    It's only an unethical shot when the shooters doesn't practice at the same distances that they attempt shots on an animal. When I say practice I also include someone that has practiced enough to be able to make accurate wind calls to keep the freedom seeds in the vital area. Everyone forgets about practicing wind calls for hunting purposes.
    So many times I've seen video of people gut shooting deer at 500 yards cause they can't call the wind conditions. There was a video out there of some moron hitting a deer in the hip at 550 yards, and they never once mentioned anything about calling the wind, and it was clearly windy. I think they took the video down cause I can't find it right now.
    With your obvious shooting skills though I'm confident that you'd make very accurate wind calls and hits at much greater ranges than most.

  • @JZ5439
    @JZ5439 3 года назад

    it may not make a difference at longer range but keep in mind that whitetail deer's vision is more sensitive towards the blue end of the color spectrum, for short range you'd be better off wearing nothing but blaze orange than anything blue.

Too bad about the bullet shortage: though building up a load is certainly part of the game, shooting a load you know is the fun part.

      I'm more or less posting so that I get notified if he responds, but for me, it's a shot that I know I am within acceptable accuracy and I'm certain the animal will not to move enough to matter between when I shoot and impact. Though I wouldn't call this hunting, I think this setup is a great way to ethically take your next meal: it's not so far out that the deer can move significantly before the shot hits, being this far out you can come and go without agitating them, and knowing exactly the distance they're at means you'll be well within acceptable accuracy.

    Thanks for the 'ride-along' ;-) When you get those new video tools, it may take a bit of trying out to get the setup that gives the quality that you want, but, you'll get there !
    BTW, I appreciate, also, that you don't go out to pop a deer just for the hell of it; there are some times and places where they can be a pest, but not often that you *have to* shoot them...my idea, if you need to get some meat, or have a particular love of venison (or.better by far, Elk/ Moose), good to take on ethically, and not to take out the best male in the county! Better a younger, healthier, more tender animal...With the kind of rifles and ammo we have available, there is not much 'sport' to knock down game at 300-600 yards, it seems to me. Targets are better 'sport'. and you are rather good at THTA :-) BTW, I hope that the 'busy-ness' is good 'business' ;-) Keep on X'in!
