Thank you so much for bringing us a clear understanding of what your opinion is about this monitor. Keep up the good work 😁👍
Great video Man! Nice and informative without any fuss. At one point in the video you said that you can't use freesync with nvidea cards. Since the release of the video nvidea has pushed out a driver that makes it possible to run freesync on 10 and up series cards. They've said that the quality of freesync is very much not guaranteed, but it seems like there hasn't been any monitors that have had problems yet.
Yes that's correct. That wasn't a known thing at time of review, but users have confirmed that Adaptive-Sync for Nvidia GPUs (G-SYNC Compatible Mode) works nicely on this model. There is a thread with some of this feedback on our forum - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/testing-g-sync-compatible-freesync-monitors/. There are most certainly monitors that have flawed implementations or issues as an Nvidia user (refer to our recent review of the AG273QCX) but this isn't one of them.
Thanks for this! 😁 Bought this monitor yesterday And Thanks for that crosshair tip! Thats good because I play csgo and I can use that when I try to noscope!!
It's a decent monitor. Quite similar to this 23.6" model. A bit more 'VA glow' (still strong contrast) and pixel responsiveness not quite as good. But a lot of this review applies to that model, it's a good all-round performer.

That's correct - something I should've mentioned in the video. I've told people this about 100 times in the comments section, so I wish AOC made this clearer in the menu system!
No problem. You'll find it a lot more informative than the 5-10 minute videos from influencers and suchlike. Excellent review, both the article and the video. Could you please post your recommended settings for this monitor? Most owners would find it extremely helpful and it would complete your overall excellent work. (I find it really difficult to calibrate this monitor to my exact needs...)
Thanks a bunch, I just got a monitor, and this really helped me with figuring out a few problems, especially the over sharpness problem I encountered! XD

Thanks, great video, it helped me a lot understanding many options. One thing: With the app 'AOC G-Menu' (it's on the CD that comes with the monitor) you can change 'shadow control' one step at a time (instead of 10 which is a lot). Also with G-Menu you can assign hot keys for brigthness, shadow control and game mode. I also tried an app called 'i-Menu-AOC4.3.1-setup' (I think its a simpler and previous version of 'G-Menu') it works ok but Is not that good.
No problem. They don't make it obvious at all, lots of people have no idea how to do that. It should be a toggle in the main menu instead of assigned to an unlabelled button really.
It's explored in the review and our dedicated responsiveness article. It sets the level of grey to grey acceleration and affects the pixel response behaviour of the monitor.
What do you mean "a tutorial". You just press a single button as covered in the video to activate it. And press the same button to deactivate it. 1:30.

DisplayPort can be annoying. Leave everything connected up and then disconnect the monitor from the power (unplug the power cable), wait 30 seconds+, plug it back in. That power cycles it and might wake it all up. Otherwise, try setting 'DP Version' to '1.1' and then back to '1.2' if your system supports it.
If you mean best budget 144Hz VA monitor, then yes. There are some subpixel related issues which affect text clarity, as noted in the written review. Most users don't find these problematic, but some do.

