I completely agree no trainer should be treated like this. My trainer works very hard to help you be the best rider possible while putting his life at risk and it’s not fair people think it’s okay to put your life in jeopardy. I hope you feel better soon.❤❤❤
I agree with you
That owner shouldve told you beforehand
Its probably had trauma
Yep. Not cold backed, was 1000% anxiety based learnt behaviour which I could have actually solved with the right information. Instead I made the problem worse for horse, owner and myself. People don’t realise we need information not because we’re trying to waste their money but because we ACTUALLY can offer solutions other than just ride the buck out.
@@amber_matthews yeah why didn't they just tell you the truth?
Or pain, could be a wobbler? Or pinched nerve, or... geez pain anywhere could do that. Such a bummer the owner is an awful person.
@@TheOldandslow yeah
I'm sorry to hear that Amber. Unfortunately, these things are common in many others. People only care about themselves, they do not even care about their horse in this case. I can assure you,Amber, that is not only the horse industry.
You are completely right, you always tell the important stuff, it is like not telling anyone about your allegergy till you die. Also, I am a maaasssddiiveee fan 😊😊 hope you are ok
If I had a problem horse like that and the owner didn't tell me. I would charge an additional $100 for every time I was bucked.
Amber I think you should ask your clients to sign something - give you grounds to sue them if they lie. This could have been so much worse! I am glad you are ok, sort of!
I feel like people genuinely believe people like Amy from heartland exist. People think horse trainers can perform miracles out of just looking the horse in the eye. People need to understand that this is not how that works. Trainers put themselves at risk when owners are not honest about their horse meaning neither them nor the horse can get the help they want or need
I hope you’re ok! The same thing happened to me I had a beautiful western horse to be worked perfect through ground work got on all of a sudden he just dropped his head bucked better than any rodeo horse I’ve seen dumped me and the owner goes oh I thought you would of got that out of him!! Umm soo this happens often thanks for the warning!!
People ask me why I gave up training, this is why. The amount of times I've almost died on horses the owners described as "gentle and easy to work with" is genuinely insane. I wasn't being paid enough to almost die on someone elses horse
for some reason I’m seeing a couple negative comments, that makes me so angry, I totally agree with you amber, every word. I recently had non horse related injury and can’t ride, you fill with me with such hope for my dreams and journey, sending love and hugs! you are the best ! ❤️
WHAT THE HELLLLLLL THATS SO INSANE!!! I can’t believe they knew that information and chose to completely disregard your safety and well being and also that of their horses. Terrible people, and totally avoidable situation , and everyone is lucky this wasn’t fatal!
Been through this growing up, my gran used to offer me up for every green horse in the area because i was small. And it was just expected back then , if you were a groom for a trainer you were expected to ride whatever was put in front of you.
Once i had kids , unless you paid for the vet and chiro to check your horse out first it was a solid no.
I have never known riding the buck out to work. Because for those that do straighten up its usually only for that rider. Put a new body on and they will just chance it agai. And if they loose that rider you are back to square one
I'm so sorry to hear this😢
I’m so glad you’re still in one piece and alive!! The mentality of people who have no savvy or horse sense is disturbing given that they own horses. Ask a lot of questions. I would say don’t trust anyone you don’t know really well.
Take care Amber and stay safe.
Reading thru the comments amber, Im so sorrry that u have been treated this way, NO ONE -least of all U should tolerate this at all, I COMPLETELY AGEE to what u are saying, dont let the hate get to u! I luv ur vids sm!❤❤❤❤KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Ur the best and sweetest equestrian ever I wish I could be like u ur my fav RUclipsr love ur vids u are my influence❤
I am sorry that happened to you Amber, as much as i LOVE horses and horse riding, i have to agree, i do have a negative impression on the industry and community, its stressful.
i’m so sorry Amber!! i saw your side on instagram and it looks horrible!! HOPE YOU GET BETTER!!❤❤❤
There needs to be some sort of penalty if not an outright lawsuit against people who would do this to someone!
I love your videos smmmmm I'm sorry that happened also ❤
Hope you are ok and feel better soon
Had similar and WHY I no longer take in others.............my body can't take others lies
Hope you have a super quick recovery
My immediate thought was back problem
You are 100% right ↪ i hope your ok❤
Should have people sign a document saying they have not yet witnessed the horse do certain things or sth. To make them liable if it turns out they withheld such information
That's awful! I hope you feel better soon💗 (And that the owner has learned their lesson)
exactly. if we knew we can help it but if we dont then we cant help it
I feel for you. I was helping my instructor with this 17 hh horse that it was her first ride on that she has been asked to ride because the owners daughter wants it to be trained so she can use it for vaulting. She got on after ages working on standing by the mounting block and he was tense and then relaxed and suddenly exploded out of nowhere galloping trying to jump out of the arena over the hills. it was very scary and she had to get off. later when we talked to his owner she just said yeah he does that. We had never been informed of this behaviour and it put us both in danger especially with his height. safe to say we aren’t working with that horse again.
My mom got her femur broken in 3 places being thrown into a rail. I'm so glad you're, relatively, OK.
