Hej Andy, very informative and enjoyable videos. Do you have a link to the video for sharpening plane blades? I’ve looked through your playlist but cannot find this video. Med vänliga hälsningar från Sverige
Another great video, thanks Andy. I’ve always been a water stone guy but I use a diamond stone for first flattening of the back. I have the original Veritas jig and still love it. I have a small brass square to make sure it lines up correctly. The new one looks better though. Using the grinder for the initial bevel do you find you get a “hollow grind”? I always thought that would be advantageous but I haven’t used a grinder in the past. I bought a cheaper Tormak clone and wish I had just saved my money. It’s terrible, ground a lot of the stone to true it up and still can’t put a square bevel on a blade. I like your setup and think I will copy the grinder portion. I guess you need some Lee Valley affiliate links 😊. Thanks again for a great video and your back stronger than ever.
Thanks Kyle, Very kind comments, yes it does give a hollow grind obviously the smaller the diameter of the wheel the more pronounced the hollow. I don’t really find it an advantage or a disadvantage to be honest but I know it does split opinion in numerous forums. I also struggled with the Tormek, spent a fortune on additional wheels and accessories and still couldn’t get it to put a square grind on the blade. I am happy with this setup and am getting good results. And by the way, the links in the description are affiliate links :-) Cheers Andy
welcome back Andy.
Thank you Jeff,