Hi, I have a 75hz Aoc with the same osd but when I go to Extra there is written 60hz, this is because of the console that I use that can’t support 75hz or bad settings on the screen?
Exactly the same way as any other monitor. I.e. on the system, not the monitor! Monitors can only display certain refresh rates, which they will list and will allow you to select. Custom resolutions can be created, but that relies on the GPU and the monitor will simply run at its native resolution.
The CD is meant to go into a suitable optical drive on the system. If you don't have one, simply download the software from AOC's website instead (you don't need the software to use the monitor, incidentally) - eu.aoc.com/en/gaming/products/monitors/c24g1/downloads.
I have a problem, when I activate the option of MBR to reduce the blur and exit a game (in this case counter strike) the option is disabled and I have to activate it every time I want to play, some way that I always stay active?
This is covered in the written review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Responsiveness: "You might also notice that an additional ‘Overdrive’ setting called ‘Boost’ is available. This is the same as setting ‘Overdrive’ to ‘Strong’ and ‘MBR’ to ‘20’." So there you go - nothing special, it just does that.
Afraid not, it's really not my area of expertise. The 3.5mm jack is a headphone jack so it may not support particularly high-powered speakers. Also make sure the volume is turned up in the OSD and your system sound source is selected as the monitor.
The same settings I'd recommend for any other task on the monitor, but you need to adjust according to your own preferences and unit. See 'Optimal OSD Settings' (and 'Test Settings') and the calibration section more broadly - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration.
So I got this monitor as well and found out that all the preset color temperature settings are different than in the video with "Normal" looking best to me (R 50, G 42, B 44 - I'm probably going to stay with that). Does that mean that AOC is doing some sort of calibration before they ship their products?
Individual units differ. If 'Normal' looks best for you then go with it. AOC certainly do some basic calibration, but you need to recalibrate on your own system and also over time as things change.
Hi, great video. Just wondering how to get rid of the black bars, I can't seem to find the right setting, it was using the full screen before then it just switched, and I can't seem to get it back.
The only setting on the monitor that would change that is 'Image Ratio'. If you're running at the native 1920 x 1080 resolution you shouldn't be getting black bars.
@@PCMonitors thanks for the reply, i checked image ratio but its greyed out cant click it, its set to wide and the auto config is also greyed out, anyway I can change that, or factory reset it? thanks for the help.
@@PCMonitors I have two monitors hooked up to a Nvidia GTX 960 quite old, on is by dvi to hdmi for the acer monitor, and aoc is a display port, both now have the bars on sides and top, again thanks for all the help
I'm not really sure what you can do. Some weird GPU scaling or other setting, but not a monitor-specific issue. I'd recommend fresh installing a new graphics driver. And connect up one monitor first and make sure it's working properly before adding the 2nd.
Apples and oranges, they're strong in different areas. There's a thread covering the most relevant comparison - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/aoc-c24g1-vs-aoc-24g2/.
Hey mate, the settings that you have on the monitor are there your preffered ones or just default? If they are your preffered ones should I use them myself?
Refer to the calibration section of the written review, in particular the 'Optimal OSD Settings' and 'Test Settings'. By all means try them, but each unit and individual preferences differ. pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration
As explored in the review, the 'Boost' setting is available if you're not using Adaptive-Sync ('FreeSync'). It enforces the strongest MBR strobe backlight setting and couples that with a pixel overdrive level that's the same as 'Strong'.
8:09 Are you sure low input lag option being turned on doesn't change anything in terms of image quality? Even AOC says this on their website: "Low Input Lag Unleash your reflexes by switching to the AOC Low Input Lag mode. *Forget graphical frills: this mode rewires the monitor in favour of raw response time,* giving the ultimate edge in hair trigger stand offs." I wonder what graphical frills and what type of "rewiring"... I think I will keep my PS5 on non-120Hz mode and my PC on 60Hz and without FreeSync, because being on 120Hz of having FreeSync turned on makes the Low Input Lag mode turned on and grayed out (pressumably turned on, since I can't say if it's ON or OFF if it's grayed out, it says ON, but you never know really).
Just use it and see for yourself - you'll notice no difference whatsoever. It's also forcefully enabled with Adaptive-Sync on many AOC models such as this one - covered in the review. Ignore the marketing speak, it makes absolutely no difference to image quality. The setting even being there in the first place is just a marketing gimmick really as people like to be able to turn that sort of thing on, makes them feel 'good'. Trust me, I've used many models with similar features and both my well-trained eyes and colorimeters agree with this assessment.
Hello, I'm having an issue with my C24G1. I can see the so called "scan lines" all over the screen, from top to bottom. Already tried switching between my other monitor Display Port cable and the one i got with C24G1 as well as switching between DP and HDMI cable - nothing helped. My question is should I get my monitor replaced or the scan lines are a common thing and I should ignore them?
I don't recall seeing this strongly on my unit - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Interlace_pattern_artifacts. Perhaps stronger at lower refresh rates - what refresh rate are you running the monitor at when observing this?
Are they moving ('dynamic interlace patterns') or static? If static there will be some but they shouldn't be as clear as you've shown and your unit may be faulty.
They are static, I think my unit might be faulty too. One more thing I noticed this morning is a straight black line going across the task bar on the bottom of my screen. I have contacted the place where I bought the monitor and will update you. Thank you for your time replying.
@@PCMonitors Brightness= 65 (according to preferences and lighting) Color Temp= User R= 50 G= 42 B= 33 Overdrive= Medium/Strong FreeSync= On (AMD GPU only) Refresh rate (Windows setting)= 144Hz this is the best?
That is what I considered optimal on my unit, that's what the 'Test Settings' in any of our reviews refers to. Or in this case 'Optimal OSD settings', as I also applied an ICC profile. But as noted ithe ICC profile is not essential, it was just for a little boost. By all means try our ICC profile as well, but if it doesn't look right on your unit and indeed if those settings don't suit you then that's fine, individual units and preferences differ.

