AWSOME !!! WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED TO COMB THE BEACH ON PADRE ISLAND , ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON METAL DETECTING DOWN THERE. FARM BOY JIM ,ILLINOIS THANKS !!!
Got a couple videos on where you can detect on North Padre but, to sum it up.... From the Port Aransas ship channel south to the National Seashore you're good with the exception of Mustang Island State Park, roughly 17 miles of beach you can hunt. You'll need a Beach Sticker to drive on the beach...$12 from any gas station on the Island or buy one from the local patrol. Lemme know if ya need more info.
I'm glad you found a that silver ring. I also dug a ton of fishing weights last time I was there. Hoping to come down in Feb, for the negative tides. HH
Got yourself the Manticore, cool! Will be interesting to see what ya find with it ! Congrats on the silver Ring! My video with you in it will Premiere this Sunday night at 7 our time. Have a great weekend!
Congrats on finding that silver ring and all those other goodies. SUGGESTION: You find lots of fishing weights. Instead of giving away all those many fishing weights you find. Save them up to fill a USPS medium flat rate box and put them up for auction on eBay. That should get you some gas money. I hope that works out for you. GL&HH.
Nice silver ring. Yeah, it’s dimes galore over there, but as your ring showed, you have to dig them targets, even though we get tired of digging them sometimes. But I’d rather dig those than trash. See you out there sometime. _/👍
Going on vacation to South Padre this summer and cannot find any info if metal detecting is okay on the beach. Do you ever run into problems with law enforcement?
I live on North Padre but... South Padre Yes you can detect there. Exceptions will be the extreme north end (part of the National Seashore) and the extreme south end (some state park or something). Best easily accessible detecting is what I would call "Hotel Row" in front of all the hotels. When I was there the south end of hotel row provided the widest beaches and more frequent finds. The sand was soft and deep in most places except the south hotel row areas. Free parking is available behind the hotels ( for some not all). A vehicle pass to drive on the beach was silly expensive and by the day ( compared to a $12 yearly pass here in Corpus) so, I didn't do any beach driving...just found free parking and walked the beach.
I’m across the pond from you swfl and yes even at 60 degrees when the air starts blowing it gets chilly and I’m here to tell you Ol fat Freddy doesn’t like it cold 😎
LOL. I was in FL after Ian for just over a month. I hunted most of the mid West coast (was staying around Sarasota) for basically nothing while the guys over on the East coast were finding all kinds of stuff. I never got the time to get over there. Thanks for the comment Fred.
@@CrustyClad I know what you mean I’m in Ft. Myers i have found a couple silver rings one still had a price tag on it but no name from the store it came from but mostly just clad some spendable. Good hunting to you
This is North Padre around Corpus Christi. I have 2 videos that explain this area. You can detect on S Padre anywhere except the National or State Parks 👍
The wife and I are coming there soon to visit her parebts..Ill be metal detecting.. is south pad island a good place to hit the beach at this time of year?
Ive been to South Padre one time and it was in summer. At North Padre around the Corpus / Port Aransas area beaches and the inland Bays.... currently very sanded in. Sure there are targets as always but it has been very slow and few between for decent finds. A good time to hit the Texas coast is mid ish Jan when there are superlow tides. Back to South Padre... Beach access (driving) is more $$ than North Padre. You can however find parking and walk across the street to the beach. If your actually staying on the beach in a hotel even better. I found the South end of "hotel row" to be holding the most targets. That said, just look for wash-out areas in the dunes ro where the dunes have been pushed back....hit those for sure. Hunting the waterline was pointless because the sand was so soft. Hunt higher on the beach and focus on the washouts and dune cuts..
@CrustyClad Thanks for the info.. much appreciated. I'm from Florida, so I'm use to the Florida beaches. I've never been on a beach that wasn't a Florida beach. Doesn't necessarily have to be South Padres Island for any good beach to metal detect close to Rio Hondo is where we'll be.. unless I decide to just get a room on the beach somewhere
@CrustyClad we are heading out at 2am Monday morning..18 hour drive. Take 2 days because she can't be cooped up in the truck that long..lol letcha know if I have any luck

Always like it that you came back with another video. Score on the silver ring and some clad. So many weights. Peace

Yep. The goodies are in spots but Herb finds them all b4 I can....lol. Thanks for the comment
I wii see you this weekend at the beach, sir.
I'm sure I'll be somewhere. Island was good for a couple days, now hit or miss again.
Silver is always nice ! Check the price on fishing weights . They are getting expensive .
Yep. I usually just give them away to the fishermen on the beach, along with a channel sticker if course...lol 👍

I live in Alice and I have been wanting to start detecting also.
Definitely suggest ya do. Dirt fishing can be quite good in your area and the smaller surrounding communities. 👍
@@CrustyClad thanks, I might look around some old sights. There’s also our ranch I plan on checking out. It has a nice dry creek bed.

School grounds and sports fields 💲. Older parks that still have the metal slides 💲
Nice video, I still need to head down thay way for my first beach hunt, Been saying that for a few years, I'm up by San antonio
Hey Arthur. Lemme know when ya head this way. Plan on staying a few days and I'll show ya around. Several places other than the Island.
@@CrustyClad cool, thanks
What do you do with your lead. I melt mine into diving weights. Beats scrap price.
I usually give it away to fishermen I see on the beach. I considered selling it at one point but too much hassle to deal with.
Is this South Padre island? Just picked up detector but not sure what the laws are.
