A good thing to do with those transistor clamps is to stick a small rubber equipment case foot to each transistor contact point on the clamp.

Put some socket lube on the threads of the test lamps...ok? My dog ran out of the room when he heard that horrible squealing! LOL.

Careful, most VR1 pots (As far as my experiance with working on inveters) are (normally frequency adjustment Pots for the factory to set based on normal differences from product to product. This may not apply to all inverters but with the many I have messed with over the years, Its normally what its there for, and with some a VR2 is normally output voltage. Depends on the construction of said inverter as well as the design of them

Could be, that'd be my first guess. My second guess would be an output current limit adjustment. In the end I decided not to mess with it for various reasons.

Running it without a heatsink is the best way to verify that it functions properly for various reasons. It's actually 'stupid' to assemble it fully before testing - a mistake that is so tempting to make and one I've made many times myself. But I ran it too long while I blabbered on about something - oops. :)

What model is your volt meter in this video?

I had a feeling that your unheatsinked fets would over heat. I made the exact same mistake when I fixed my inverter. only mine blew up properly. Nowadays I always heatsink before I test.

Great video. What's your take on the Aims 5000 inverter. Thanks

Great video! I have a travel trailer and I want to run my Dish network satellite system as well as the 32" LED TV and DVD player at times. QUIETLY! Campsites do not like NOISE after 10 pm. Is a 1000 watt Samlex pure sine wave inverter enough? Will be running an extension cord or Romex approximately 25 feet from the inverter. 12 or 14 gauge ok? Thanks for the information in advance!

Can you use a p65nf06 in the place of a irf 3205? I have a CyberPower 1400VA Pure Sine wave UPS I am trying to repair and I don't have any IRF 3205 MOSFET but I do have some p65nf06 laying around that camoe out od Cyber power 425VA. My concern is one was used in a Modified Sine wave and this is a true Sine wave. I think the Controller is the key to the Pulse width modulation to create the better sine wave. In a pinch do you think it will work or is this a really bad idea? Thanks!

hey I know you can fix them!!!! the 1500watt 1 I bought from you is still working... so after you fix them how much do you want?????

Where did you get your multimeter from and how much did it cost I need one with an oscilloscope like that

      +mewantbrains
you need or you want? :D
If you need a scope you should really ask yourself if it has to be that portable...
Also the device used in the video is really not a proper oscilloscope...
In terms of functionality you can get the same quality with an arduino and a cheap dot matrix display.

I mostly need something that is relatively cheap and highly portable so I can fit it in my toolkit

Sure hope you didn't pay that much for them but part of me thinks you already know they where busted and you got them with an attempt to fix them, good luck though.
