Its been a year since u commented , so ignore if all has changed, but heres my take. Its not that i belief this but its more so i know this to so based on xp points, 1. bad news for u = u are somewhat right the anxiety will never pass / Good News = is u can ward it off , and it sounds to simple but it works and that - All in on Action cures Ol'Anxiety , keep moving on yr intention and so by taking immediate action , now does this mean u can never stop , hell no , because a designated deserved relax lol funny enough is an action , so it really all about zero hesitation and things like hesitation such as bad reasoned procrastination ( as procrastination can be a good thing when sussing and veting something u would like to take action , i could go on n on but i hope that this is a good enough lead for u to consider , a hint in the best direction a sort of north star to follow. Good Luck - yea nar thats sucks , i was like that , Again Good Luck.

In the Seventies I had a social fear that effected every aspect of my life. I was too scared to leave my house as if the outside world was a jungle full of dangerous animals. But there were times I had toe leave my home. To see the therapist. ‘What’s there to be afraid of?’, the therapist asked me, ‘ a stranger passes you by. Nothing happens. Right? Nothing, except I’m dying inside. You described it properly. The fear of not being able to cope. Amazing. I’ve seen a lot of therapist and this is the first time somebody understands what that fear is all about. I’ve been waiting for this common sense conclusion. Why didn’t any expert understand that? All those years I felt so misunderstood by those people who sad: ‘ There’s nothing to be afraid of. You’re not gonna die.’ It’s the fear of not being able to cope. Exactly. Thank you.

You’re more than welcome. I think there is a book that you would get a lot of benefit from that talks about this idea. The name of the book is “feel the fear and do it anyway.“ The author is Susan Jeffers. It should be pretty easy to find on Amazon.

I hope this will help somebody. I am 62 I take my whole identity as being a rock and roll drummer. 6 years ago after a 20-year layout I started playing again. I was scared to death to get up on stage at these blues jams here in Dallas Texas out of fear that I would not be able to impress or perform adequately. In fact pretty much scared to death, however I knew that if I was to get to be able to get work as a drummer I was going to have to overcome this. So I just kept getting up Time After Time and now there is little anxiety. I always pray God please help me perform to the best of my ability and most of the time that is exactly what occurs. In some cases you can face your fear and after a while your fear will dissolve like Kool-Aid in a glass of water

I'm an autistic schizophrenic aged 56.
I've been a rock and blues singer since I was 19 but I haven't been in a band since 1990 because of isolation.
I view music as my social currency as it draws people to me, and at some point I'm going to have to make an effort to go back to the stage with a band.
Reading your comment was helpful to me.

This is exactly what I have been dealing with all my life. An overprotective father who kept saying 'be careful, don't do that, you'll hurt yourself', which made me fearful of everything and doubt myself all the time, it's so disempowering. It's been a huge struggle to learn to overcome that negative core belief, without therapy. Still working on it. Thank you for this wonderful advice 🙏

You make an important point. Work is important for good mental health. You may want to start off with volunteer work. There is also something called Vocational Rehabilitation Services that exists in every state of the United States. Contact the branch in your state. There are also private vocational and career counselors. Here is a video I made on the importance of work for healing from depression. ruclips.net/video/LVfED9DBNRU/видео.html

The first step is just getting active at any type of work. Dont necessarily just go for that career, do any job to get you into a routine. A routine will help break the cycle and once you start to feel better you can start to search for more long term situations, What if is the worst thing you can ever think, throw those two words out the window. Getting a routine should be your first short term goal.

Thank you so much Douglas. I've always had a problem with people, Depression and low self esteem, not feeling good enough about myself. Of course, the bottom line is not being able to cope. And guess what? I now find myself doing a job where not only do I have to mix with people internally, but also have to deal with the public. I kept telling myself " I don't feel strong enough to keep doing this job" I worry that depression will get the better of me! My long term depression is due to dysfunctional parents. I can only recall one instance of my mother comforting me! It felt so good!

The problem with this logic is that not everybody can cope with these things. I went through a hellish crisis about 2 years ago that I am not over that triggeted my feelings of inferiority, abandonment and probably some other ones. So badly that I could barely stand living. I went to bed at a 10 and woke up at a 10. It was literally hell on earth. It gave me a lot more compasdion for extreme mental disorders and people who are hospitalised. I was almost one of them. I would have been if I had someobe to take care of my children. The one thing I never want to forgoet is how terrifying that experience was so it will never happen again.

I went through alot of anxiety just over 2 years. I ended up fearing a certain noise. I tried running away from it as much as I could but that just added to it. It was only when I learnt about the amygdala and how it affects your body with the physical symptoms of anxiety and to face fear straight on, that I was able to start my recovery. I think you need to understand anxiety first and have some knowledge about the amygdala before you can begin your recovery. A brilliant book I read was "rewire your anxious brain". It helped me so much. Love your videos. And thanks.

Hi douglas, last month was terrible for me. But right now i am fantastic. Man, i get depressed and i am paranoid sometimes. People just have to hang in there. It will pass with time. My last episode lasted about one month. Don't know how i made it. But with GODS help i did. You have to go with the seconds where you feel great and know it's going to be like that all the time if you just hang in there.

