Dude you leave all the info, espically the music on these reviews. These vids are so awesome I fucking love them! Amazing! Bravo!
Oliver Harper I love just the shear amount of info you give, definitely a step above the standard review. This and Split second were sone of fave non traditional cop films. I dig how you help to promote the purchasing of films and sountracks as well.
Thanks for this review. This is one of my favorite Dolph Lindgren films. Up there with another Dolph action classic "Red Scorpion".

any of various other cutting implements or machines having two blades that resemble or suggest those of scissors.
the act or process of shearing or being sheared.
Umm no. First, because I've been boycotting Sony since they invented SecuROM, and second because I'm not paying 15 dollars for a 30 year old movie. I saw it in the theater, with 2 big boxes of Milk Duds for less.
I do miss the stylish look of even the lowest of budgeted 80's movies. Now a days a lot of films look quite flat and uninspired in their photography.
I think a lot of it is down to the colour saturation, very warm, bright & colourful, many directors opt for the opposite of late, de-saturation or a green/ blue/ grey slant, in an effort to make it moody or scary, when as you say it just ends up looking flat & boring ;-).
Agreed
@@thebadtemperedbrit and longer takes. Modern films apart from the likes of Ki Duk or PTA, there isnt much screen time for a character to flow, its edited to where an intense monologue will have 10 cuts.
I think a lot of it has to do with shooting on real film....look at a movie like Terminator 2...it STILL looks sooo good like a lot of movies from the 90s
It is film. Film is special. Personally, I believe film should really come back, and occupy a space alongside digital as simply another way to do things.
Why does everything need to be so very high res and digital? It just looks...bad.
Underrated flick. Great soundtrack, great cast, great concept, well executed.
I first saw this movie as a kid in 1991 on the cable channel Cinemax. They did a Friday night double feature with this and The Punisher. My friends and I all tuned in to see The Punisher because we were big comic book fans, but it was this movie that I fell in love with. I rented it several times (often with Split Second) in the 90s. Even today I'll watch this along with Split Second on DVD.
Oh thank God, I'm not the only person who loves Split Second also.
I liked Split Second, but the ending was shitty. All that buildup to...nothing.
Logan Cracraft yeeeeeaaah! So gkad to find another fan of Split Second. I don't think Rutger and Dolph ever quite got the amount of attention I felt they deserved. Now I have ti see if Oliver did a retrospective on Blood of Heroes/Jugger.
I like this movie way better than the Punisher but if you play them back to back they would be like parts 1 and 2
I have never heard of Split Second, I should probably check that out. if you like this movie a great companion piece to it is The Hidden.
I Comment in Peace!
Fuck you, spaceman! =P
And you going pieces asshole.
4 years later and still going 👌

So said the bLM
I am the guy who appears in the first scene here at the 12 second mark of this clip. Thanks for putting my scene in this clip, loved working on this movie!
@Joe McKenzie www.imdb.com/name/nm0455638/
This was an awesome movie. I'm trying to get one of my friends to check it out. We both loved The Hidden and I think this is a great companion piece to that movie.
I'd have given my right arm to be in a film like this :D
that is so cool!
How did you get involved with "I Come In Peace Chris? Did you get to hangout with Dolph onset??
This is such a guilty pleasure of mine since i was a kid. I mention this to people and they have no idea what im talking about lol. Your channel is just dope bro!!
I destroyed a lot of CDs while tossing them because of this movie.
LOL, everyone did it :D
Pfft...I wouldn’t own a CD for another seven years by the time this movie was made. I could only chuck cassettes :(
Me too!!!!
If you want more Dolph and add some Brandon Lee don't miss "Showdown in Little Tokyo".
setgeeks yes pretty underrated
setgeeks one of my favs
" YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO
REMAIN DEAD "
Ah yes.. Who can forget Brandon Lee's line to Dolph: "In case we get killed, I just wanted to tell you.. You have the biggest dick I've seen on a man"
That movie is good it's underrated
One of my favorites. My stepdad brought it home one day from the video store. It was a lot of fun.
I love Dolph. My fav action actor. Me and my dad love this movie. My dad had it on VHS and I've loved since I was a kid. My dad had a ton of cheesy, 80s and 90s action films.
I saw this on home video back in the day. It was often lumped in with other low-budget action films of that era such as King of the Kickboxers, Red Scorpion, The Punisher (1989), Crash and Burn and others. The crowd I hung out with often watched three of these films in one sitting. "I Come In Peace", despite its odd title, stood out amongst the others for its originality. It's actually a hidden gem just waiting to be rediscovered. If ever there should be a cult action classic, this was it.
I first saw this film as a young kid (7 years old, dad was watching it on TV) and I was mesmerized by it. Now that I'm older, I can say it hasn't lost its charm and is among the highest grade Hollywood Cheese that I've seen.
