@@gordonbarton8440 I can understand u. Hideki has machine guns for legs I'm sure. This song is actually performed by a sub-unit of Babymetal called Black Babymetal where the lead singer gets a break during long live shows and the other two girls perform as a duo. As many mentioned in your Rondo video, Tales of the Destinies is by far the most complex song they've ever done, and was only performed live one time. ruclips.net/video/UY0UPwKdXFk/видео.html
Road of resistance for the super fast double bass..or Yava because of the awesome breakdown. but even better Kimi to anime ga mitai (a cover) but great song.
Especially if he is into more of a jazz feeling, ‘Tales of the Destinies’ is about as close to jazz as Babymetal gets, what with all the changes in tempo and style all within one song.
@@The_Great_Darino I find all the changes break the song in a bad way. It is not impressive to me to have a thousand changes i prefer a good Grove. But a lot of of peaple seem to think that the more changes the better the song...it is a lot harder to come up with a simple yet catchy part (Billie Jean for example). I am kind of tired of all the new bands not having the talent to put a good song together and falling on that trend. I am not saying that the musicians in BabyMetal don't have talent, they obviously are covering different genres of metal so it's not about song writing is about using what is written and creating a song out of it, that does take talent but i was refering to a lot of new bands that are just plain and boring looks like MIT is teaching them all the exact same lessons.
yeah the triplet with the double bass drums on that speed is crazy also the alien can play bass drums like snare or tom, and his hands and legs are perfectly separated for incredible poly rhythm playing, and to add he never makes noises (w/ rims) or shows any inconsistency both in tempo and in tone.. hes just like a machine with a great sense of groove
Hideki is my favorite drummer in babymetal. The dude has crazy stamina and it's like if he was running a marathon in every concert! Anyway I'm also not so much into metal so I also prefer their more rock styled songs with pop chorus or when Suzuka sings solo. As for the drumming I like what they do in a song called megitsune, it sounds like a fun song to play the drums.
It’s quite interesting that you’re two BABYMETAL songs in and you haven’t even seen the full group together. There are three members, Su-Metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal. Your first video was one of Su’s solo songs, and this video you did one of the Moa/Yui duo songs (known as Black BABYMETAL). You gotta see them all together now! Thanks for this reaction, you really .have a great way of breaking things down. Hideki is a second generation drummer, his father and brother both were drummers. Were because both have passed away for separate reasons. Something I've heard about touring with Japanese bands they bring a larger than usual amount of staff. And the technicians meticulously set up equipment, so for example exactly like the drummer wants his set to be he'll get that in centimeters accuracy. The singing in this song was chosen to be monotone on purpose. While I've seen the English translations of the lyrics I'm not a 100% certain why the singing needs to be that way. But clearly it's meant to fit the song. Maybe just a style choice of course. While the 2 younger singers aren't as gifted as the older singer they can do more than just this. But obviously this song was chosen for you to react to because of the drumming. :-)

When you mentioned you had done a newer video I thought you would go for newer content. There is already an evolution between Sis. Anger and the stuff from Budokan like Rondo (2014 vs 2016), as it is already in their second album era, but they were still a very similar Babymetal to their origins. During Black Night they had started growing already, and just released their first album, but they still had not toured out of Japan in a serious way and they had still to boom. 2016 was the year they released their second album and had already 2 world tours on their backs, the world had grown to know them. But from that stage on their careers to nowadays is when they have changed the most. Today the girls are not girls anymore but beautiful young ladies, one of the three had to leave due to an injury so now it is two of them, and sadly in 2018 they also lost one of the two lead guitars in an accident (rest in peace Mikio Fujioka), so the Kami Band has changed roster and style a bit too. When you said you wanted to try newer stuff I thought you were doing something from the Metal Galaxy album. I think the best songs from the last album are actually the trilogy of songs that people call Trilogy of Lights, that were dedicated to this losses they had (Starlight / Shine / Arkadia). So if you feel like trying, Starlight could be a good starting point (the MV on the official channel is weird because it was released in 2018, they were still waiting for Yui to come back from her injury so they didn't put the girls in the video). Oh and by the way, Babymetal bassist has also a Jazz band. Mikio was there too before he died, and also its drummer, Yuya Maeta, has played with Babymetal when Hideki wasn't able to. It is not going to bring you a lot of viewership, but if you want to check it is called Kari Band (仮BAND). Thanks again for a great video. I guess people has told you already, but this Sis. Most people start with their song Pisces, which was actually altered for the "live session" recording by the drummer, who wanted to do something different with it. Even if you've already heard it, I'm really curious about your thoughts on it.