Are you feeding the monitor a 1920 x 1080 signal? And if so what is your GPU and how have you connected up the monitor?
@@PCMonitors I have two monitors hooked up to a Nvidia GTX 960 quite old, on is by dvi to hdmi for the acer monitor, and aoc is a display port, both now have the bars on sides and top, again thanks for all the help
I'm not really sure what you can do. Some weird GPU scaling or other setting, but not a monitor-specific issue. I'd recommend fresh installing a new graphics driver. And connect up one monitor first and make sure it's working properly before adding the 2nd.
What you think has better image quality a va monitor like this or an ips monitor?
Apples and oranges, they're strong in different areas. There's a thread covering the most relevant comparison - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/aoc-c24g1-vs-aoc-24g2/.
How do you change the (IMAGE RATIO) of the monitor? Just want to know it is grey for me I can’t switch options
It's only available for specific resolution and refresh rate combinations.
@@PCMonitors Thank you for your reply
Why do i have 4 options for overdrive? Off, weak, medium, strong, boost.
As explored in the review, the 'Boost' setting is available if you're not using Adaptive-Sync ('FreeSync'). It enforces the strongest MBR strobe backlight setting and couples that with a pixel overdrive level that's the same as 'Strong'.
How did you get the red cross hair again????
Press the third button.
Can u tell me the ones with the least blue light and the ones with the most blu light pls
Refer to the calibration section of the review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration (see table).
Somehow the game mode is greyed out for me. Is there a workaround to turn that on?
It will be because of some other settings you've selected. If in doubt perform a factory reset of the monitor.
Can you change the aspect ratio to 4:3?
I wanna change my Manitor to DP but there is no ok bottom so I can’t change it??????
The 'Menu' button also acts as the 'OK'/'Enter' button.

Are you sure low input lag option being turned on doesn't change anything in terms of image quality? Even AOC says this on their website:
"Low Input Lag
Unleash your reflexes by switching to the AOC Low Input Lag mode. *Forget graphical frills: this mode rewires the monitor in favour of raw response time,* giving the ultimate edge in hair trigger stand offs."
I wonder what graphical frills and what type of "rewiring"...
@@PCMonitors On 144hz. I also tested 120, 60 and 50hz and the scan lines were slightly less visible.
This is what it looks like on 144hz. imgur.com/a/KXUALZm
Does the monitor have speakers build in and if so how do you use them?
No.
The C24G1 doesn't, you must have a different model.
How do i turn on the leds for the monitor please respond
Which LEDs would these be?
PC Monitors on the box it says LED monitor so is there Any LEDs on the monitor?
It's referring to the backlight, which as with pretty much any modern monitor at the moment uses LEDs.
Hi mate. Can you post the best settings for games? Best quality color...
pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration
@@PCMonitors Brightness= 65 (according to preferences and lighting)
Color Temp= User
R= 50
G= 42
B= 33
Overdrive= Medium/Strong
FreeSync= On (AMD GPU only)
Refresh rate (Windows setting)= 144Hz
this is the best?
That is what I considered optimal on my unit, that's what the 'Test Settings' in any of our reviews refers to. Or in this case 'Optimal OSD settings', as I also applied an ICC profile. But as noted ithe ICC profile is not essential, it was just for a little boost. By all means try our ICC profile as well, but if it doesn't look right on your unit and indeed if those settings don't suit you then that's fine, individual units and preferences differ.
