This was the first Graham solo song i've ever heard, then I discovered all his music and became a massive Graham fan, it's unbelivable how talented and amazing he is!!
I wish the music would play by itself Shredded fingers, no ideas I wish this rainy day could be the last Could the world end? What a God send I wish I could stop wishing you were here But I don't want to 'cause I'd still want you I wish I didn't feel so flipping mad Don't wanna scare you, just wanna love you I wish my life could last a thousand years Then I'd be clever and build a heaven I wish I could bring Nick Drake back to life He'd understand, hold my hand I wish a constant stream of happy shit Live forever in world of leather I wish the rain would just leave me alone I can't wear that stupid rain hat I wish I was in California Pernod perfume in the Danube I wish the thing of love meant just one thing Cinderella, salmonella
noel's songs might be more popular than graham's, but i think graham's songs are much more varied and less boring. both are still great musicians though :D
But that's my point. If you analyse their playing styles, Graham Coxon is a great inventor of memorable riffs - play Parklife, Charmless Man, Beetlebum on a guitar, and you recognise the song instantly - whereas Noel Gallagher usually just strums or plays arpeggios, and buries the song in multiple guitar overdubs in the hope that we won't notice how anonymous the accompaniment is. Wonderwall is arguably an exception, but it's still just anonymous strumming - it's not a full-blown riff.
I know all guitar playing isn't about solos - that's why I think it's funny that Noel Gallagher, who claims to think that Coxon is a better player than he is, sprays or rather sprayed his own playing all over Oasis's records, whereas Graham Coxon tended to be much more economical. Gallagher should have learned from Coxon instead of just paying lip service.
Always liked his playing. I think it's funny that Noel Gallagher thinks that Graham Coxon is the best guitarist of his generation - if that's the case, Noel, how come you solo all the way through the song and Graham doesn't?
he really improved throughout the last 20 years, i highly recommend you to listen to his albums: happiness in magazines (2004), love travels at illegal speed (2006), the spinning top (2009), the end of the f*cking world tv show soundtrack (2018) and his new duo project with musician Rose-Elinor Dougall "The Waeve" which album debut will be released this weekend

Shredded fingers, no ideas
I wish this rainy day could be the last
Could the world end? What a God send
I wish I could stop wishing you were here
But I don't want to 'cause I'd still want you
I wish I didn't feel so flipping mad
Don't wanna scare you, just wanna love you
I wish my life could last a thousand years
Then I'd be clever and build a heaven
I wish I could bring Nick Drake back to life
He'd understand, hold my hand
I wish a constant stream of happy shit
Live forever in world of leather
I wish the rain would just leave me alone
I can't wear that stupid rain hat

I think Noel's are more famous because he's more of a media character.

Quite poor. Still, respect to the guy for his highly influential work with Blur.