thanks for another great reaction! so whats next for you? Road of Resistance by babymetal live in japan? another great banger, and the drummer once again will go the german mg42 mode :)
Really the songs of black babymetal (yui and moa) do not stand out because of the voice, but it is a choreographed stridency and it is really nice to enjoy and see ... Musically it is very good ... The voice that stands out is that of Susuka ... but their songs are very varied and they play with all kinds of genres.
Hey, thanks for doing this breakdown! I've always really liked the drum part of BABYMETAL, nice to have someone do an analysis of the drums. You are correct hideki has real chops, his stamina is pretty incredible. It has been said(not sure if it's actually true) that hideki had to be carried out of the tokyo dome after the second day of thier two day set there because his legs were worn out(they played thier entire discography over the two days) This is what's known as "black BABYMETAL" which is Yui and Moa alone(to give the lead vocalist Su a break) and as such is much less melodic. They have great voices, but lack the power of Su. Black BABYMETAL pulls more from really heavy metal(black/death/etc) and nu-metal, relying less on their vocal talent and can sound a little flat when compared to the power of Su's performance.
From what I remember from an interview in this song they are flat by choice, I'm not sure why maybe a stylistic choice or fits the lyrics somehow. Here are 2 things mentioned about that performance by Japanese fans: - Aoyama was carried (by staffs) and left the Black night stage after the show. They say the last [call&response] (after IDZ) was so long and he seemed exhausted by exerting all his powers for the last drumming. - Aoyama set a dirty towel beside him during the Tokyo Dome show. The towel seemed his died father's one. Someone wrote "He brought his father to the big stage.". I was so impressed with this episode. His father (Jun Aoyama) was a famous drummer in Japan. He passed away 3 years ago suddenly. Something else which is interesting, he has tweeted after Sonisphere: "It's my day off and I was doing some preparation for a next project and just spending a relaxing time at a hotel. Then I fell asleep and had a dream of my late father, who was somehow laughing hard. I wonder if he came to see my performance yesterday and enjoyed it. Or just laughing at my Kami outfit?" And an other time: "I don't know why but I often dream of my father while abroad. Does he stalk me? He was devouring ramen lol."
@@autohmae Yeah, the black BABYMETAL songs are designed to not even try to compete with Su's singing(they wouldn't be able to) but rather explore other genres of metal that don't require powerful melodic singing (nu-metal, death metal, etc.) I hadn't heard about hideki bringing his dad's towel with him to tokyo dome, thats way cool. He (and the rest of the band) seem like a really cool guy.
If you want to see Hideki's feet in the act, the Road of Resistance Video.... or one of his promotional videos. ruclips.net/video/v2ZvFcm7aUM/видео.html If you want a musical mindscrew, the drummer's worst nightmare of Tales of the Destinies.
Hey man, a great recommendation for a drum playthrough would be Ray Hearne (of the band Haken) playing "Nil By Mouth." It's an absolute experience in drum technique, and an utter joy to listen to.
It's interesting, the qualities that you didn't like about the melody of the lyrics are the same qualities that make it one of my favorite songs. It's sort of a doom-y, sludge-y melody, definitely a lot of monotone, but I love the way most of the melodic lines have a downturn at the end, its like each line is fighting to stay alive and eventually collapsing, with parts like the melody before the chorus have a very weightless feel to them for a few moments to create that tension. It's sort of creepy, definitely some Black Metal-ish vibes mixed in with the cuteness. Hard to describe I guess but I love it! Respect, good video.
