Yea idk, I've been doing ATG squats below 90°, and my hip pain is gone and strength is way up. Wish I had always done squats like this. Is there any reason why we were taught to only squat to 90°?

good is the enemy of best. Just because something works doesn't mean its best. deep ATG works well for a time until it doesn't. Eventually it causes more harm than good. Just a matter of time. Whatever the improvements you had with deep ATG, results would be far better with 90 and there will not be any repercussions down the road. Try 90 degree eccentric isometrics with perfect posture and straight feet exactly how me and my athletes show in the vids. Give it a try and compare. That's all I ask. Thanks

@dr.joelseedman9686 can you help me (or those reading) understand why ATG squats are bad long term and why 90° squats are not? Really curious to know the mechanics behind that rationale. Like walking, an atg squat is a basic position for our bodies. Ancestors been sitting around fires that way for thousands of years. So where's the harm in adding load to increase knee, hip and lower back strength/stability, and where do you commonly see issues with that approach?

@@TheDude_Abides_Its simple. Risk to benefit ratio over time while adding resistance could result in loss of performance/profit. Murphy's law.
Pro athletes can NOT get hurt in any way as that will result in preformance deficiencies and so therefore a loss in profit for the athlete and/or organisation.

@Sun-ic7rq nothing you said adds any value to the discussion, unfortunately. All you've done is parrot the same claim the good doctor has. If you could please explain specifically what conditions or diagnosis results from prolonged ATG squats, and why those issues don't occur with those doing 90° squats, I'd love to hear more.

@@Sun-ic7rqMurphys law applies to 90 degree squats too 😂 what happens when you enter a range of motion you aren’t trained in e.g a 90 degree squatter entering atg? You get hurt. Stop with your insane arguments

Why do you have such a weird profile picture with a hard edit on your face and neck? Are you trying to be ironic and weird to get clicks and attention? Or are you just grossly unaware?
