To those who may be saying the original had a bit more force behind it :
if memory serves, the original JP voice lines weren't recorded by voice actors, but by the dev team, as they were under tremendous time and budget constraints. While the EN localization team was also mostly production-related, they could afford to spare a bit more time and effort on the voice lines' delivery.
(In an interesting reversal, the 3DS games' JP voice actors had, in my opinion, a far better delivery than the EN version.)
Hopefully the translator doesn't mess up...

That’s actually somewhat untrue. Phoenix Wright in the first four games was voiced by Ben Judd-not an actor by any means, but a member of the translation team as a Capcom employee. Miles Edgeworth was voiced by Seon King, who was in the same boat-and so on.
The same goes for the rest of the characters. The English versions of the DS games were all voiced by staff as well, just like the Japanese version.
Maybe I’m misreading your comment, because you mentioning that the JP voices weren’t from actual VAs kind of implied that you were saying the EN voices were. Correct me if I’m wrong and you didn’t mean that!
But I can at least agree that it’s possible the EN voices probably had more time to give better delivery for their sound bytes, but we don’t know how much time the EN team had to work on the game compared to how long the JP developers had. Some localizations get rushed as well.
@@komarunaegi7460 You did indeed slightly misinterpret this. I specified the EN cast were "mostly production-related", as in, they also weren't obligate voice actors, but they definitely had a greater focus on "translating a performance/story" than on "creating and delivering a game". Besides, no matter how short the localization timeframe may have been, the JP crew had 10 months (originally _6_ ) to get the first game out the door from the ground up. That is the stuff of legends, especially with such a skeleton crew (7 people!!).

I prefer the EN voices in the original games, but it makes sense that their team had a bit more time to refine their delivery-while the JP developers deserve a lot of respect for managing to rush out a game like this in such a short timeframe with little to no issues with so few people.
It’s definitely a form of practice that shouldn’t be celebrated or replicated, though-it’s definitely an amazing feat, but we’ve seen time and time again how rushed games or anime can cause a production team to suffer, along with the final product, regardless of how amazing their skills are. Most rushed projects don’t end up like Ace Attorney, so we should treat it as a passing miracle-I’m sure the devs themselves wouldn’t want to deal with a work environment that intense again.

I think it's just because "Objection" has less syllables that it sounds slightly better. Though, it does sound stronger, you're right.
Also the beat was made with objection in mind, so makes sense it would fit better
@@cheshire2348 I don’t think that the syllable length is the problem as Objection Funk has delays that I don’t think were taken into account like at 0:39 where a SMALL most likely eighteenth note delay would make a world of difference in making it on time and punchier in that instance.
That being said Payne’s “Objection” is a LOT less hard hitting in Japanese due to that voice actor’s performance of the line.
「異議あり」だと「い」がいちばん強くなるが、"Objection"だと"jec"がいちばん強くなる。Objection Funkだとjecにあたるところが、日本語版だといちばんアクセントの強い「い」ではなく「ぎ」になっているため、なんとなく相対的に弱い印象を受けるのではないかと思った。個人的には、「異議あり」が「異議/あり」ではなく「異/議あり」という切れ目になるのも違和感があるが、異議あり！ファンクにはとても愛を感じるし、耳慣れたボイスでObjection Funkが聞けるのはとても嬉しい。

0:39 I think something feels off RIGHT HERE due to not cutting the statement into their three syllables as the first two are together while the last syllable is cut by I think a sixteenth note of delay which makes it on time.
This being said the Manfred section doesn’t hit as hard due to the “JECT” of the “OBJECTION” not being as coldly performed. That’s just kinda unavoidable.
