Here in Portage, MI we didn't have a Christmas parade (they do have one up in Kalamazoo, though!). However, the first Saturday of December every year, we have our tree lighting ceremony. It's great - there's an essay reading from kids in the Portage school district, a choir from one of the high schools singing Christmas songs, and then the countdown and lighting of the tree. After that, there's a big festival down at the historic Celery Flats park, with cookies and milk, hot cider and hot cocoa, Santa & Mrs. Claus, a petting zoo, and a bunch of other fun activities for kids. Small towns for the Holidays are the best. :)
We have a parade here in Michigan the day after Thanksgiving. Last year it was very comfortable and warm at about 50°. This year it was freezing and about 27°.
Congratulations Jacob! Fellow diabetic here! I agree to eat what works for you because that’s what I do. I was diagnosed in 2006 and I struggled for so many years but in October 2022 till now my A1C has gone from 13 down to 6.7 work in progress. I thank Dexcom arm meter for the help as well. Continue your good journey❤️ I’m from Waco, Texas and they have a Christmas Winter Wonderland every year with a parade and make shift ice rink 😂 Since I moved to a larger City the parades have gotten more commercial!
Yes we have parades for Christmas in upper NY. I live 30 minutes from the 1000 islands and Canada. Several happen in the area. Watertown had one last Friday. Coats are the way.😊
Live from the North. More specifically Camden County, NJ, directly east of Philadelphia. MANY of the surrounding towns have Christmas parades. Many also have a special event where Santa rides atop an ultra lit up hook and ladder fire truck. Over several nights he visits EVERY SINGLE neighborhood playing holiday music and waving to everyone. Even as Senior Citizens, my wife and I get super excited to stand outside in the cold to wave back to Santa!
Jacob, I'm diabetic as well and have been for a long time. It's not easy an easy thing, I know. One of the good things you do is a lot of walking. That's a plus for diabetics. I'm so glad you have improved and done well with your blood sugar levels and diabetes. Congrats on your achievements and stay well. It's worth it.
I am from Tulsa but now live in Nowata Oklahoma and we went to Bartlesville Christmas Parade, my boyfriend's beautiful daughter is in the band and plays the trumpet and they have an amazing parade every year. Highly recommend!
Hi Jacob, yes they have a Christmas Parade in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. But I can't go anymore because I can't deal with the cold weather. The parade was this last Saturday. Congratulations on the good news 👏 for your check up.
Well in the Netherlands we dont have a christmas parade since we celebrate sinterklaas, aka the person santa was based on. Every town has like a parade where he enters the town with his helpers. Its quite fun, because they always make it a spectacle having a story about things going wrong which end up getting resolved in the end.
Many of the small towns around me had there Christmas Parade and tree lighting last weekend. It was to cold and wet for my old bones to be out there. Hope Jenn is feeling better soon.
The mail was so relatable. Wife and I were cackling. Enjoying these around-the-house, around town vlogs. Nice to see you taking it easy a bit after such a killer year of content!
Love this!!! Im from Murphy, just a few small towns over from you, we had a similar parade this past Sunday! Dunno if you're interested, but Cherokee has their parade the 9th at 1800, and Robbinsville the same day and time. Thank you so much for covering our small western NC towns as much as you do!!!!
Hello Jacob Enjoying seeing this video of your towns Christmas Parade,. I'm currently living in Holly, Michigan where they have an old time Christmas event called Dickens Fest. They have been doing this for along time, not sure if they do a parade. I'm originally from Lansing and they usually have a parade in front of the capital building last time I saw one years ago.
I'm from Juneau WI. But grew up in Oconomowoc WI The Waukesha Christmas parade was a tradition for my family when I was growing up. But then a stupid man ruined it for us, but there is still a very nice parade in Oconomowoc that I attend now. Christmas parades are very common in and around our state of WI. Love your channel and pray that you are truly blessed in 2024 and have a Merry Christmas 🎅
Im from Duluth, MN and we have the Christmas city of the north parade. It should have been canceled many times due to extreme weather but there was one year I thought I would die from exposure. I was in band😮35 years ago 😅. Now they have a beautiful light event in the bay called Bentleyville. Maybe the parade is still a thing too.
I live in San Antonio Texas and we have the Holiday River Parade every year on the Riverwalk.. they decorate the barges and we have the trees lit up every year, it's beautiful time of the year to be down there. The parade is usually available to stream on the Internet or you tube 👍
I'm currently living in eau claire wis and lived in st Paul mn most my life . Eau claire has the clear water parade to kick off cmas and in the neighboring town of chippewa falls has a cmas parade as well . Mpls or the twin cities has tons of cmas holiday events and parades to check out as well .
Hey Jacob, I can totally relate to what your saying! I traveled for 5 years straight, living out of a suitcase and motels. It's just so convenient to grab something quick and your typically not gonna cook in the motel room. I'm assuming your type II and probably on Metformin as I am. I commend you on all that you've achieved. I was introduced to you through Adam the Woo, whom I've watched for 2 years now. I really have enjoyed most of your videos. The state fairs were really cool! I will continue to watch. Thanks for sharing yours and Jenn's life with us. I know you guys will be even happier now since the move. I'm not far from you, a little town called Salisbury. You may have visited here, Adam did a while back. Cheerwine and Food Lion town! God Bless both of you and I wish you many many happy years together! Take Care!
Kudos to your RUclips Channel, Jacob! 👍👍👍👍 I reside here in Weirton, WV and I'm a lifelong resident. Here in Weirton, WV we have a Christmas parade in December. We have our town's parade in the evening after dark.
There is a great small town one in Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Florida, the first Saturday of December. When my daughter was growing up we would go to that one.
Hey carpetbagger i live only an hour and 47 minutes from you. We recently had our christmas parade not to long ago. We also have a winter holiday tradition every year where our downtown area is lit up and several backdrops for holiday photos
Very entertaining pointing out the many Grinches. I'm surprised that not more churches were in the parade. Church floats have some of the coolest music. Speaking of too many...., you and Jenn will have to figure out what kind of merchandise you will fill the house with. It looks like you have a lot of wall space to put up wall displays with shelves, posters, artwork, etc.
Your small town of Waynesville is a blast from the past!!!; It is charming, quaint, eclectic, and hearkens me back to the small towns around Detroit like that I was lucky enough to live in throughout my youth!!!!
Love the night time Christmas parades I'm from Hamilton we have a daytime one end. I would also like to say you doing a great job on your health Jacob. I wish I could say the same take care of my friend.
