I don't think anyone destroyed it. From what I heard it got a boiler overhaul which took a few years. I believe it's the same whistle but I don't know if they had to change something for the new boiler but the whistle is in a different position now which might be chocking it from steam. I believe its the same Nathan 6 chime whistle though.
The locomotive once back from its rebuild was running better than ever. It was not destroyed as I was Eli's Mechanic between 2018 and 2022. The whistle sounds funny because it was hard to blow and a linkage was not made for it yet. Here is a video later that year with a whistle linkage. The whistle is the same Nathan 6 chime it had since the beginning, just polished and moved to the steam dome for a crisper sound. I can't speak for the condition of the locomotive beyond March 2022. But it recieved the most work it ever did in my time there.
Such a beatiful train and ill never forget that whistle noise when going around a turn... never forget that train
Yup. I'm glad it's back.
they still gonna restore the other locomotive?
I think that it's in the restoration process.
Too bad this visual doesn't have more views it's pretty good
Thanks.
Thats southern pacifc 4449s six chime but the reason it doesent sound the sam is because its not at right psi
The whistle Eli is equipped with is a replica Nathan 6 chime whistle. SP 4449 was originally equipped with an SP 6 chime.
