    For those who think the Link function is not working:
    There is an option in preferences under link to turn on or off sync start/stop and show or don't show the link button
    I was searching through the whole internet for why all the sets weren't playing at the same time but I finally found it. This video was great! Thank you so much!

I also didn’t kno I could open multiple ableton n have them linked together!!! That is basically an ENDLESS amount of add on towards our projects.. god bless you my new friend.. i freaking appreciate your time n work on everything. Great stuff. Suggestion: Name the tracks. DIscuss naming strategies to keep things clear. Example below.
    Name the main Ableton Set "MAIN 1-32". Name the next Set "DRUMS 1-8". Name the next Set "GUITARS 9-16". Name the next Set KEYS "17-24". Name the next Set "VOCALS 25-32".
    Your excellent video can be *even better* if you provide a good system for naming Tracks and Sets that helps the producer avoid confusion.
    Thanks for putting in the work to make this ambitious video. Your generosity will be rewarded.

      What you're suggesting does indeed make a lot of sense. Me personally, I'm more of a color guy, so when I implement this setup for my own projects, I'll simply select a color for the receiving track in the main set and then apply that same color to all the tracks in the subset I'm routing to the aforementioned receiving track. So for instance I'll have all the tracks in "DRUMS 1-8" purple and, in the "MAIN 1-32" set, the track receiving the drum mix will be purple as well. Should've done that in this video, too, I reckon. Would've added some much needed clarity as things can get a little confusing. Giving the sets meaningful names as you suggest would be the next step. Right now I actually do something similar, but with a different naming system, as I recently switched to iOS and the way audio routing is handled there is a little different. Might make a video on that actually, thanks for the idea!

    Subscription worth. Perfect hack. Great job. I just upgraded my Live lite 11 to 12.
    My main to go for drums is monster drum, the vst now is muti out routing, vst have 16 channels, in live lite we are limited to 8. So i should use 2 windows of Ableton to fit the vst channels right?

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  3 месяца назад

      Hey thanks! Not familiar with monster drums, but if at all possible I would just use its samples in a standard Drum Rack so you can keep them all in 1 track using this method: ruclips.net/video/UGM6O0rcjsc/видео.html

      @@TheNeonSyndicate having only 8 channels is fitting tight. It would be more easy to me run the vst in 16 audio channels e have another 8 channels to put on guitars, bass, synth, whatever...
      The rack thing works only with Ableton stock stuff? Cause I don't know how to use vst in Ableton drum rack. I don't think is possible. I mean you can load only wav. file, right?

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  3 месяца назад +1

      @@SlowDeath1993 Right. I thought it maybe gave you access to those individual .wavs or even pre-made racks. If that's not the case, you're right - 2 projects just for drums. If you can't send MIDI between projects, you're gonna need 2 instances, one per project, each with its own MIDI file covering the articulations you have in that specific project. If you're on Mac, you can use its built-in IAC driver to send MIDI from one instance of Live to the second one, meaning you can make do with only 1 MIDI file and 1 plugin.

    How could I do to record in the "Master project" each one of the little projects? Well, I can hear in my master project what I played in the another projects but I don't know how export in one entire song! I hope your response :D

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  Год назад +1

      Sure thing. The way to do this is to: 1) set the tracks in your master project from "input monitoring" to "auto"; 2) export each one of your "little projects" so it's just 1 stereo file; 3) import those files back into your master project on those tracks that you used to stream that audio to originally. I know, it's a bit of a workaround, but hey, it works and it's all we got so far. If you want more tracks in 1 single project, check out the video I just released: ruclips.net/video/NGU_Zi2INXk/видео.html

    This very a very effective use of routing I didn't know about!
    This may seem beside off topic, but I noticed in the comments that you said you use a Mac now and was wondering if you are familiar with the aggregate device setting?
    I ask this as a Windows user because I'd like to create something similar to aggregate device using ASIO Link Pro.
    For example, I have a Focusrite solo interface (2 channels), Roland electronic drum kit, and a keyboard. However, they all use different drivers so they can't all be used at same time because I've only got 2 inputs on the focusrite already taken up by a guitar and mic.
    Could I change the driver in each new instance of Ableton-in ASIO Link Pro- and route the audio back through the master to the original Ableton session like you have done in this tutorial?
    Thanks for a great tutorial it has really opened up some new possibilities for me.
    Also, I'd really like to see how you produce, edit and stream these tutorials. I've got a bit of an idea from your commentary although I'd like to know what you edit you yt videos with?

