    You will not be able to "fly" these vehicles, you will pay a fee to be a passenger while "autopilot" does it's thing. No way they'll allow people to fly unrestricted.

      People can already fly small planes on their own lol, depending on the weight that's the only difference here. You can see tons of air holes in the car and I'm not sure if that's how it will be irl but if so yeah that's to drop the weight as much as possible

    Considering the horrible driving reputation of people, I hope this only becomes available to people with actual flying experience.
    EDIT: For those of you who says that it can just use autopilot, the FAA has restrictions regarding how close to the ground autopilot can be used for which is still much too high. On top of this, autopilot, with current technology, can only assist the person. Not act in place of a pilot. That said, you would still need to be certified as a pilot to be able to fly the car UNLESS they made exceptions.

      @@afsah3305 In theory, yes, in reality, no. Flying is very different from regular driving. This is not something you would want some dumb rich kid handling the car or even people in general. The FAA will come down on those that makes the smallest mistake because they have to think of all the other aircraft in the air. Even if this is just hovering.

      Theoretically the safest flying cars will have to be bumper cars. The kind that if they hit one another they bounce back and go their way. At least that would be the only possible solution for the many irresponsible ppl out there who cannot obey simple traffic laws

      @@InSilico-zc9wmthe fact of the matter is: when flying cars become more abundant, so too will be accidents in the sky. while you may need a aircraft license to fly, it may be different than commercial licenses like how semi truck drivers have a different license than the regular ones and compared to motorcycle licenses hence for the mass consumerisms, getting a pilot license will be easier than a commercial license to fly.
      much better to let flying cars go on autopilot.

    That means you won't only need a drivers license but a pilots license because it is actually illegal to operate an airbore capable vehicle in the US and elsewhere without a pilot license.

    This is where transportation is moving. But hurdles ate making iy safe for everyone by making flying accessable to all people and tegulating air traffic. But imagine you can travel to work in 5 minute rather than sitting in traffic for 2 hours. Keep up the good work, I believe in mordern engineering, for every problem we have solutions, let's excel the human race.

      That could be achieved with better designed low cost ground based public transportation systems. If you get thousands of people in air, you get massive congestions in the air (who said you'd be the only one with such a "car"?) - that's not to mention the possibility of "car rains", considering how you need a constant full sphere situational awareness to be safe there. To move individual traffic from the ground and up into the skies is one of the stupidest ideas yet.