As someone who’s been into health and fitness for a long time, you’re doing it right. As long as you take your doctor’s recommendations into account, there’s no good or bad way of dieting. Keep doing what works for you. Thats the best and prolonged way of doing it. 👍🏻
My hometown of Battle Creek, MI does a Christmas parade. To be fair, they do it in November though and have hot air balloon baskets roll threw pumping out fire to warm you up 😆
I love when these small towns have their Christmas parades. They go out of their way to put on a parade to make a lot of kids and parents love the holidays. Hope that your diabetes goes on the down-low Jacob!
This parade is pretty much exact as the parade that we have in Alpena, Michigan. The hot air balloon float was the highlight here. They had to make sure not to burn and power lines down! The dancing Peanuts gang was my favorite from your parade. Merry Christmas!
Before my older brother joined the Military and became an MP back in 2004 he used to be volunteer a Firefighter and he also worked with Paramedics and because of where he was firefighter he could be apart of all of the Parades in the town we used to live in and because of that i actually got to join a few of the parades because my brother was able to convince the people over the parades to let me join which was really cool and fun btw oh yeah and for anyone who might not know what an MP is it's short for Military Police
I’m glad to hear you are taking better care of yourself! Now you have someone that will help you with that!❤ I’m sorry Jenn isn’t feeling well, I hope she gets better soon.
Hi Jacob...I live in Levittown,Pa & we have a holiday parade the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year !!!! Very similar to yours. Enjoy ur holidays at home this year ✌️❤️🙂
My small town does a lighted Christmas parade every year. I live in spitting distance from Canada in Washington state. I love to go and watch the kids getting excited.
As a certified trainer, nutritionist and nutrient timing I am proud of you for your choices and you are doing it right. You'll probably be off almost all medications related to the issues you've mentioned. Great job. Your body is always trying to stay the same, physically and metabolically. Your "cheats" are beneficial for many reasons.
As somebody who has a friend who is diabetic, I could totally understand that you are trying your hardest to manage your diabetes. Keep up the hard work man. You got a big support group your fans as your support group
I'm from Presque Isle Maine(way north)..We have a Christmas light parade on main street the first weekend in December. Thanks for sharing your parade with us.Hope Jenn is feeling better..Much love and respect from Maine ❤
The parade was pretty good. I like the wastewater float best. The Santa float was very nice too. The lighted shed and backhoe were quite intriguing and creative!
Greater Philadelphia. We did a Thanksgiving Parade before NYC. Oddly Dunkin is the sponsor and they are based in Boston, should be Wawa or any eastern PA snack producer tbh
I'm from Upstate New York, near Albany, and we do have a Christmas Parade. It's usually scheduled for around Thanksgiving time to avoid temps down around zero lol It's a tradition and it's been going on for over 60 years. Since I've moved to Arizona, I don't get to view a holiday parade and I miss it. Just one of those things I really miss from my childhood.
My town is so small, that our parade has only one parade float, high school band, Shriner bikers and a couple of horses 😮. They parade around the city hall over and over. 😂 🦙
Here in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada we have a Santa Claus parade every year in mid November. Every single small, medium & large town in most of Ontario has a yearly Xmas / Santa Claus parade:)
We have Christmas parades in NY no matter how cold it is. We also have many tree lighting ceremonies and parties.... indoor and outdoor with hot cocoa and cookies etc
I felt as if I wanted the parade to hurry up and be over, because I had to hustle in to Higbee's department store. I had something very important to ask Santa about.
Along with Christmas parades in small towns they also have some sort of give away for people who "shop local". The town I live in gives you tickets when you buy anything in our town with a $$$ prize if you come back to the big drawing.
Congratulations on the good Dr appointment Jacob. keep up the amazing work and you are looking good and you inspire me to take better care of myself I'm from West Branch Michigan and we have a Christmas parade
Silly question to ask, but are you well known in waynesville with the local people as the Carpetbagger on youtube 😊, do you get stopped alot in the street since its your hometown😊 im originally from London uk but now living in a small market town called kelso in the Scottish Borders, we have Christmas markets but not parades not to my knowledge anyway.
Your using the scrambler car as a piece of furniture!? That is so cool!! I love your blue cabinets by the way. I also am glad your doing well health wise. You two have a nice place setting up. Grinchfest 2023!! I loved seeing your adventures today as well!! Thanks for the awesome video!!
It’s always a relief when you get good news from the doctor, as you did. Nice work Jacob for taking control of your health and doing the effort to put your health needs in higher priority. May you enjoy the rewards of your choices! Yes holiday Christmas parades are a thing! I’m in Southern California, in a region known as the Inland Empire or IE for short; you know nearly everything is boiled down to acronyms these days. My city of Ontario had its annual Christmas parade on this past Saturday. The city has parades for Christmastime and Independence Day. Parade route uses the old town district street of Euclid Avenue. Neighboring cities also have Christmastime Parades. Yes I enjoy parades both attending in person and viewing on television. Parade traditions were brought to California by immigrants from other states, in my opinion. California’s population grew from massive migration of people from other American states. As with all migration, culture is transplanted to the new place of residence, and parades are part of the traditions included. Temperate weather helps & facilitates adoption too! Continued good luck with the setting in of belongings in your home. Take it slow and rest to avoid getting exhausted and sick. After all the holidays are here. 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻⭐️ Enjoyed this episode very much!
In Florida, every little town has had a holiday parade for as long as I recall. For a short time my town had some trouble with some rambunctious local little leaguers riding on the floats who were to "toss" candy to the spectators Mardi Gras style, but instead of an using an underhand toss, some kids started rifling their starlight mints and peppermint bonbons straight to the audience, you know, because they're little kids and can't toss light candy very far. Someone complained to the town council about getting beaned in the head by a candy cane and for a while we had walking elves that handed out the candy as the parade passed by... I don't go anymore to the parade now that the kids are grown, but you can sure hear it because every cop car, motorcycle, fire truck and antique car compete to blast their horns and sirens as loud as possible.