I’m still recovering from the worst fall that I’ve ever had
Jesus! That is so painful i am so sorry that happened. I have to wonder if the owner got a Vet in to check the horse for pain issues.
Stay strong miss 💪 🤠
get well soon
Thank goodness you were not seriously hurt ! Some people.... well I have nothing nice to say. Stay safe!
What an awful thing to do 😧 what if one of the trainers had been even more seriously injured as a result? Baffled that the owner would be so negligent and dishonest.
Omg that is terrible. I have a Tory tiny bit similar to this while trying out my first horse (it was the first one I tried) but it was no way near as bad
I was trying out this horse and I started walking with her unexpectedly she started trotting so I went with her bcs I thought if I sat she would canter bcs she was going rlly fast. I tried to steady her but she cantered so I stood out the saddle trying to steady here and then she galloped around the arena twice until I fell off her. The owner had said she was safe but since no one was trying her out after me the owner confessed and said she can be a bit foward on her advertisement
Oh no!! I’m so sorry they did that to you. No trainer should be lied to like that.
I would be willing to train my own horse, not somebody else’s. I probably wouldn’t find myself starting any foals but I’m fine with training a horse I’ve gotten from a reliable person who I’ve either seen ride that particular horse (many times) or I’ve known/ridden personally. It’s really hard to trust some trainers and horse sellers these days.
If it was "for the last year", I feel like there might be something wrong psysically
Hi! I love your videos! I was wondering if you could make a video about why horseback riding is a sport? I am constantly told that it is not, but I ride 4 times a week, and I know the work that goes it to it! Do you have any advice on what to say when someone asks you that?
I am so sorry you were hurt, and shame on the owner for doing this to you!
Girl I’m so sorry people suck I’m glad you weren’t hurt worse. Thank you for being here.
Girl, I have been in that same exact position years ago when I was a full-time trainer I was not told that the horse was a bucker and that’s why no one had been riding it but it was supposedly had champion raining horse bloodlines, and I showed in the hunter and 3 foot equation so I do not know about raining horses or their bloodlines I managed to stay on for like five or six consecutive bucks until I got thrown into the wall mirrors because I was in a big indoor that had mirrors so you can watch yourself ride Got flipped upside down broke two panes of the mirror and part of the wood fence. Thank God I was wearing my helmet.
Oh yeah and the justification for not telling me and for why the owner specifically asked for me to exercise the horse was because the owner was a very big huge heavyweight man and I was a at the time anyway a small, 110 pound experienced rider and trainer so the owner thought that because I was smaller maybe it wouldn’t bother the horses back and he wouldn’t buck like are you kidding me? I was like there’s so many things you can do you could’ve gotten the horse a chiropractor you could’ve gotten him maybe his saddle wasn’t fitting properly, and at the time I was also training to become a saddle fitter if they would’ve told me the truth in the beginning so many other things could be done to help the horse. Maybe the horse needs an adjustment or a realignment acupuncture maybe he needed to be retrained there’s so many things That could be done before trying to put another rider on a horse that bucks anyway I feel for you and I wish you a speedy recovery. Sending you lots of love and healing energy.❤❤
You were talking to the camera like that so it felt like you were talking at me so I felt guilty even though I will probably never ride a horse again
I never trust anyone's integrity if they are sending an already started horse for training, they have usually always messed the horse up.
A great way to stay safer when training other peoples horses for other trainers to consider:
Always force the owners to work with the horse for an hour in front of you before getting on so you can assess yourself, from the ground to riding. If they refuse to do that but insist you just get on and start riding, especially when they refuse to get on, then assume the horse is rank and treat them as unstarted, start from literally 0, with basic haltering, ground skills, tying, etc. don't move on unless every basic skill is solid and the horse is calm. ignore everything the owners say if they get pissy with you for not riding the horse for several weeks to some months, because they always lie and downplay the problems (or at best, are just stupid and don't understand the severity of the problems and how to fix them) unless they're actually up front with serious behavior issues and want to give you as much info as possible to help fix some trauma they know about.
That was an absolute dick move on the part of the owner!!! She would be out so fast for being ignorant. Done.
Do you ask if they’ve been health checked, crated for spine pain issues? I’m sure you do but just curious
Amen!!!
I hate that this happened to you. People seem to forget that a trainer’s LIVING INCOME largely is reliant on his/her ability to ride horses in training. If your trainer gets broken bc you haven’t warned him/her of your horse’s potential for dangerous behavior, you have personally caused your trainer a significant loss in his/her income stream, especially if it’s a severe injury which requires time in hospital and/or a long recovery period during which he/she is unable to ride and therefore unable to make money to LIVE off!!! Some people are SO selfish!!
My 17.2h young Irish WB was acting up the other day while I was riding in a lesson. He started rearing, which is the scariest thing a horse can do (bc of the potential for the horse to tip over on to the rider, for those unfamiliar with horse behaviors). My trainer advised me to dismount, then SHE was going to get in my horse! She had her helmet with her in the arena, but not her air vest or a body protector. I flat out told her she could not get on my horse when he was behaving like that bc I didn’t want her to get injured bc of my young horse being an idiot, and end up with an injury which could prevent her from riding. I flat out told her NOT to get on my horse to try to work through whatever his issue was bc I was worried for her safety. She and I happen to have a very good working relationship, so she understood that my refusing to let her get on the horse (who is only a horse I leased for a year, and the year is almost up, so SO not worth chancing injury to try to fix the horse’s behavior) was purely out of concern, not out of any doubt that she could ride the horse. I DO care what happens to my trainer!
