I'm also Christian and I love this track. I'm confused because I hear they're satanic, but this track seems oddly Christian to me. Perhaps ignorance is bliss and I'll continue to hear it in the positive light that I precieve it in.

Ghost just keeps getting better every time a new album comes out. This song has everything I loved about killer 80s rock. There isn't a weak track on Impera

Ghost's lyrics are deliberately vague. I think it's Play with the Sire (God, The Father) but it could also say Asiyah, an Islamic level of Heaven. Corrupt religious leaders use Heaven to bait their followers into obedience, bug they ALSO tend to use God, the Father as their tool, claiming that God has decreed something the leader wants. Like wealth.
According to the Kabbalah:

I'm pretty sure I saw an interview with a ghoul who said Papa doesn't write most of the lyrics. I could be mistaken though. Either case I can't imagine anyone but Papa giving this track the same life that he does with his voice.
@@grey1916 if it's the interview that I think you are talking about, that is with the special ghoul AKA Tobias Forge AKA papa. Tobias Forge writes most (if not all) of the lyrics and he was just making a funny joke.

Been trying to find out why this songs called griftwood. The songs about people that do horrible things but preach the Bible so they think they're all good. I Found a grifter is a swindler or a con artist. But where does the wood part come in? Is it just driftwood but with grift instead, anybody know?
I have been wondering that too. Perhaps the grifter in question is just kind of listlessly staying afloat without any real sense of direction other than what his sugar daddy wants, as a piece of driftwood is subservient to the tides of the ocean. That’s my headcanon anyway.

@@LoboEye That’s fairly well understood. We’re both wondering where “wood” comes into play. Obviously a play on the word Driftwood, but the *grift* part of the title is easy to puzzle out. Why is *wood* a part of the title?
Perhaps the “Griftwood” refers to the ‘grifted’, the ones that that are being asked if they are righteous enough to have a seat by the pyre… after all, what happens when you put wood by a 🔥?

I've been a fan of ghost since 2012, after prequelle ghost acquired the most cringey fan base since juggalos. They haven't made a good ghost album since meliora, make ghost satanic again. Bring back Martin.
