i've had problems with this freezing lately...turns out it was the livetv app causing it.disabled that and fixed the whole thing.i dont use the livetv app anyway..pretty solid androidtv box

I have the Mi Box S for almost 2 years I like in you left some things out you can extend a gigabyte with a 64 gigabyte flash drive and you can hear what the another remote to give you more features one thing about the third-party remote is you will have a mouse to help you navigate some apps Google assistant and volume control and one more thing you can add adapter to hook it up to your mode and if you set it up correctly mini Nvidia Shield .

It recently upgraded from Android 8.1 to Android 9.0 & lost a lot of features the main one being a functioning Google Chromecast Ultra that came pre-installed. Support on the phone & by email is dismal at best.

A major problem with Mi Box S is that you can not shut it off. This is a major concern for those who connect an External Hard Drive to view movies since the HD continues to spin as the Mi Box is always on and supplying power. Earlier versions could in fact Shut Off, but the 'S' model does not.
You can consider getting the Mi BoX S since it has a built in Chrome cast. Xiaomi also has just announced a new tv stick just today Mi TV Stick is a portable streaming device that turns your TV into a smart TV. Mi TVStick comes with a Chromecast built-in. With a Bluetooth remote controller.

Chrome browser on Mi Box s has no back button which is a real big nuisance. Firefox or Opera have back buttons and work much better. I have all three browsers on mine. Use your desktop or PC search for the apk you want, download them and move them to a flash drive. Plug the flash in to your Mi Box and install them through whatever file manager you use. Super easy.
Does it log onto windows networks so I can watch my own library. Having trouble with many of these boxes not capable of networking very well. Cant handle SMB properly I suspect.

Yes, you can use it with bt headphones. You can't conect standart antena chanels but you can use live tv chanel streaming via IPTV over internet 😉

? you can shut it off easily, with shut down button on remote. And you can use cheap SSD these days, they are faster and use much less energy.

The apps that will work are on its playstore. Not all Apps on the internet are compatible.