Are you able to sue in situations like this? Because they purposely misled you and risked your life?
Very nice
Ohhhh Amber I’m sorry. Oof. 😮
I feel soooo bad for you are you okay?
How reckless and irresponsible of the owner
I know nothing about horses, but I do know you tell a trainer EVERYTHING about the animal they will be working with for their safety and the animal’s safety. This shouldn’t have happened because it sounds like you asked for a history of the horse and the owner failed to mention the extent of the bucking.
I hope you recover quickly!
That horse owner should not even own a horse like that if they are that "novice" or "any" horse owner who lacks "Horse Sense" if youre cant handle your horse you need a steady"push button" or "bomb proof" horse. Dont try to be Hercules or Atlas when comes to ANY horse. Horses are powerful creatures, they can go from calm 0 to 45mph from a state of standing sleep in a half a second, if under threat, even" push button" horses will if nessesary. If you buy a horse, thats great but do your homework before you do so or you put your trainer, yourself, others around you, and you can actually ruin your horse by not doing so to the extent the shattered creature that is your horse winds up in a kill pen because he so damaged he trusts noone, i would allege but not sure because of sight unseen, this is the problem with this horse, then again, Amber, these jackasses put you on that horse to see what you are made of, test you in stupid dangerous fashion to what end? by not telling the truth? Unexeptable!
- if thats it, they should be held liable, I really hope youre going to be ok, as well as others could get hurt, you wont be the first one, Ok im done rambling. All the best of Love and Luck to you, Amber
❤❤
Better the owners are honest, I bet they haven't spent any money on a vet first! If you're going to go cheap, then DON'T BUY A HORSE! You just make a very unhappy and possibly in pain horse who ends being put down through no fault of their own......
Wow I’m so sorry that happened to you. That horse clearly has issues and maybe shouldn’t be ridden
🥰
Trainers disprove so much better my trainer broke there arm because one of the borders asked her to jump there horse and the horse did not jump it bucked her when the got to the fence
Been there,
Horsey therapist
And I thought my broken back was bad Not as bad as what this is you been beaten down by a horse .
Find out if the horse is in pain.
Wow it's hard to believe that someone would do that! I mean, you could have died!! For FS!
Do u know any Fahad because of yours hands looks same like my family people's shape that mean ,,,,
OK do you want to lollipop? What do you want us to do about it?
yeah why do some horse owners have too much pride....fess up
Not a crash dummy! Well at least not any more?
1st!!!
It??
I thought you were a pro.
I am? I’m also human and I am a horse TRAINER - not a rodeo rider. I am happy to WORK with a horse with behavioural issues and retrain their behaviour patterns and SOLVE the problem but I will not just get on and ride the buck. It doesn’t help the owner, horse or me - it’s ego riding at its finest and and a bandaid solution at the absolute best.
@@amber_matthewsYes, this!!! You want the issue or fear solved, not just to ride the horse til they are exhausted! That is why we are taking our rescue horse so slowly. We want to heal her fears, not solidify or make new ones.
@@karensprings4237 love this!
You complain about common sense lacking in people yet you got on a horse without working him over first and then complained for getting hurt. Has the meaning of 'trainer' changed it's meaning these days?....
Did u not watch the part 1 video?? She did work over the horse. But that doesn’t change the fact the owner lied…
Did not watch part one. I also understand that dishonest owners have ruined the industry; but if you've been in it long enough you treat every horse like the owner isn't telling you everything.
Also paying attention to a horse's body language will tell you more than the owner. Many times I've seen bad mannered horses that only have bad manners because they've been spoiled.
I've rode horses for people who couldn't get their horse to do anything and it came down to the person constantly taking no for an answer.
Before you assume I'm a "tie them down and beat them" kind of person, I don't even own spurs or a whip. Horsemanship starts with the person, not the horse.
@@Ksuyeya I didn’t say anything about you being a bad trainer or person. I actually said nothing of the sort. Go watch the first part, she is an experienced rider and worked over the horse did ground work and evaluated the horse. I have also had a similar experience, not nearly as bad. Some horses are good at hiding things.
You definitely didn’t watch part 1.
I know you didn't. I was just nipping that one in the bud first. I went back and watched part one. In theory, it's a fluke shit storm and they do happen, but it also sounds like she was in routine mode and probably missed subtle markers that a horse who's had all wins show.
All in all, the girl is lucky to be alive, the horse owner is a shit stick and the horse is probably not worth anyone's time of day. People need to get off the green ideology that all horses are worth it. They're not; and getting people like this girl hurt because of stupid ideologies is what is sinking the horse world.
I hope you are better soon. Being thrown sucks. 🫶🏻
But people not being upfront is horrible for horse and trainer.
