THIS! I often work with coded markers on maps that correspond to written details in spreadsheet. A spreadsheet row can change easily. In the past it meant if a new item was introduced mid-list, I'd either have to go into illustrator and manually change every number higher than X. Or simply make the new entry X.X I have a huge mapping project coming up and this is going to potentially save me hours of time and make the project smoother for everyone. People who give these little useful things away for free are the fading heartbeat of the internet. Thank you.

Hi. If you downloaded v0.5, the option in the dialog is called "Add leading zeros". The first option adds zeros automatically, the second option allows you to specify the length of the number, which affects the number of zeros
Hi, thanks for the script, works really well! I'm working with chinese character, and kanji, is there a way i can replace the number with sequence of chinese character?
I'm not familiar with this system. Instead of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, certain characters are used to write numbers? This requires creating a dictionary in a script that converts the calculations of numbers into their character form for Chinese characters and Japanese kanji.

So where do we find this "Make number Sequence" tab on illustrator?
This is a script for Adobe Illustrator. In the video description there is a link to download it, you can also read the instructions on how to install scripts in Adobe Illustrator. After installing the scripts and restarting Illustrator, they appear in the File > Scripts menu.
Is there an option to duplicate the numbers while still in sequence? I need to create sheets of numbered stickers, but 10x of the same number on each artboard, up to 100 or more artboards with the numbers in sequence. This looks ALMOST what I need, but not sure :)

I had to the same in a project I was working on but with event tickets. Normally, these type of tickets duplicates the serial number in different parts of the print area. My solution was to isolate the serial numbers per layers: One layer for the small serial numbers and another one for the duplicates (large ones). You just have to be careful in selecting the text boxes in the same order in both layers and then apply the script
Hello! Im using this awesome script that you made. Now I'm using it to make a bingo cards to make random numbers. Now I'm having problems with it, it seems there's a limit when selecting many group text boxes and generate it at the same time, it can only accommodate 3 group text boxes. I'm doing a 100 pcs bingo cards can you help me with it?

@@Sumi-mz9dh The script inserts one number in one text object: point text or area text. The script does not create multiple numbers within a single text object. The video shows that one number is inserted into one object. For example, at 1:29.
Friend, a question. Does your program have any option or way to modify it so that the numbers can be 1234 digits? It starts from 1 but I would like it to start from 0001 and put 4 digits
There is currently no such option to handle leading zeros when the final number has fewer digits. I will think about your question. Currently, 0001 can only be done if you have 1000 text objects and "Add zeros" is enabled.

Hi. Yep, sure. Adobe's scripting language (ExtendScript) is universal across platforms, unlike plugins (C++ language). This means that most scripts for Adobe Illustrator that you find on the web with the extension .js, .jsx will work for you on MacOS and PC.
Is there any way to do a number sequence like such "2307-001 though 2307-250" for some reason it works but the dash disappears.
If I understand your task correctly. You need to create the text: 2307-{%n}. {%n} - special numbering placeholder after the dash. Create as many copies of this text object as you need. Select all of them. Run the script (latest v0.4.2) and select options: Add zeros + Only {%n} placeholder.
I appriciate the prompt response I basically just outlined the "2307-" and use the 001-250 worked great. Thanks again for this beautiful time saver.

This video is in English, it shows all the basic ways to use the script. The version of Illustrator does not matter. What is your problem with the script?

I see a typo at the end of your comment -> ). Make sure you have {%n} in Illustrator.

how to active script