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  2 года назад

      Happy to hear it helped. As far as my setup, I use OBS to record my screen and either directly add my webcam as an overlay there or put my phone somewhere and use that to record myself. My voice goes straight from my embarrassingly cheap headset into Ableton, where it gets processed quite a bit to get a still rather bad but overall halfway passable sound, is mixed with any other material I might have going on in my arrangement and then streamed right into OBS. That means that once my session is over I'll usually have 1 track with everything there, which makes editing so much easier. Back when I was on windows, I used a free & open-source piece of software called shotcut which I highly recommend, very very lightweight, tons of tutorials online and capable of accomplishing more than I ever needed. You could also use Davinci Resolve but that program has a much larger footprint. Nowadays I just use iMovie. As far as using multiple drivers, let me first ask you this: how do you record all your instruments in Ableton with multiple drivers? Like, what does your workflow look like right now

    • @davidjackson4843
      @davidjackson4843 2 года назад +1

      Your voice sounds good. If I need to make a video recording, I'll follow your lead.
      In relation to work flow, I usually work "in the box" like you, just not quite as sophisticated. Although, I'd like to have the occasional jam with a friend, but because my drums are edrums and I only have 2 channels on the focusrite solo (1 is mic only, 1 guitar) I need to get a mixer or a new interface to do this.
      Then I saw this video and I thought maybe using ASIO link pro with 2 or 3 instances of Ableton each running with a different driver could solve the problem. I have my doubts though. What do you think? Get a mixer or try ASIO link pro?

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  2 года назад

      @@davidjackson4843 Hmm, I think I'm still missing something here: how would having multiple drivers help you? You only have 1 interface, right? Unless you're planning on getting some other interfaces to connect to other USB ports on your computer, then it would make sense to install their own, dedicated drivers as well and investigate this further. But again, if you only have 1 interface, then 1 driver is all you need really afaik! Or were you thinking of having your buddy bring their own?

    • @davidjackson4843
      @davidjackson4843 2 года назад +1

      Correct, I can only use 1 driver. Say I'm using the Focusrite interface, that only has 2 audio channels, say for a mic and guitar and I'd like to include the Roland drum kit as another audio source, but because it uses a different driver and the Focusrite interface only has two channels, I'd have to change to the Roland driver in Ableton preferences to play or record the drums separately. I.e. I can't jam with my buddy.
      On Mac's you can use the aggregate device function and combine different drivers into 1 driver to get around this problem.
      I thought something similar might me achieved using ASIO Link pro by linking different ableton sets, with each set using a different driver and then routing everything back to the original set like you did above. Can ALP only use one interface/driver at a time in each new instance?
      Sorry If this all sounds a bit convoluted, I'm probably making life hard for myself.

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  2 года назад

      @@davidjackson4843 Not at all man. The overarching point, I get: using ASIO Link Pro as a way to aggregate different audio drivers like you can on Mac. I don't get the Roland Drums part: does that kit also work as an audio interface (with its own dedicated driver)? That's just me not being very familiar with electronic drum kits - used to have a Behringer one years ago but that could only output MIDI, which you don't really need drivers for anyway

    • @TheNeonSyndicate
      @TheNeonSyndicate  10 месяцев назад +1

      The problem I see with your approach is, you won't be able to start the playback freely - you need to go pas the MIDI note that triggers your sample, which then will be played back right from the start, and that's it; if you only want to listen to or loop a small section, that won't be possible. As per your question, you probably don't need this from what I can tell, and that's fine. Other people might

Never run into any issues, no overheating (well, my phone would after a while), no nothing.
