      I’m struggling with, Am I teaching her enough daily. I know she’s only 5 so I only have her attention span for about 35-40min at a time. Therefore it seems we’re doin school off and on all day long and she’s getting burned out. I don’t feel like I’m ever doing “enough”!🤷‍♀️yet I feel like I’m aggravating her constantly trying to sneak teach her things. Idk 🤷‍♀️sorry for venting!
      Thanks again

      Mama, vent anytime! She's only 5? Sweet mama....soak up life right now! 30-40 is all she really needs! She is learning through life, every day! You are doing a great job, mama! You are doing enough!!!! My biggest regret was doing too much, too early. It was totally a thing around here and we wasted too many days...too many tears. Embrace your time with your baby girl!🤗💗🤗💗🤗 YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!

    I love embracing the flexibility of homeschool. We can work on concepts longer if needed and I don’t have to stress about being “behind”. I go with my kids’ attitudes. I read them. If I can see the flustered feelings/overwhelm start to come up, I make them take a break! That small amount of awareness is so huge and prevents so many tears 🧡

    • @SimplyLivingIt
      @SimplyLivingIt  4 года назад +1

      Yes! Your words are spot on! Being aware makes a huge difference! Those days I try to push to "get it all done," are the days I need to pause and be aware!

    This is the area I struggle with the most! My mindset is always to get school done so I can get my other stuff done...I feel like there’s no time for anything else. Or some days by the time we get school done we’re all too frazzled to play with each other! I’m just not that “fun” mom....I don’t even know how to begin. Your advice was great, I just don’t know how to fit it in here. I don’t know how to turn myself off sometimes...

    • @SimplyLivingIt
      @SimplyLivingIt  4 года назад +1

      Mama, I am with you. My mind runs the same way...I promise! But again, it doesn't have to be a huge thing! Simply taking a walk, watching a movie together, doing a puzzle, playing a game, cooking dinner together! Anything and everything! Don't be so hard on yourself! You are doing a great job! Maybe start small...once a week, try something new? Just once a week to start, you know?! 🤗🤗🤗💗

    Since it snowed here yesterday, my boys were all about Christmas so I let them decorate for Christmas and we did all the normal Christmas things, baking, crafting, dancing, singing, it was great. I'm not a year long Christmas celebrator, so it stretched me to go with it and I'm so glad I did.

    "One fun thing" is a key part of my usual homeschool routine. I think it makes a lot of difference to have some little fun extra, some little celebratory element woven throughout our days. This is such wise advice, Jamie! The BIG moments and the LITTLE moments, all put together, that's what make up life and all the good memories.

    I’m new to your channel but you just jumped up the list to one of my favorites just alone in your comment “my kids don’t always want to do school”. I think this goes with comparing yourself to others but I feel like in all the homeschool mom videos I’ve never heard anyone say that. It makes me feel SO much better. Some of that pressure comes from feeling like “other kids like their homeschooling, why do mine complain about doing work?”. Thank you so much for that. I will try to go into our days with the goal of “make one this fun.” :)

    I agree...even when I don't "feel" like making extra time or doing some intentional I still make that time. Our time is going to the playground before or after school sometimes both 😂 just to get a break and get some fresh air...exercise etc. It def makes a difference in our day 👍 and I'm always glad that I pushed thru my feelings to do it. AND sometimes it acts as a great motivation for the kids to get their work done 😂 so many possibilities LOL

    Greetings from Indonesia. I'm diagnosed with breast cancer stage 3B in the middle of my 2nd year of homeschooling my daughter. She's 9yo now. Since then I enrolled her to a non-formal school which runs the same curriculum as mine. Now that I have to go through radiotherapy sessions out of town, I have to bring her with me. She continues her online sessions from Mon-Fri 30-45 min/day. I'm kinda lost, I feel lethargic, I give up as soon as I feel she's not interested in studying/memorising. The struggle is real. Need to work on that awareness part. Thank you for sharing this💐

    Your videos are so relatable and encouraging. I watched your other video about not comparing and I was telling my friend that i don't compare to others but I compare to my old homeschool. (I homeschooled my children and now I am raising my grandson and homeschooling again) and I get discouraged because we are great at the basics but I used to do fun stuff all the time. My friend reminded me that my life is different now. I am doing the sungle mom thing, running a daycare so that i can stay home with my little man, and homeschooling. I cant do things the same way I did when i was a stay at hone homeschool mom. My logical brain understands that but my heart is sad. Thank you for always encouraging and reminding us that every day is different and that's okay.

    Loved this video! Thank you for sharing. Being intentional with my time has been something I am working on. I have a hard time planning FUN. I lean toward being spontaneous with it. I feel out the morning vibe and move accordingly. Sometimes I start my mornings off with a bike ride, go to park to play , or walk around the neighborhood and we take turns playing eye spy with my little eye. It has been great to get moving 1st thing in the morning. My kids get their energy out then we fuel up on snacks. Sometimes when things are starting to go crooked we take Cookie breaks. Instant smiles and is an easy way to get back on track. Sometimes it is just playing a game or doing a puzzle as mentioned. Even just making a meal together. I have to say starting mornings off with something fun has made a HUGE difference. I have a 12, 6, 5, year old.. the age gap sometimes is a challenge when trying to find something my 12 year old will enjoy. Our kids want and need our undivided attention. It is truely those times they do remember. We find fun in the littlest things when we focus on eachother without distractions. It is amazing to see and feel the connections in those moments. That is when we all agree we had the most fun. 🥳

    I have three boys, too, just a bit younger than yours so I really appreciate your videos!
    One really easy thing we’ve done to add some fun to our homeschool - read a Jack Prelutsky poem every other day or so. It doesn’t take long at all, we can do it without even leaving the table, and it usually has my boys laughing! Now we have our own little family inside joke phrases like “you measure with an octopus” and “the moon is made of chocolate pudding”. They don’t make any sense to others, but they make us giggle. 😆
