0:00 Welcome, Don. 0:55 Introduction. 1:32 A brief summary of Don's position. 5:21 Are you still doing research on this topic? 8:57 When you talk about the research at Yale, are you referring to the paper that attacks your theory from James J. Gibson's perspective? 11:51 Are you a monist or a pluralist? 13:23 Why has this work not fundamentally changed the existing paradigm? 19:14 What are your thoughts on Bernardo Kastrup's model of consciousness? 23:12 Are the two fundamental conscious agents also fundamentally different? 25:12 Are you aware of theologians following or being inspired by your work? 39:19 Could you give us your thoughts on the hard problem of consciousness? 50:08 If the perception of a dog evokes fear in me, can the feeling of fear be reduced to the mathematical structure of the perception? 56:05 Why does mathematical reasoning work if our perceptions are evolved to be non-veridical? 1:06:48 What are your thoughts on papers from J. Gray Monroe or Douglas Axe saying evolutionary mutations and protein folding are not random? 1:13:04 Do you think wave function collapse causes consciousness or the other way around? 1:23:48 Could non-contextual realism could be true if we take the many-worlds interpretation? 1:27:14 What would Carlo Rovelli think of QBism? 1:28:15 How does Psi research fit into your framework? 1:37:02 How do you solve the interaction problem between minds? 1:43:58 Could you clarify any differences between conscious realism and idealism? 1:47:47 Thank you. my mic cuts out at weird times during this. Sorry about that! The question at 0:1:28:15 is "how does psi research fit into your framework?", NOT "how does psi?".
That's an awesome podcast and amazing host you had. Thank you. If I may however, sometimes i don't exactly hear what you're saying well because, I think, of your mic or audio.

Absolutely awesome AMA - my thanks to Professor Hoffman, Jack, and Rahman for making this happen. I'll have to post some of my own questions next time!
This ties in w an old idea I had that solves the Fermi paradox - advanced civs find a more stable dimension where they migrate to shortly after their tech peak.
I might be way in left field but don't neural networks need initialization? The fact that AI's are getting better at protein folding solutions 1:10:09 , I personally don't think would be a good argument against Telos because the genetic algorithms are not being developed from beginning of evolution of "unconscious matter" through the first functional amino acids. They are being fed advanced data and to me, it just makes sense that they would evolve that advanced data further. If I am missing something, any input is appreciated. It's great to see Dr. Hoffman doing interviews again. Thank you guys for the interview.
Grrrrreat session... Thank you Jack. I've never thought I would use the term "RockStar" for a scientist, and I know it has been used here and there and I think it is a bit silly, but in this case I think, in every sense of the term, Donald Hoffman is a fricking Rockstar...
Thank you - I listen to Professor Hoffman whenever I can. I subbed to your channel. Just a tip, I would have who your guest is prepared well before hand so the guest feels more welcome and not a fill-in-the-blank. Cheers.

@@TheVeganVicar Good girl! Why did you say his support of homosexuality (among other things) entails that he's affected by an objectively demonic mentality?
The word consciousness is more than a word it is the only word that by saying it refers and evokes the experience of consciousness. The same with I Reality Understanding Awareness. It links to #ChrisLangans #ctmu and #GoddardNevilles understanding of the Jewish name for God #JodHeVauHe. The direction of understanding JHVH leads to idealism while the opposite misunderstanding is expressed as materialism.

could listen to Hoffman all day...one of the most interesting humans in the world right now
"I would be delightfully surprised if this is generally accepted within my lifetime." Because... "This is the big one." Yes....
Fancy running into you here. So would fundamental pre-spacetime then be linked to the non-terminal domain in CTMU speak?
@@hiyoowihamainza949 Yes, but with many qualifications.
What a true gift this is… thank you both 🎁✨

Big fan of Hoffman for many years. Love is mentality and his approach towards science. Luckily it seems that he has recovered from Covid well.
is he an Einstein of our times?
Probably. I think he'll be remembered fondly in history.

Bernardo uses the term Mind at Large from which come all other conscious agencies what he calls Alters.
