Let's be honest, I have never seen someone explain " steps to write an essay" in this wonderful way. I highly appreciate your efforts. Hope you have a great day 💕💕💕
As an English Literature professor and ESL instructor for many year, you are an excellent teacher; you explain the "details", which students need. They need "detailed explanation". My career is in it's twilight, but I wish I could have taught classes with you and your brother. I'm a swimmer and runner too, so I believe we all have a lot in common...good luck with your career.
@@ReginaPhalange14 it depends if emphasis is on the word or the whole sentence. If it is only one word at the end of a sentence, then it is outside. We debated this punctuation many times in the 1980s MLA conferences
I really want you to continue teaching English. Your classes are well structured and coherent giving valuable information about topics wich are rather hard to understand. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I was saying that the best understandable teacher while I was watching your videos at pierce college. Today I coincidently discovered the channel and I do not think I am able to give up watching your videos. Thank you!
Just one quick question to sentences and wording of the example writing. Are they a bit colloquial for academic essay and some of the lexical repetitions? Wish all well🎉🎉
Yes indeed you don’t need pretty expensive shoes for everyday running! Indeed, in developing countries most people do not posse eve shoes they use slippers or sandals. I come from India so I have seen over there Running - no requirements of particular suits like swimsuits Easy to access as you can just start running out your home while for swimming you need to find out natural water bodies like lake or shallow river or any public or private swimming pools
I understand the paragraph, but right now I can't write and hope I will be able to write the complex and compound sentences someday like you write, that like many commas and preposition phrases used in a complete sentence. I am always worrying about my grammar mistakes when writing long sentences. I think I already know basic grammars, but when I am talking and writing, I can only do simple sentences, not fancy writing like yours. I think I need continually learning more from your courses.
Hi madam, First foremost, I would like to tell you that I like your teaching method. Could you please conduct these kinds of pharses on RUclips channel please? 1)on those who 2)at those who 3)from those who 4)with those who 5)in those who
Hi Mohamed, yes, those are phrases that can be used within adjective clauses. I have two videos on adjective clauses on the channel. Here is an example: I travel with those who are adventurous and outgoing. I like to take advice from those who are aware of what is going on. But "those" is being used as a pronoun for coherence (glue) in connecting ideas for flow in writing. I would like to make a video on that in the future, yes. Thanks for the tip.
Hi. Thank you for this wonderful explanation. I just wanna ask u if u could explain to me shortly how to write a stance in essay. I need it urgently for my literary analysis essay. Actually, I really wonder how am I supposed to emphasize my position in a literary analysis essay because it this type of essays is different from the other ones. Thank u in advance
Hi Mohamed, I'm sorry but I don't actually teach literature or literary analysis so I can't really say. I focus more on language and basic composition skills. I'm sorry
QUESTION - If I comparing 2 plays (Hamlet & Oedipus the King), how many quotes should be included in each paragraph? 3 from each play totaling 6 or 3 total? I am struggling with this as I am taking an online self driven course without an instructor.
Unless you're a SOPHIST, your argument's goal is not to convince others your opinion is right, your goal is to uncover the truth. And yes - truth does exist.
I'm a sophist then. I also think pathos, ethos, and logos help us determine our argument's point. I don't know much about the truth in a philosophical sense but would love to learn more
@@BreakingEnglish Being a Sophist means you value "winning" an argument over uncovering truth. Ethos, Pathos and Logos are not exclusive to the Sophists. If you are wielding rhetorical powers you have a responsibility. It's a bad idea to call yourself a Sophist, and it's also a bad idea to teach others that "winning" an argument is the goal of argumentation. If you are interested to learn about truth, as you've suggested, perhaps you could benefit from a critical thinking class.
Dude, my MA is in rhetoric and TESL. I know exactly what a Sophist is and read a lot about them, including Plato's, "Sophist," which is where I learned about them. I also teach critical thinking. Why imply I need it? Do you hear how you sound insulting? Does it give you pleasure to come on here and insult people? Wtf? I brought up EPL because in composition we teach students that they write for three main purposes: to entertain, inform, or PERSUADE. This is literally a video on how to write a persuasive essay and you're over here talking about teaching truth. I just want my students to get through transfer level English for goodness sake! Obviously we can write for way more reasons than the ones we teach students to write for in composition, but teaching about truth isn't high on our priority list when there's so many other disciplines that are dedicated to that. I still like Sophists. They're very misunderstood
@@BreakingEnglish My apologies, I had no such intentions, just to be clear. I see critical thinking as a life-long journey and so there's no shame in needing to improve in that regard, we can all improve, including me. I am convinced that truth should always be the number 1 priority and that everything else should stem from that, including persuasion. As a Copywriter/Marketer/Sales Man I am deeply aware of the harmful potential of untruthful persuasion. It appears we cannot agree on the Sophists. All I ask is that you give this some more critical thought, and I shall do the same, you have my word. Best of luck.
Yes, of course. I don't think you could determine how much critical thought a teacher gives to their profession based off of one aspect of their job, lecturing. Glad you seek truth in your job. That is a good thing you do that :)

How are you a language arts teacher but don’t know basic grammar it’s “many years”
Awww, bless your heart … and your insecurities!
Your comment was grammatically incorrect, whereas his comment was just a TYPO made on a casual post.
Well, the period and coma also go before the quotations. But i guess that’s besides the point.
