Ok its all undercover now but its just not as nice. A case of developments for the developer and not the people.

I delivered all the concrete pre fabricated parts to build the precinct. It was stored on the Now car terminal along the 180 opposite the shell Garage. We called it the Lego building. Also delivered the Escalator in marks and Spencer's shop. The Wooden beams in the Cleethorpes Library.

Was a far better place back then open and fresh, instead of being in a green house, horrible now

I hated this place, they destroyed some real character in Grimsby to build this dump and Prestos, the Motel and St James' House ugly ugly buildings replacing some good solid architecture.
This was the real beginning of the destruction of Grimsby as a pleasant town to live and visit.

Change is not always for the best, this shows a town with character. Today it is empty and souless its dead.
The town is dying being taken over by greedy property builders like cydan homes.
Who knock up 2 bit houses and charge a fortune.
This town is dying and its so sad to see.

I don't mind Scunthorpe myself as I find the people are friendly there but its out of place in Lincolnshire as its more like a West Yorkshire town than a Lincolnshire one!