I enjoyed the movie when I was a kid.. that alien Gun the sound it made wile firing lt was awesome ..
The gun is real.
It's a Calico M950.
I can't believe how excited I was to just discover you did a retrospective on this masterpiece.
This movie was DOPE. Frickin' alien guns were BADDASS.
Reminds me of Gantz
The gun is a Calico M950
I laughed my ass off when I saw this in the recommended videos because I was on cable a few days ago. I remember seeing it back in the 90's and still love it and see to Dolph in it was funny as hell.
The only reason to watch this, is to hear the line "I come in peace" YOU GO IN PIECES!!!
(in dolph Lungren speak ,of course!)
Chances are high this entire movie was named, written, and scripted with that single catchy phrase in mind.
It was called dark angel in Sweden. I saw it when I was way to young. And I thought it was awesome.
"Brian Benben" What a name!
how is it possible that I've never seen this movie. I've pretty much did see everything back then in Switzerland.
This Review gave me a Syndicate ( Bullfrog) vibe :)
Man I LOOOVE Syndicate!
My uncle always watched these strange movies and I was hooked.
Another late 80's/early 90's gem. Thx Oliver!
Another underrated Dolph Lundgren flick. Other one's are Joshua Tree (Army of one) and Showdown in little Tokyo all great movies and of course great review :D.
Joshua Tree and Hard Target would make a great double feature Showdown in Little Tokyo is my shit!
Don't forget Silent Trigger and Men of War.
@@snakeplissken8581 Men of War was semi-legit
@@joeyservo It was pretty descent in my opinion. I own it too. Great mercenary action flick. With a very disturbing main antagonist.
Enjoyed this picture when it was fresh out: Dark Angel. Generally well made and entertaining and way above the average for a B movie.
I saw this in the cinema as a kid ("Dark Angel" here). Great fun, it was cool to see Ivan Drago and Martin Tupper on screen together :)
This movie is probably the first one I ever saw.
I have subtle memories of it playing on the TV when I was 3.
I vividly remember the disk, alien blood scene and also the mechanic girl for some reason.
I totally forgot this existed... Haven't even ran across my mind in 30 years... But soon as I read the title I instantly remembered it.
HA! I remember I was in grade 7 when this came out. I wanted to see it so badly and my mother was concerned that the violence was too much. LOL. My friend and I eventually did go and it was not nearly as cool as I thought it would be but I appreciated the CD routine at the beginning and I remember thinking "Oh, the alien is going to take the CD and use it". It's a cute et up. Nice one, Oliver!
Saw this in theatre. My mom was awesome.
I absolutely love your retrospectives! Really in-depth and interesting, and nicely edited!
i was so happy when I checked my subbed channels and saw the number 1 next to your name! when I was a kid in the late 80s and early 90s, my Dad was on disability so we used to rent 2-3 movies a day! alot of times my dad would fall for the box art and we'd watch a stinker. not this though, this was one of my dad's all-time favorite films and you did it great justice Ollie as always! cheers mate and I look forward to another of your awesome reviews
I watched this movie right after it released on video absolutely loved it. Really miss these types of movies, they have their own charm about them. This movie is way better than anything on Netflix.
Totally true.
Just like you, Oliver, I was also a Van Damme guy growing up scouting the VHS aisles at the local rental place. This is one I missed so now I need to see it too! Great review!
I did mention No Retreat No Surrender in my Bloodsport review.
shit this movie's like an 1980's movie instead of 1990's film. also thanks for reviewing dark angel ( aka I come in piece).
love this film one of my childhood favourites
Thanks Oliver for doing this on a movie I have loved for literally a quarter of a century. Ah, the late 80s, early 90s, all cool, no irony, maybe a bit cheesy, but always a fun time. Movies like this, Split Second, Stallone's Demolition Man, Oliver Gruner's film Nemesis(which you should look into), all fun, and all wonderfully R-rated.
I really love your Retrospective Reviews always excited to see a new one on your channel, keep up the good work!!!
I got to say, the trailers you make at the beginning of each review are just incredible. I went back to watch Conan, Alien 3 and Army of Darkness thanks to them. Please continue to make these kick ass videos, I try to get all my movie buff friends to check em out and its just a lot of fun
level12fighter he really does an amazing job of editing together keys scenes for maximun noataligic hype. I have to fight the urge to watch the films after the review. I hope he sees your comment and knows how much his effort is appreciated.
There's nothing really that special about it's just a summary of key plot points in sequential order that's it
Caine said ;Smith beware when you get the "Break a few eggs" speech
Is the line i remember
Hidden gem of a film, watched it too much on VHS back in the day. Great retrospective as usual.
My cousin and I got this VHS rental, we really enjoyed the story, the action, the humor, and that terrifying gun!!!
