Story 1: Yea OP was an AH for using his GF in his revenge but he's NTA for feeling left out of the family when they left him out of the family. And holy shit that therapist is awful. Yea you don't let your family dictate your self worth but you certainly don't absolve them from blame.
Story 1. Esh. Emma and the parents are for constantly stealing the lawn light the parents are for enabling her and always putting Op on the back burner. Op is because I get why he wanted to be petty with his sister and his mom and dad the thing is though he drug Katie into it without her consent. That was extremely unfair to Katie.
S1: I'm glad you grew but the original problems were never solved. I get wanting to have a relationship with family but it doesn't seem like they want one with op. The sister is clearly the golden child.
Katie kinda annoyed me with how she pulled the "keep the peace, go to this event that's all about your sister when I know you just had her ruin your event." She wanted OP to "be the bigger person" and then got mad when the doormat didn't lay flat anymore. There eat no mention that sister ever apologized or acknowledged that what she did was shitty, and now everyone is mad she's being treated the way OP was taught by her is OK to treat people. Was it childish and petty? Yeah maybe, but I'm not going to demonize OP for finally giving his sister a taste of her own medicine. His entire family sucks, he's better off cutting them off and focusing on himself. EDIT: How lovely, Reddit successfully gaslit OP into being the doormat to his emotionally abusive family. Way to go!
I'm hoping that him choosing to focus on his career and hobbies is the first step to him placing boundaries and distancing himself from that toxic ass family.
Story 2 Time to show everyone how Tim and Meg are treating Mary and James so everyone can see their true colors and favoritism with the step kids……… Tim has decided his perfect new family is more important than his own bio kids. Meg wants Mary and James out of the house and family so the house and family only has Tim, Meg and her kids………
Story 2. I have seen this happen a lot. Don't worry, Tim will get his. Eventually, when his new family is done with his support, they will throw him away. He will cry to his kids and family, but they will ignore him. He will end up alone and miserable, wondering why this happened to him. I always feel bad for the kids, but the grandparents seem to always step up at least
Story 1: I understand where OP's coming from but I don't understand why he didn't talk it out with Katie before executing his plan. Years of favoritism and the fact that Emma did steals OP's thunder, her behavior is quite literally supported by everyone, all of them are awful. For God's sake, even when rebuilding relationship, neither Emma nor his parents ever apologize to OP for anything. That's not reconciling, that's just OP letting everyone walking all over him again just like in the past
He said it was a spontaneous idea. With how upset he was at that moment, OP didn't even consider Katie because he was just too focused on getting back at his sister.
Am i the only 1 who thought he was valid from the start? The special treatment his sister got was obvious by the fact he thought steam rolling his girlfriend like that was absolutely okay. Being 2nd best all your life would make anyone snap at some point. 🤷♀️
This guy is great! What he needs to do is to accept that he got what he wanted. I had full attention. Take it! Hold your head high! You did what you should have done.
Story 1 op shouldn’t have used his gf in revenge but he should cut out the family and not accept the blame for everything he should’ve made post on Facebook etc showing everything that his parents stole to give Emma
re: Story 1 -- why is OP the AH? Why is it his fault he's "holding onto resentment" for his parents treating him like crap his whole life? Why is he the one who has to "deal with his own insecurities" and "work on himself" to "be the bigger person" and "let go of his resentment"? Particularly when it was his parents who created the situation in the first place?
I think that he is an AH because he decided to propose at that day just to spite Emma. If he had talked it out with his gf beforehand, like, I want to one up my sister, let's announce that we are engaged, and she agreed, I wouldn't have any problems with it
S1: Slight ESH. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. If the sister can't stand getting her attention stolen, then she shouldn't be doing it to someone else. Still, I feel bad for OP's partner. I get the petty revenge, but putting an innocent party in this just rubs me the wrong way. S2: YTA imo. Tim abandoned his kids for anyone to do god knows what to them, allowed his girlfriend to mistreat his kids, and...you lay on your hands on her and not your brother? At the end of the day she's just the girlfriend and doesn't have to have a relationship with them (don't mistreat kids of course but I find it messed up how Meg got physically attacked for way less than Tim).
Katie kinda deserved it TBH, she demanded he appease his toxic family and go into a situation she knew would upset him because of how his family treated him in the exact same situation.
story one: reddit coming to another woman's defense so she can avoid responsibility as usual. definitely a dick move towards his fiance but the sister had it coming.
Story one: Wow, what a "success" story. /s Everything just went right back to the way it was, only now OP is alone to boot. Try having an ounce of self-respect and ditching that trash fire of a "family" instead.
*STORY 2:* Meg's definitely being hypocritical about the situation. She says she doesn't want to be a parental figure for James and Mary, but based on how they describe family time, she definitely expects Tim to be a parental figure for her kids.

Story 1 makes my blood boil. Reddit gaslit this man into acepting blame for years of mistreatment.
I gess that was pure women thoughts
Yeah I can’t understand their reaction. But let’s be clear, he was an asshole to his girlfriend. The rest of the family he should go no contact with

And can we get the name of the therapist so we can stay far tf away from them.
@@ИвнСергеевичI had to think so. Because wtf

Fair, but he went about it wrong. He proposed to his girlfriend at the wrong time for the wrong reason.
OP in S1 went at it wrong. What he needs to do now is to be a monk.
