The 1980s were fun. This was a war movie with the sport secondary, not the other way around despite an attempt with actual players and a star to provide authenticity. Those two British officers you showed in a couple of cuts proved in the script that they were under orders to escape and Stallone's character was down with the goal of escape. The dialogue in that tunnel scene under the bath you cut to reinforces that. Movies in the 80s: The hero always got the girl, the day was always saved, and everyone lived happier ever after no matter how cheesy it was.
Sorry, pal. I totally disagree. Sure, I was football fanatic as a kid, growing up, yep... In Trinidad. I still am a fanatic. But This movie was, in my opinion, a very exciting CLASSIC.
It was not a great work of art, but it was fun and many USA people told me they learnt about football because of this film. Again not a cinematografic classic but simply a fun two hours of fun.
i can remember this movie, i loved football in thelate70s and early 80s that was when i was in my teenage years, i remember some of those players like john Walrk who played for ipswich and was even at liverpool breifly, corny
@@JPlays0327 what pioneer? the guy had some of the best if not the best team members to pretty much do all the work for him while he got the undeserved glory. Pele is overrated and there is a reason that ALL futball fans agreed on and choose Maradonna as the greatest eveer before corrupt daddy fifa had to step in and just give it to Pele.
The problem with this movie is that it came during a time when 30 other classics were made.

Ipswich was a huge team at the time.John Wark was the biggest player in the English league.
You should make a video about 2004: the weirdest year in football history!
"Until now"😂😂😂😂

Nice video. But Chinatown was directed by Roman Polanski.
Damn ur right I meant casino royale… whoops. John Huston did act in Chinatown but good catch!
W
no he isnt... that would be Maradona. Pele was just Fifa and his own attempt to be the big star when he is overrated garbage.
He’s one of the pioneers of the game who evolved the game for Maradona to run
