They were good together no doubt. However the lead singer prior to Keith was just as good if not better. His name was Roy Lee Centers; Google Roy Lee Centers to listen. There's 3 videos on Google entitled Ralph Stanley at Pound, Virginia which are three separate recordings of a live show in a grocery store parking lot. Roy Lee, Keith and Ricky Skaggs are there with Ralph. Ralph is even directing parking for the grocery store...the man paid some dues.@@andrewcaplen5088

This is a beautiful song. Nobody, nobody could do it better than Keith and Ralph. My little grandson that is 7 yrs old loves this song. I play it for him everytime he visits. I ask him why he likes this song. He said " I just like his voice." My grandson knows great music!

I live in Pineville right out of Harlan and it was an almost every weekend night thing for the family to get together and play bluegrass records on Granny's front porch. Somebody would bring out the "Spring Water" and we'd dance and carry on into the morning.

Sent you another message. I'm 50 years old and I've heard it for years. Call the folks at Rebel Records and talk with them about it...Ask them and listen to their response...It's pretty interesting. Believe what you will. I was told this about 20 years ago.

@DeathbringerDrago Larry does it so well because it's IN HIM...He's Carter's Stanley's son...Everyone knows that in Bluegrass...Ever wonder why Ralph chose him to be his lead singer after Carter died...Gave him his guitar and his boots...