The song is from Metallica's St Anger. The girls have stated a number of times Metallica is their favorite band. At a music festival Metallica met them and spend time talking to them about Metal music and being a Metal band. Moa and Yui describe what they do as "Dance and Scream". Traditionally in Japan wandering storytellers/musician would be have a pair dancer to interpret their story/songs, hence the trio. There is a reason why the Japanese bands so technically good. Training from an early age is one. Another is the "music market" is really tough, Japanese audiences are expecting excellence and bands/performers who are so-so don't make it. Also there are many venues for the bands/performers to build a following, some fully equipped, so the bands only need to show up with their instruments. Japan in the #2 music market in the world, Kpop's biggest foreign market, bands forming, dividing, reforming and totally new creating a dynamic that gives us Western Barbarians some really top flight bands.
I love your reactions to Hideki, he's one of my favorite metal drummers ❤️ To listen to him more I recommend Headbanger or Yava with the Kamiband intro ^^
Hey Mike how you been? I need your help! Got a friend and guitarist/writer I finally convinced to listen to Band-Maid. His current favorite bands are Gojira, Tool, Alter Bridge, Mastodon and Led Zeppelin. From these bands and what you've heard from Band-Maid so far, what songs should I give him first? Thanks 😊
I'm Japan their legends. I c it. These girls went in to something they knew nothing about n fuzzed metal with whatever they saying. Idk what they're saying at first but the band is incredible n compliments Su voice. I don't think any band can compete. The drummer is in another world n I like it. I don't do metal but this band got me. SuMetal voice is amazing and goes with the band somehow. Idk how they're doing it but they did it n succeeded💯 Much props in my eyes. I feel like the band is heavy but Su livens it up. Can't forget Yui n Moa. They are angels dancing around a Queen💯🔥 #QueenSu🦊
💀 💕 / 🔥 😡 😡 🔥 "I will knock your ill-nature into shape. Burn! Burn your anger hidden inside!" - Sis. Anger The littlest girls get the heaviest songs. : ) This song is about being angry, mostly at dumb boys. The song was kind of controversial, and the lyrics are a bit rude, especially coming from young girls. The equivalent would be using an expression like "dumb bastard". Unfortunately, this song hasn't been performed since July 2017, when Yui was still with the group.
Mike I'd like your thoughts on Megu Sakuragawa of the band Roselia. Megu and the rest of the band are not primarily musicians they are anime voice actresses who voice a series about an all-girl band called Roselia and the actresses perform live shows as their characters. Megu's hair is even styled like her character. Check out "Black Shout" or "Avante-Garde History"
It's funny to me. I'm not a Metal Head. I'm not a fan of J-Pop, K-Pop, A-Pop. But, a few days ago I fell into the Foxhole and now I can't stop watching Babymetal and watching people watch Babymetal. I like your take on the songs. Very interesting. Keep it up. Hideki Aoyama is worth analyzing. The Kami Band is amazing. Every member is highly skilled. They are session musicians and also have their own projects. They are professional in every sense of the word. And the fact that they are willing to sit back and let these three, two now... :-( young ladies take the spotlight just shows great respect for the ladies and makes me appreciate them even more. Not even a week into being part of The One and I'm still surprised with every song they do. Hello, my name is Bryan, I'm 54 years old and I love Babymetal. Su, Moa, and Yui are under my protection. I think we all feel that way about these ladies. Peace
nice analysis of the drums in this song! if you really want to analyze a babymetal song where the drums stand out in a beautiful way .. try "amore" , "arkadia" or "tales of the destinies" ill be waiting! 🦊🤘

I'd like to point to a couple of Babymetal tracks that I find interesting (particularly drum wise): - KAGEROU @ Legend Metal Galaxy 2020. Anthony Barone was the drummer in this one. The video is audio only taken live from the concert ruclips.net/video/H2dCzFWvFJ4/видео.html - SYNCOPATION studio version. Hideki Aoyama is likely the drummer here. Kinda punk-metal melodic piece that I love so much ruclips.net/video/K_nMNVUTkng/видео.html Thank you... ^^
I love how you count metal beats because it's completely different from how I count. What you call 16ths I call 32nds. But I'm probably about 10 years younger so maybe that's the difference
If you want to hear Hideki go all out, listen to the power metal anthem "Road of Resistance". If you want to try something much more technical, as in full-on progressive metal, listen to "Tales of the Destinies". But personally I think some of the best drums in any Babymetal song can be found in "Akatsuki" (which also has an excellent dual guitar bit).
