Tom Petty is so good at "telling it like it is through his vocal's whether it his song or not" he has a way of making you feel at home in his music, love that about Tom Petty.

Funny, even though they rose in the deep south (northern Fla), I never figured the Heartbreakers as a blues band. Since Tom's passing, I'm hearing lots of tunes that if not pure blues, were certainly blues influenced. This tune makes clear how both Tom and JJ Cale were baked in the blues. Thnx for putting this up. Oh yes, Bentmount's Hammond just sweats for us! Outstanding!

So true...and he even sounds a little like Dilon at times, like in this song....

Killer song.. I had a buddy that was a roadie for Allman Bros, this kind of reminds me of some of the tales from the road!

The things that happen in small club shows... Mike lost his guitar sound twice. 0:49 to 2:00 and again from 2:19 to about 3:00. You can hear the weird noise when his guitar comes back. The band picked up the slack. Tom's extra noodling in the intro was probably not planned. And Benmont really threw himself into the mix before Mike comes back in around 3 minutes. That's what a damm good band does. Great performance despite the tech problems.

Hadn't heard Tom singing this before today. Got a new cd 'Florida 1993' and heard this and came to see if there were any 'live' recordings. So thank-you so much to blisstanger :) - This is even better than the cd :)

I knew Clapton and cale was pretty tight, it's good to hear tom doing one of his songs, he never got credit enough for the song cocaine, Clapton made it his own

After Midnight was also a JJC song that Clapton made big. it made JJ big bucks over the years. Lynyrd Skiynryd also had success with Call Me the Breeze. if you like JJ Cale-written songs, i would suggest giving his versions a listen.
