      For the P-W "Wild" S.D.J should have said: "Jungle", "Animal", "Dangerous", "Game".

      @@scootergurl48, Sinatra campaigned hard for Kennedy. Lawford, JFK's brother-in-law, promised Sinatra a presidential visit. Sinatra had a helicopter pad put in at his house and beefed up security in expectation. The Kennedys were worried about rumors about Sinatra's mob connections at a time when Attorney General Robert Kennedy was supposedly cleaning up the mafia. Not only did JFK snub Sinatra, he rubbed his nose in it by going to Bing Crosby's instead. Sinatra refused to talk to Lawford after that, and made his reason clear by giving Bing Crosby the role that Lawford was supposed to have in Robin and the Seven Hoods.

    • @gusloader123
      @gusloader123 Год назад

      @@scootergurl48 Hello: Peter Lawford was one of "The Rat Pack" singers and joke tellers which played on Las Vegas stages/ night clubs. Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank (Mafia) Sinatra, Peter Lawford.
      Peter Lawford was married to a sister of President Kennedy. Sinatra wanted to be let into the Presidents "Family Circle" and was going to campaign or speak for the family in California. Kennedy was asked to come to So. Cal. and vacation / spend time with Sinatra and his "pals'. J. Edgar Hoover (Long-time F.B.I. Director) told / advised President Kennedy "NO!", Not at all because Sinatra was/ is / Mafia backed and financed. That would have been a very bad "Public Relations" problem. J.F.K.'s team / spokesperson told Sinatra " No Thanks, bye." (I'm guessing at the words used ;-) . )
      Sinatra got his "feelings hurt" and blamed Peter Lawford. After that, Peter Lawford and Sinatra were not "pals" anymore, so Lawford was not included in the movie "Robin and the Seven Hoods."
      This P-W episode was aired the same month that President Kennedy was murdered in Dallas, Texas. There are people with good reasons / possible reasons who thought/think the Mafia were one of the groups that wanted J.F.K. dead.
      Roger Mudd of NBC News (retired) did a weeklong program several years ago one episode/group per night for a week. It was titled: "The People (or Men) That Wanted Kennedy Dead." Very interesting investigation. The Mafia; The U.S.S.R.; Fidel Castro (Cuban Communist Dictator), V.P. Lyndon Baines Johnson; The C.I.A... I do not know, as I was in 2nd Grade back then. Many people did not like J.F.K. He was more of an anti-communist than Richard Nixon was. They ran against each other in the 1960 election.
      J.F.K.'s brother Robert was the U.S. Attorney General at the time and was asking lots of questions about the Mafia and people related to the mafia. Criminals hate people asking questions.

      Late 1990's / very early 2000's I often listened to a radio call-in talk show host in So. California named George Putnam. Program was titled: "Talk-Back!" Good program. No call-screener. Say what you want to say, unless it was a death threat against a person or people group.
      He had been a longtime radio-TV news announcer/reporter in Minnesota and (iirc) New York/New Jersey, and southern California. Sometimes he made extra $ by announcing / M.C.-ing at dance clubs / night clubs / sing-song places in the late 1930's time period. He stated that one evening at a night club / dance club where George was doing the announcing a singer was booked / advertised to sing that night, BUT Frank Sinatra had a couple of his Mafioso goons take that singer into the rest room and beat the singer up so he could not perform that night. Then Frank Sinatra got on stage instead and that was his showbiz career starter. I have seen the mug shot photo of young Sinatra on the internet.

      It was special episode. They were not playing with audience contestants who were trying to pay the rent, car bill and buy groceries that month. They were playing for their favorite charities. Loose rules for the show-bizzies.
      If you watch other Polly Bergen and/or Peter Lawford episodes, you will see that Lawford was very good player. Both Polly B. and Janet L were attractive women but , unlike many show biz gals, those two had something functioning between their ears.
      {Unlike the English Actress Claire Bloom, argh! I felt sorry for the contestants that week. She was daft. And so was the male guest that week. Clueless without a cue Card.}

    It must have been awkward for Sammy to mention his upcoming movie, since Peter was originally going to star in it, too. But, after personal issues developed between him and Frank (Sinatra), Peter was replaced with Bing Crosby. Allegedly, Sinatra never spoke to Peter again. I love Frank's music and acting, but I think he acted unreasonably, based on the details I've read and heard about the matter. Of course, only those two knew all the facts.

      Hello. I posted a detailed reply to "scootgurl48" above to the post by "Heinkle". Lots of information. I was in elementary school and hundreds of miles from The President or Lawford or Sinatra, but other folks "in-the-know" knew stuff about Sinatra. You might wish to scroll up a few posts and read it. Hope this is helpful to you.

      @@gusloader123 Hi, Gus. Thank you for your kind note. I found and read your other information-packed comment. There's been a lot of stories about Frank -- some of which I've read and many more I've not. Honestly, I really don't want the negative accusations to be true, because I like Frank's music and movies so much. However, Frank was a human being like the rest of us and he wasn't immune to making mistakes.
      One thing that is true is Frank helped raise a lot of money for various charities over his lifetime. Some he donated directly and some he helped raise by donating his time to give performances and donating all proceeds to the particular charity or cause. He would sometimes have Dean and Sammy go along with him.
      But, again, I know Frank wasn't perfect and he himself admitted to having a short temper in his younger years. Frank was known to be moody, jealous, and didn't like being alone -- especially at night. He was also reported to have severe insomnia. Those last two, if true, might explain why some of his parties would last until sunrise...after which Frank would finally go to sleep.
      I'm not famous and have no talents, so I can only imagine what a life with such professional demands paired with personal insecurities might be like...especially when living it out in front of the public. It's lucky for Frank that he didn't have to contend with the Internet, Smartphones (with recording capabilities and used my most people), and 24-hour-a-day news programs always looking for the latest salacious headline to report. In fact, I'm glad I'm a nobody and can live my meager existence in obscurity.
      Take care, Gus. I wish you good health and happiness.
