- Hazel is one of the coolest Mac apps for productivity geeks I've come across. If you like the idea of automatically moving and renaming documents on your computer, then this is the app for you (and that's just the beginning). Read more here: paulminors.com...
Read my getting started guide here:
Nice video, very friendly but there are too many videos like this, explaining how to organize, sort and rename PDF and other documents so, here's my request... You should do a video showing ALL of your rules on Hazel. I'd like to add some interesting rules to my Mac. Greetings from Venezuela and sorry for my English
Was looking all over for renaming files with date in content and here it is Thanks.
You're welcome 😀
I've been using Hazel for more over 5 year and all I've done is move files around from my Downloads folder. Thanks for the insights to what else Hazel can do.
Happy to share!
Great video. You should do more advanced Hazel videos because I am looking for some good ideas and there are no videos except for beginner vids.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to work on more videos in the new year so will see what I can do.
Really, really helpful. I was trying to set up exactly the same thing as what your first rule did. Thanks!!! Any chance of a peek behind the curtain of your Workflows rules?
Thanks so much for the lesson on hazel. i am wondering what are the advantages/disadvantages to using Hazel instead of Mac's Smart Folders?
A reason why Hazel did not accept the policy number could be the "0"or "O". Both look very similar but it could be a number or a letter. OCR often reads it wrong.
Ah, thanks Klaus!
Awesome!Paul!
Thank you! very helpful video. I love Hazel by the way.
I have a question - in comparison with Automator, which is free, what Automator cannot do that Hazel can? From what I understand - Hazel is just like forked Automator for files and folders, while automator is so much more. Am I wrong here?
So what's the point of buying Hazel if you have Automator for free?
Hazel is much easier to use and works like Rules for email. Simple for the simple user.
hey paul thnk u really cool and helpful just geting to grips with hazel ... im trying to work out a set of rules for my digital photography archive which over the years has become a mess ;(
This is a great guide. Thanks!
Thanks 😀
please let me know how to set up an apple script with Cisdem PDF Converter OCR (link: www.cisdem.com/pdf-converter-ocr-mac.html
I've tried already to change the info regarding the app but no success...any thoghts?
Did you ever figure out why the OCR wasn't working? I would hate to have to go through the trouble of tagging all my files to make Hazel work.
I can't remember as this video was a while ago, but watching it back I believe it was to do with mis-naming of the tags.
Hi Poul
Can Hazel be used to trigger a specific action on a file for example every 48 hours.
is it usable for external drives , to sort through them??
Thanks for explain. Regards
Great workflow. Any chance to break down the Automator script. I have a hard time locating creating it. I have DT3 Pro. Thanks
Hi Morty, sure can you please contact me here: paulminors.com/contact/
Paul, I have 3 years of receipt to organize! Thanks to your video I will be able to do it using Hazel instead of manually sorting them. How can I send you an email, would like to speak with you?
What did you use to shrink your toolbar down to three dots?
I think I is using the Bartender application.
Can you help with an apple script for OCR with Adobe Acrobat?
I'm not great with Apple Script I'm afraid.
Can hazel rename pdf files based on the cover name of the book? Thank you for this video!
Paul Minors thank you Paul, if possible could you test this theory and make a video of it? I would really really appreciate it soooo much! Thank you for your uploads and hard work!
Paul Minors thank you sooooo much!
