I have been to Kerala twice in 5 years. Absolutely stunning. Go during the start of monsoon and do a boat ride in Alleppy back water. It's a Surreal feeling.

I went to Aleppy because this video was my inspiration. In my homestay ( Mathews)I booked the same type of tour and it was the most beautiful sight of all my 5 journeys through India. I watch this video over and over again and I cant believe that I really was there . I think I have to come back as soon as possible .......

This was amazing, most of us spend 10 to 15 times more in luxury boats through back waters but as usual you were more grounded with nature & had local feel, with minimum possible expenses. As usual it was romantic, adventurous expedition. This AV was almost like a PRO film maker, can't resist myself from saying "Great AV Yootina"
I think that some people are not even aware that there are other options than just renting a house boat in the backwaters... Thank you so much, that is a huge compliment considering the video was shot with a phone :P

I am from Kerala but further north. Yes Kumarakom is the most scenic place in Kerala. Let me also tell you something else, historywise. Kerala was the original destination of Columbus. Kerala kickstarted the whole era of geo explorations and I am the only person who realizes it. da Gama landed about 25 km from my town.

Also if someone stare u don't be afraid it's common here in India. People stare alot here it's not because they have any bad intentions or anything but they are curious because they don't see tourist everyday. And foreigners look really different in comparison to indians. It's same like if i will go to a remote village people will stare me alot. Just pass a smile and i bet they will definitely do the same and everything will be alright good luck. Enjoy in India. Take care. And awesome video !
I am a keralite, but never been to backwaters as though my mom’s Family are from Allapuzha and dad from Thrissur. But lived outside kerala most of my life in Tamil Nadu / Bidar / Gwalior and the USA.
