  • There are several reasons why divorce rates have increased in India in recent years. Some of these reasons include:
Changing cultural attitudes: As India continues to modernize, there has been a shift in cultural attitudes towards marriage and divorce. People are becoming more individualistic and less bound by tradition and social expectations.
Economic independence of women: Women are becoming more financially independent, which has given them greater freedom to make choices about their lives, including the decision to divorce.
Legal reforms: In recent years, the Indian government has made it easier for couples to get a divorce by introducing reforms to divorce laws, such as the introduction of irretrievable breakdown of marriage as a grounds for divorce.
Increased awareness: There is greater awareness and acceptance of divorce in India, which has reduced the stigma associated with divorce and made it more socially acceptable.
Changing lifestyles: With the rise of urbanization and globalization, people are adopting more Western lifestyles and attitudes towards relationships and marriage, which has also contributed to the increase in divorce rates.
It is important to note that divorce rates in India are still relatively low compared to other countries, and marriage remains an important institution in Indian society.
