Well, I know what I'm subbing to now - superwog. If you have ever met an Australian of Greek/Italian/Lebanese descent, this is what the majority of them are like. It's in the stereotypical self-satire that's so amusing to us Aussies. To illustrate, I identify as "eurotrash" because my family migrated here from the Netherlands. None of us take our ancestry seriously - we're all just Aussies and we like laughing at ourselves. Pure gold superwog!
Yep. I’m Chinese Australian and I love the Aussie (mine) sense of humour. The irreverence. We need more of this and that’s why countries like the USA are f$cked. They take things too seriously.
In the 60s there were many Immigrants from Greece & Italy. At school they were all called WOGS. Most at my school did not mind that much and wore it like a Badge of Honor. Many were great Families. So this show is in the theme of how they would/still talk and think.
@@sportsfanivosevic9885it was no more of an insult than calling the British poms or the American's yank, the new Zealanders kiwis, if Australians bother to give your people a name, it means we respect you
You are wrong, they didn't like being called a Wog. Its only the newer Generation that use it as a badge of honour as you call it. But a lot of the older Wogs as you call them, still hate it to this day including LaPaglia's from Adelaide who are actors today and Anthony states he hated it and doesn't want to live in Australia anymore because of that. Just like the African Americans in the past wanted to wipe out the N word and died to get it removed, but the younger generation use it like its a badge of honour. I frankly think it shouldn't be a badge of honour as the N word should be gone as for Wog, I don't care either way as I change from a Wog to a Skip when I feel like it. Yes I am from an Italian Background and my parents are Italians. Its a word you shouldn't use out of respect for the older Italians as they worked hard to achieve a status in Australia, more so than any other ethnic group.

"Wog" is a general slang term for the many Greek, Italian and Lebanese ppl who have migrated to Australia since the 1950s, and their descendants who were born here. It can be used in an affectionate or insulting way, depending on the context. If 'wogs' take the piss out of themselves, as they do in this video, you know it's ok to laugh along 😊
My girlfriend married an Italian. When they visit, he says, “Wog boy has arrived.” lol When I became a grandmother he wanted to be called, Poppa Wog, lol.

A lot of police do have a sense of humour and use witty banter to disarm a law breaker and prevent a volatile situation developing. It's hard to be angry or violent when you are smiling or laughing. I have five cousins in the police force. This is a great show.
I have nothing but respect for the cops. Had numerous dealings with them as my son is seriously mentally ill. ( had to call many times to have him removed from the home and returned to hospital.) They always, always found ways to engage him to go voluntarily with them.
@@indigocheetah4172 thank you. It was a very difficult time. He has since stabilized. ( still very unwell, but not combative any more. ) I so appreciated the care the police gave to him and the rest of the family. Really doesn't give a true picture of what they or families deal with. ( at one point, it was 3 times a week to our home. )
It's not making fun of police so much as it is the "wog", a generic racial slur Australians use to mean person of Mediterranean descent, Greeks, Italians, Macedonians, etc. The main character here is a very cliche look at certain types of people in certain areas of the country, like a "typical Bankstown wog" (and several other suburbs in the inner west). So its more poking fun at "what would happen if a wog joined the force" rather than "this is how our cops are". In my opinion, the "Superwog" series appeals to a larger generally less educated, more racist and xenophobic audience, that is the stereotypical general population here in Australia, and gives them an excuse to be unashamedly who they are. As far as Australian traffic policing, highway patrol in particular, especially here in Sydney, are quite formal, strict, and unforgiving. Example, I left for work in a rush one morning, my brother had borrowed my car the night before. I was on a provisional license which required the display of "P plates", my brother was not, so he would take them off and often not put them back on when he'd finished. So Highway patrol gets me as I'm going to work. No forgiveness whatsoever after I explained what happened. Maximum penalty and fine given.
This is Superwog! (yet another) spin off from the comic geniuses of western Sydney, who gave us ‘Fat Pizza’ and ‘Housos’!- telling it like it is in the immigrant-laden suburbs of inner and outer western Sydney. Check out these two (or is it three?) appallingly politically incorrect comedy series! Believe me, it gets much, much worse! (And no, Aussie cops are not like this… but you might see a more accurate representation of them (maybe?) in ‘Housos’ or ‘Fat Pizza’. (Note: Someone who lives in state provided housing (‘housing commission’ - or what they call in the UK, a ‘council flat’ or ‘the projects’, might be called, in Aussie slang, a ‘houso’).
They are 1000 times worse. Only the lowest IQ, obese, psychologically damaged, and the unusually short, are recruited to work as cops. They are putrid- I don't have any kind of record, undertaken 8 yrs at university BUT I LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD.
Aussie Highway Patrol don't talk this way. But is probably what they feel like saying. These guys are doing typical Greek Aussie humour! That bald Aussie is not on ICE, just reacting to BS.
Seen a few comments on the term wog, if it was good bad and or indifferent, it was all of em, depending who said it and who they say it around. You didn't call someone a wog to.their face but would refer to them as a wog "the neighbours are wogs". In 1969 I arrived in Australia as a 10yr old "pom". Lived in Canterbury - Bankstown, large numbers of Italian, Greek, Lebanese immigrants and I quickly learned I was now a whinging pom and the other immigrants were wogs. Lost the English accent real quick and blended in with the Aussie kids, hated the pom nic name but quick to call someone a wog if an insult was called for and they were "New Australian".
Yeah, Aussie of Italian background. This is straight up an example of inner city Sydney "dialect." Its ironic on a few levels. Because while we might exaggerate for effect, believe it or not, there are a lot of people who really do speak and behave this way. This is why stereotypes are so funny; because theres a genuine reason behind them.
Accent of the cops is that of sons of Greek Migrants who grew up in Greek expat parents household here in Aussie but learned English at school. Italian Aussies are similar with accents.