Than dough this was really helpful. It is something that I have unconciously been doing after suffering from anxiety n depression for a loooong time. I have been thinking that I have to try to get on n do everyday things as much as I can...I mean force myself to the point it is comfortable n not to the point it's too much pressure n feel more depressed afterwards. I have also decided that I am not going to get upset by what people think n what people say. If they've got a problem with me it's THEIR problem. This has been over a long time of thinking about things n what I can do to help myself. It didn't happen over nite but did happen eventually. I hope my comments help someone.

Mine is fear of death and what’s next.
I believe we have a soul/spirit/frequency that lives on, but that not everyone has a good time after they leave this body. I’ve done much research on this topic and no, I’m not religious.
This fear continues far into the future and the years of this lifetime do not even compare to the years of distant future time where my anxiety takes me.

The thought that arises when your feeling anxiety coming on has the same “value” as the thought of a banana, both thoughts come from the same place, they randomly pop up in your head which is completely normal and how all thoughts operate. Now, one might make you a little hungry( your preconceived reaction to the thought of a banana) yet the other might paralyze you with fear, but as I said, the thoughts come from the same place, they start of with the same “value” which is none, they have no value, it’s your reaction to this valueless thought that starts the cycle of anxiety. Lastly, do bananas make you anxious? The answer is probably no. I promise you that the thought of a banana and the thought of anxiety coming on have the exact same initial value and come from the exact same place. Having this explained to me had a significant impact on the way that I thought about... thoughts. Their random and not yours, it’s not your fault for being tricked by them as I was for so long. Sit and comprehend this message, really think about it.

Fear of being alone, that's a big one. All my direct family have passed away-Mom, Dad, brother, sister. There is only me and my wife and we have few friends or close relatives on her side. We're both over 65 and the current pandemic has me anxious I'll lose her. I'm not afraid of dying myself, if it happens it happens. But living alone with nobody who has shared important moments in your life-that would not be worth living in my view. Every day would be an ordeal of loneliness. A scary thought.

Think about this... Perception is projection. Fear is ONLY a word! Logically and spirituality we all know this. I agree with the centiments spoken in this video. Alow any fear in, then just observe it, don't judge it as if you were an outsider or a third party onlooker. The more you observe it the less of a problem it becomes. I would also suggest seeing a good NLP practitioner who can help You to rewire your brain to a much more positive outlook. For all those reading this... You all subconsciously understand Fear is ONLY a word and yes we do all have that choice of being happy, which do You choose? Love to all 😊

There is a medication called Seroquel that you can ask your doctor about. It can reduce anxiety. Have you tried Klonopin? Also, cold water can help reduce anxiety. If you email me douglasbloch@gmail.com I will send you a handout about that. Here s an article that will help.

As an Honorable discharged Marine, 1982-1986, WE were trained to FEAR NOTHING! Well, fear of FAILING my DOT PHYSICAL to keep driving a tractor-trailer became REAL. How? Triple-digit blood pressure! 150/111. Normal BP is 120/80. Well, I failed! The EKG test on my heart is STRONG! MRI with dye, whole vein body system is clear! Therefore, NO heart problems and no chance of stroke which means my body is running well. Today! I passed my driver's physical and the subconscious ANXIETY was gone long enough to get my Blood pressure near 120/80 and passed. I also let the doctor know that I suffered from bipolar depression which was diagnosed in 1993. Breathing exercises work and letting the Doctor know in advance relieves the anxiety. I am back on the road!

On Douglas Broch "5 things NOT TO DO with Anxiety," my anxiety overrode the "don't do anything rash." Change jobs! I cleaned out my semi and turned in my keys to my rig. Than! Applied to Amazon to deliver packages which is not CDL required job. Marines call this Improvise and overcome! This rash act did not help my anxiety, but did make sure my income keeps coming in! "employment." Well, today, my stuff is back in my rig and I withdrew my application from Amazon. Today I can haul 80,000 lbs of Amazon packages instead of 10,000 lbs. (lol)

I feel that death is the root of all fears. I have constant anxiety knowing that it is inevitable that I'm going to lose everyone and die. It keeps me stuck in derealization. I have so many existential obsessions and I can't handle the thought that we just get old, fall apart, die and there is no point or afterlife. I don't know if I can get better and if so, how

They say anxiety disorder comes from "fight or flight". But once I had true fight or flight, and it was not the same as anxiety disorder. A man that my family knew took me aside and the instant I caught on that he was intending to rape me, fight or flight kicked in big time. My home was 3 miles away. I ran 🏃 there very fast. He was morbidly obese, so there was no way he could keep up with me. At one point during the run, I tripped and fell and scraped both of my forearms. I didn't even notice it until I got home and saw blood dripping from my arms. The next day, I had the same whiplash/neck pain that you get after a car accident. I was srsly going that fast. Anxiety disorder is very different. Fight or flight response requires you to act immediately. Anxiety disorder keeps you from acting at all.

    • @DouglasBloch
      @DouglasBloch  6 лет назад +2

They are similar in that the nervous system gets revved and your heart rate and respiration increase. If you feel paralyzed with anxiety, go outside and run around the block or at least walk fast. That will help to dissipate the agitating chemicals in your brain.