There is a holiday parade in Grand Rapids too, but obviously not a small town parade. :)

We have a parade here in Michigan the day after Thanksgiving. Last year it was very comfortable and warm at about 50°. This year it was freezing and about 27°.
I'm from Nova Scotia Canada and we do have Christmas parades.. I love the Christmas parades..especially our parade of lights.

Yes we have parades for Christmas in upper NY. I live 30 minutes from the 1000 islands and Canada. Several happen in the area. Watertown had one last Friday. Coats are the way.😊
Great parade. No parade here in Lomita, CA but they have a sleigh truck with Santa Claus that goes around the week of Christmas.
We have our Christmas parade Thursday December 7th me and my wife goes every time here in Lakeland Florida
Live from the North. More specifically Camden County, NJ, directly east of Philadelphia. MANY of the surrounding towns have Christmas parades. I’m from DeSoto County, Mississippi…about 10 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. My town had our Christmas parade a couple of days ago.

I live in Kershaw, SC and yes we have a town Christmas parade! Next town over, Lugoff, SC, near Camden, has a large parade too!!
I am from Tulsa but now live in Nowata Oklahoma and we went to Bartlesville Christmas Parade, my boyfriend's beautiful daughter is in the band and plays the trumpet and they have an amazing parade every year. Highly recommend!

We have a Christmas parade every year in Lowell Indiana

Kennesaw GA has a great Christmas parade with Santa and the mayor. ❤

Canadians are very robust people! If it were that cold, I bet you wouldn't even notice.
Why miss the parade?
There is a great small town one in Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Florida, the first Saturday of December. When my daughter was growing up we would go to that one.

They put in so much effort to make the floats look fantastic.

We have a Christmas Parade in the town in England where I live
I live 2 counties away in Macon county. We go every year. It’s like our official kickoff to Christmas season.
My hometown of Battle Creek, MI does a Christmas parade. To be fair, they do it in November though and have hot air balloon baskets roll threw pumping out fire to warm you up 😆
I'm glad to hear you got good news from your doctor.
We do Christmas parades here in Maine as well
Small town parades are some of the best

As a certified trainer, nutritionist and nutrient timing I am proud of you for your choices and you are doing it right.