That yellow Porsche at 10.59 is amazing! Most 80's looking car ever..
I've seen this movie so many times when I was a kid in the early 90s , totally love it
I'm loving your reviews/retrospectives! Keep up the good work!
I subbed to you as soon as I finished your review for this move. First shocked someone would review this movie anyway, but it's your style, the information and passion in your videos that I like most about your work!!
Nice to see Michael J Pollard getting a mention, he was in one of my favorite films Hannibal Brooks with Oliver Reed
I love the style of your reviews! Always look forward to them! You've got a fan in Dallas!
Always fun to listen to your reviews Oliver! Cheers!
This and Split Second make for a nice double feature
Yup!
But I would say I Come in Peace and The Peacemaker would be a better double-bill.
after writing that I realized "wait- both films are similar in a lot of ways so it might seem like you're just watching the same two films back to back.
Because both films have....bigger guns....big big FUCKING GUNS!
Cyril I think I remember my folks renting both films from the local video store when the my dropped on home video. Great double feature for sure.
You could add Alien Nation and The Hidden into the mix. Similar feel.
Man this movie is one my favorite Sci-Fi flick back in the days wow it's been long that I haven't seen it, I would love to see again.
Just saw this yesterday.
Wish I saw your review first to prepare myself for what I watched. Loved every second of it :)
Another great video sir. Thank you for putting these out, love your analysis of these movies. 👍
This movie has some fantastic vintage street scenes from downtown Houston, TX. The city has changed immensely since then. Having lived there for 15 years, starting the year this movie was filmed there, watching it is like revisiting fond old memories of a city that was stuck somewhere between an unkept past and an unrealized future. Houston was somewhat of a popular filming location, what with Reality Bites and Robocop that came out about that same time.
Oliver Harper, you have to do the Rowdy Roddy Piper movie "They Live" as a retrospective/review. that would be great movie to do on on. if you already done it, then I just hadn't seen it yet. :-P
well you're in luck im reviewing it next week!
Dark Angle is the movie name in denmark.
Great Review :-) I love this movie. I saw the movie around 1990/1991.
Love your work Oliver!
This video made me watch this movie, so thank you for covering it, I had never even heard of it before now. The only review I can give it is FUCK YES THIS MOVIE IS RAD. Definitely one of my all time favorites now, loved every second of it.
My thoughts exactly, Oliver! I'm 37 and, as well, didn't see this until last year when I purchased the Blu-ray from Shout! Factory. This movie was a total hoot, and a highly underrated addition to the genre. Thanks for the interesting video, mate.
I LOVED this movie when I was a kid!
Wahahahahaa! I remember this film. God, Matthias Hues was so cool! (I plugged his name here from memory BECAUSE of this film!)
Awesome video, Oliver. Keep up the great work!
One of my favorite movies as a kid, I felt bad when you said you didn't get to see it in your youth lol.. Thanx for reminding me about this movie as I haven't seen it in quite a few years. You are one of the best movies reviewers on RUclips in my opinion.. Great job as always Bro :)
I remember seeing this in the theater and I had a damn good time.
Fantastic. Always great and insightful reviews.
What in the name of Lucifer's pink spangled panties is THIS?!?! How have I never heard of this?
As a lil kid a watched this over n over again. Yes I grew up on movies like this!!
I still remember the trailer. The Alien creepily said I come in piece! Dolph Lundgren aimed a gun I think and said and you'll leave in pieces! I still remember that.
Saw this as a kid, once, ot was amazing. Don't know how well it's ages, but as a young one I found it most exciting.
that explosion at 20:55 looks really good!
Excellent review, as per usual. Too bad you didn't get to experience this gem in theater, as I did as a teen. Guess I was lucky to have a dad who grew up on the sci-fi B movies of the 50s & 60s--he took me to see many of the films in your retrospectives. Thanks for the nostalgia trip...
Your movie reviews are detailed!!! Spot On! Love This Channel!
Thanks Marcos!
I remember this movie - classic 90's action flick and worth watching because of Lundgren..
Can’t get enough of your reviews!!
Thanks for your feedback, Robert!
This youtube channel is just too good lol. All the movies I love, reviewed in one places lol. I love this movie. Sadly, many dont remember it
Never heard of this. Well done again!
Great review Oliver Harper...love your work. Keep it up!
I remember seeing commercials for this film as a kid watching tv in the 80's.... I thought at the time "wow, that looks really cool...." Funny how you see everything differently when you get older.
As a Houstonian and a movie buff, I am ashamed that it took me 30 years to discover this movie lol, amazing.
I love these retrospectives damn!!
Fun fact: the 'alien guns' used in this movie were Calico M950/Liberty III 9mm automatic handguns with 50 round helical feed drums, with the little light up switches on the side. These guns are readily available and are awesome for coming in peace.