@@pikachu3b366m I agree. However, I doubt this guy would be particularly interested, as the drums aren't exactly live there either lol Maybe he would like the traditional drums they have in it tho...hmmmm

You are correct hideki has real chops, his stamina is pretty incredible.
It has been said(not sure if it's actually true) that hideki had to be carried out of the tokyo dome after the second day of thier two day set there because his legs were worn out(they played thier entire discography over the two days)
This is what's known as "black BABYMETAL" which is Yui and Moa alone(to give the lead vocalist Su a break) and as such is much less melodic.
Here are 2 things mentioned about that performance by Japanese fans:
- Aoyama was carried (by staffs) and left the Black night stage after the show.
Something else which is interesting, he has tweeted after Sonisphere:
"It's my day off and I was doing some preparation for a next project and just spending a relaxing time at a hotel. Then I fell asleep and had a dream of my late father, who was somehow laughing hard. I wonder if he came to see my performance yesterday and enjoyed it. Or just laughing at my Kami outfit?"
And an other time: "I don't know why but I often dream of my father while abroad. Does he stalk me? He was devouring ramen lol."

Yeah, the black BABYMETAL songs are designed to not even try to compete with Su's singing(they wouldn't be able to) but rather explore other genres of metal that don't require powerful melodic singing (nu-metal, death metal, etc.)
I hadn't heard about hideki bringing his dad's towel with him to tokyo dome, thats way cool. He (and the rest of the band) seem like a really cool guy.
@@owenbauer4524 Have you seen the video ?: "BOH reflects BABYMETAL Yokohama Arena 2015 [ENG SUB]" their is no doubt they are amazing guys. :-)
Insane drumming!
No, I think the "Road of Resistance" will be more interesting than "Tales of the Destinies".
Arkadia for a beautiful and technical song or Tales of the destinies for a super technical song
Japan in the #2 music market in the world, Kpop's biggest foreign market, bands forming, dividing, reforming and totally new creating a dynamic that gives us Western Barbarians some really top flight bands.
you should check out Chris Turner of Oceans Ate Alaska. his drum play throughs of "Escapist", "Covert" or "Metamorph" are all really amazing.
I love your reactions to Hideki, he's one of my favorite metal drummers ❤️ To listen to him more I recommend Headbanger or Yava with the Kamiband intro ^^
Not only the drummer is fucking fast, he's impressively tight. Not a single beat missed.
The last tour members were from "Galactic Empire" except for the drummer...
They are angels dancing around a Queen💯🔥

"I will knock your ill-nature into shape.
Burn! Burn your anger hidden inside!" - Sis. Anger
The littlest girls get the heaviest songs. : )
This song is about being angry, mostly at dumb boys.
Peace
Nice reaction
Try "Babymetal - Tales of Destinies" for another intense drum plays...
0:41 the first pronounce for Hiraki is the best one and the second pronounce of Kami band is the correct 👍
nice analysis of the drums in this song!
if you really want to analyze a babymetal song where the drums stand out in a beautiful way .. try "amore" , "arkadia" or "tales of the destinies"
ill be waiting! 🦊🤘
React to some Meshuggah, their drummer is one of the best.
