I for one would really enjoy some videos about books if thats what you choose to do. I've always enjoyed your recap videos, but as you say if its something you're not enjoying no point in continuing for the sake of it. Look forward to whatever you choose to move to next :) All the best
Hiya Steven I really enjoyed your video so much I subscribed as I found your honesty and easy going manner a delight, shame about all that messing about with that parcel, I wonder sometimes what do they do with our stuff once it is posted? And the Xmas rush will see an influx of temps being hired who have no interest in the job, just a Xmas job and they won’t have much due care and consideration for our items, hope you have a great weekend and manage to declutter a bit more all the best from Scotland 🏴
Nice video. i have been a private seller for a number of years and have found ebay to be inconsistent with arbitrary decisions. you ring up about a problem nobody can make decision. Like i have been on the verge a few times with regard to staying a member . ( just subscribed)
It's certainly hit and miss. Much easier if you can get someone local to you - I have found the Irish operatives to be quite good, my understanding is that they are around on Sundays (that's when I have spoken to them, anyway)
Did hit the like button but didn"t move the number, probably the best time to do ebay now as its free for private sellers, anyway hope to see you next week and if not will wait to see what else you put up.
@@BareBonesofit I don't think the like button count shows up right away. I'm a bit dubious about the free selling. I think private sales are being suppressed. It's certainly controversial with business sellers and I can see why.
Hi Steven, I resell on Ebay have been for a few years now, its my main income at the moment. Its a bit slow for everyone with the changes that Ebay have just made & the current climate but I'm not giving up, in fact I've just upgraded to a basic shop for £19.99 a month. I usually sell 10 items a week, sometimes a bit more. Hopefully, with Christmas on the way it will pick up (new sub 😁)
Hi - thanks for subscribing. I'm sticking with it until at least Christmas, and then we'll see. It's not in any way a main income for me, I'm lucky enough to have a pension and savings! Things are tough at the moment, and I can understand people not having money spare for my sort of items.
If it's too stressful for you Steven I completely understand why you would give up eBay. You should enjoy your hobby not be stessed about it. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do.
Thanks, Rob. I was having a bad week! Mostly it's ok, but when I started out it was always my intention to stop in the year before I reach state pension age. It's addictive, though, and I still have hundreds of books to sell so I will be considering my options over the next few months - probably, I will sell the occasional item but not bother so much with low value items where the postage costs more than what is left for me.
Hi, just subscribed so not watched your other videos yet. I have sold quite a few items on Facebook Marketplace, & Freecycle for other things to give away if you're decluttering. Have you heard of Swedish death cleaning? Granted not the best of names, still, I've been doing that, even before I heard of the Swedish version 🤣
Looking forward to seeing more. I have a ton of items to declutter. Ebay is pretty dead at the moment and at least 20% of people cancel bids or don't pay. Frustrating.
Aw, I've only recently found you, and already you are a 'go-to-watch' familiar face for the UK reselling community.😊 I'm just at the beginning of trying to become a reseller, and already feel Ebay is almost not worth it. I used to be a doll collector and it is still a good platform for that, but things like books are so much more fun and quick to sell on Vinted if you don't mind the low prices for popular fiction. I had a lot of of esoteric books like astrology, and those to my surprise were sometimes selling within the same day of listing, and for a fair price. Hope to still see you around RUclips, like others have said, maybe book reviews if you enjoy it or any other hobby?
The thing that stopped me selling on eBay, years ago, was the hassle of sending stuff through the post. I once auctioned a slide projector, and got £13 for it. I couldn't be arsed to pack it up and send it, so I told the buyer, I'd broken it. I got negative feedback, but I never bothered again.
Awww...I will miss your videos! Understandable though. What if you made videos about your favorite books, or other special interests you have? Or maybe 'out and about' videos if you go somewhere interesting, or live in a particularly interesting locale. I wish you lots of luck!!
@@stevenptew Thanks for letting me know. Yes I thought it might be RUclips. It's also possible that the comment by the original poster deleted their own comment, then yours & my comment automatically gets deleted along with it. They mentioned Vinted, so I just added a comment similar to this "I've just finished with Vinted. Was going well, I sold three items (clothes being the most popular on there, although prices mostly low for sellers). Then when I hit £30 worth of sales, Vinted wanted some photo ID from me! I'm not doing that. They also said if I didn't give over the photo ID they wouldn't release my last bit of balance. I've added my other bank account details to try & withdraw the funds, it hasn't triggered it again, so hopefully I'll get it back. I'll then close my Vinted account." I just wanted to give people a heads up in case they were thinking of trying Vinted.
@@LookingForLloyd I don't remember seeing that. I was half tempted to try Vinted but that looks to be too much trouble. I went through enough getting authenticated by PayPal.
@@stevenptew That's strange. Yes, used to be a lot easier that's for sure. I used to be on Ebay using Paypal but when Ebay wanted my phone number that was my line in the sand. I'm stuck now with finding any other selling sites for posting out. Depop didn't seem much use either. Ebay have the monopoly that's for sure.
Not right away, that's for sure. It was always my plan to give up when I reach the age of 65 but the last couple of weeks has got me thinking, that's all. Sorry it comes across as clickbait, I don't usually do that!
I tried selling on ebay but very little profit in the end all the time packing and walking to the post office wasn't worth it plus cheeky buyers I once listed a rare 2 pound coin and a cheeky buyer offered me 2 pounds including postage!!!!
I am moving more onto Toy fares. They are far more fun and interactive and there are no purchase issues and are well supported by the vintage toy hunting community. Ebay is dying in some respects due to increasing policy changes, involvement with the government and taxes and the always present threat of scammers. Peer to peer trading has been and will always be the safer option