It is years since I've seen it (probably 20 years or more) but I remember a tech-thriller called 'Runaway' with Tom Selleck from 1984. The flying CD in the film 'I come in Peace' reminded me of a similar bit of tech used in 'Runaway'. I can't say how good the film is - I'd have to watch it again - it only gets 47% on rotten tomatoes. It was written and directed by Michael Chrichton though (13th Warrior, Andromeda Strain and Westworld) and Tom Selleck is apparently proud of the film and dissapointed by it's lack of success. I remember the world they created just seemed so believable - with a plot set in the future with things constantly getting glitches. I remember the trailer for the film caught my imagination at the time... it was probably on a par with films such as 'Blue Thunder' though in reality rather than Clint Eastwoods 'Fire Fox' (is that a good film? - LOL, I dunno ha ha ha ha!!!).
I remember this was on the trailers to the video release of Best of the Best( Brilliant Movie!) and thought it looked so cool. I remember seeing it - and Lethal Weapon 2 on the same night- And what a glorious night that was! This was and still is brilliant- Ive got the best memories of watching this from the time, and Im delighted to see it here in the prestigious company of yer reviews!
Its a great movie of its kind and era- got a lot of us talking about it in the classrooms at the time, alongside the Van Damme, Arnie movies of the time.
As ya said, theres great action, and character play- terrific action buddy cop sci-fi, and a briliant soundtrack- thats very like the New Retro Wave scene doing the great business on youtube.
Surprised that this one slipped past ya at the time-but Im glad ya reviewed and liked it. Loved seeing this-thanks.
Also- did you watch "Dream On"? That was a great, cleaver , and very under rated show.
Again, I saw this on theaters in San Francisco and enjoyed it tremendously.
Has anybody ever heard of this Dolph Lundgren movie that never got made called Le Tigre? It was gonna be directed by Andrzej Żuławski, a Polish arthouse director most know for his relationship horror drama Possession, and produced by Cannon Films. It would've been set in Vietnam during the first Indochina war, where three POWs escape the last battle and run to a village who convince the POWs to hunt a tiger that's been terrorizing them. It sounds really nuts. Too bad it never happened. It's a bizarre yet intriguing combination of talents and it could've potentially given Lundgren a starring role as iconic as the ones Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Willis got.
my god, I loved this movie as a kid and totally forgot about it. Thanks for the nostalgic reminder!!
Lundgren has actually worked a lot. His IMDB page lists 94 actor credits. Most of them happened after 2000, though.
I remember watching this film as a VHS rental. The "CD" looking disk weapon not only fascinated me, it also scared the crap out of me when I saw it in the film. I do remember enjoying the movie overall and introduced me to Dolph Lundgren as an actor.
yea, great film. i still got it on VHS. this is a great channel man. everything is awesome. keep up the great works.
Thank you, I've been trying to find this one for years.
This movie kind of reminds me of The Hidden (1987). It was another buddy cop film with an alien twist that had one hell of an opening car chase scene.
I love your videos. You seem to pick a lot of cult films I love and grew up with. I'd love for you to do one on Lundgren's Punisher film and The First Power
I remember always seeing this movie on the video shelf and looking at it confusingly. Then my friends and I would all start saying, "I come in peace!!" over and over in our best Ivan Drago impressions.
Hi Oliver, great review as per usual, interesting to know that Dolph's love interest Diane, actress Betsy Brantley, was also Mrs Steven Soderberg at the time and was the performance model of Jessica Rabbit playing opposite Bob Hoskins.
Had a bootleg VHS of this as a kid. Loved it.
This was a movie i vividly remember.
I loved it.
Lundgren had a lot of movies out on VHS/and DVD back in the day (at Blockbuster video; in the USA). His movies had a good Plot and a lot of dialogue. His movies were interesting to watch. Lundgren also came out on Arrow (with Stephen Amell) which aired on The CW. USA. 2022.
Ah the 80s to early 90s...such a magical age of cinema. So much atmosphere, and just balls to do something different and wild. Even the bargain bin movies of this era are more entertaining than cinema these days.
I hope Mr. Harper reads this. I love how you treat movies with respect. Even movies that aren't great. Making movies is a lot of hard work and yes they're not all Citizen Kane, but nobody tries to make a bad movie. Movie reviewers today make me so angry with their almost abusive tone toward the whole movie industry. It feels like the base qualification for a reviewer today is "must hate all movies older than 15 years and most movies newer than that." If they cant find some good in even bad movies, why did they become reviewers?
Great job with reviewing an awesome action film Oliver! Can't wait to see what other low budget gems from 80's and 90's you'll review in future. Btw, since recently it had 30th anniversary, did you ever thought about doing a review/retrospective of Stallone's Cobra?
You missed out! Dark Angel was pretty good back in the early 90’s
Great review as always thank you
