As a web comic artist one thing I find challenging is finding the right amount of personality for background characters. Because too little and it will just feel generic and boring but too much then the characters will revolt, steal my pencil and take over the story. Crowds are such a pain.
pretty cool critique and artwork, but I think the biggest issue with putting these character together is that they all feel in the same plane regarding contrast and that's what makes the whole scene look flat, making the front guy with the cloak having more contrast and mr pumpkin monster in the back more gray o as it is would def give more life to this scene