MGLA and Sepultura have great underrated drummers too
Make a reaction of Mgla-Exercises in Futulity V(Drum Cam). Interesting what you say on this one.
if you want to hear the drummers punk chops.... react to AWADAMA FEVER.... it's about bubble gum.... if you want to hear the drummers sloppy crashes ..... react to KAGEROU.... I don't know what it's about .... but I like it a lot
from my pow u are the only one real drummer teacher on youtube
I recommend tales of the destinies for your next reaction
I'd like to point to a couple of Babymetal tracks that I find interesting (particularly drum wise):
- KAGEROU @ Legend Metal Galaxy 2020. Anthony Barone was the drummer in this one. The video is audio only taken live from the concert ruclips.net/video/H2dCzFWvFJ4/видео.html
- SYNCOPATION studio version. Hideki Aoyama is likely the drummer here. Kinda punk-metal melodic piece that I love so much ruclips.net/video/K_nMNVUTkng/видео.html
Thank you...
But personally I think some of the best drums in any Babymetal song can be found in "Akatsuki" (which also has an excellent dual guitar bit).
i love the break down
react to crystal lake- aeon, those flashpits are sick👌🏼
This is a tongue in cheek song with funny lyrics. Not meant to be melodic, just fun..⚡️👊🏽🤘🏾🦊
You should check out Junna`s drum cover of Dragonforce - Trough fire and flame, its so awsome!
check out Nemophila - Oiran
Try Blood Stain Child with the song Kamui. Japanese band with crazy drums. Future metal.
I recommend "Road of Resistance", "Karate", "Megitsune", "Kageru"
You should do a reaction to the drum playthrough of Demolisher by Evgeny Novikov of Slaughter To Prevail. It will blow your mind.
For more amazing Japanese metal drumming, I highly suggest Crystal Lake - Apollo
If you find the drums fast in this one, you haven't heard Arkadia :)
Love it when a musician breaks down and analyzes a piece.... It is so much more enjoyable when you kind of understand what's going on.
Try :
Starlight, Megitsune live Makuhari Messe, Syncopation live, Arkadia e Tales of Destinies live.
Megitsune at Legend 1997 probably not the best recommendation, since the band wasn't live
I think Megitsune is best experienced through the Official MV for first time listen.
@@pikachu3b366m I agree. However, I doubt this guy would be particularly interested, as the drums aren't exactly live there either lol
Maybe he would like the traditional drums they have in it tho...hmmmm
Mike, I love your reaction and basically your channel overall but it’s BABYMETAL not separated Baby and Metal lmao. Keep up the good work and keem em coming!
I keep seeing people mention Tales of the Destinies. Are you trying to break him? lol
Tales Of The Destenies Pleasee or Catch Me If You Can
Please react to Oki Fadhlan - Jasad (siliwangi) drum playthrough
Are you ok? You haven’t posted in a long time.
I took a new job and it has been non stop for months now. Things seem to be slowing down so I am hoping to get back at making videos. Thanks for checking in.
React to Tales of Destinies please and figure out all the drum patterns🤣 ..
If you didnt like this maybe give these a chance. Kagerou (with Kami Band Intro) | LIVE Compilation (HQ), And/or 'Awadama Fever' 「あわだまフィーバー」(Kami band intro) [LIVE PROSHOT] . Or give "Black BABYMETAL" another shot with "BABYMETAL- Black Babymetal-GJ HD".....But the most epic track is "Tales of the Destinies - Tokyo Dome"
Upvote Tale of the Destinies.
hideki is a god
Please react to Tales Of The Destinies.
Very cool channel. It'd be awesome to see your reaction to some Animal as Leaders
Melodic vocal belongs only to Su-Metal voice 🤭 . BLACKBABYMETAL voice usually use rap vocal and simple music, you know, their dancing are so hard and so energic, that why BLACKBABYMETAL song maybe little bit monoton.
Good reaction man 🤘
