I read 📚 Ultimate X-men back in the 2000s Plattsburgh Upstate New York and Old Man Logan 👴 back in the 2010s right here in Raleigh, North Carolina 😅 Cool 😎 👌 👍 Interview 🎉❤
I've never seen an interview with Mark Millar. I really enjoyed this. He's very personable. Hearing him talk about comics, he exudes a childlike excitement and wonder for the medium, which is so fun.
That's why I respect Millar even if I dislike most of is comics because everything he does seems to come from a true place of earnest love for is job. Even if I don't like is work I always feel is trying is best.
How is this interview not absolutely blowing up? I don't care whether you're a fan or in a more skeptical camp, this deserves attention. And you got an hour?
His work is plenty popular. Though I'd argue with the other comment and say he's great at premises, but his work often falls into over the top edge or rushes its premise's end.
@@clairestanfield-ui1fgyou are definitely an outlier. Civil War, Old Man Logan, Kick-Ass, Wanted, Red Son, Ultimates…and all the movies/shows based off of his material…
He’s great at concepts, but I tend to hate his actual finished work; I almost always like what other people do with his concepts and characters a whole lot more than what he does with them; so I actually have no interest in what he has to say, especially because I seriously doubt Sasha intends to ‘call him on his bs’, and will just be polite, and open-minded, like she always is…
Awesome get Sasha!! It really felt less interview, more conversation between comic book enthusiasts! Mark my words (yes, pun) - within 3 yrs you'll be either hosting a panel or hired as a presenter by one of the Big Companies at ComiCon or one of those big conventions!
This is the best comics RUclips channel, right now. No propaganda, no shilling, no BS, just real talk, real comics. Congrats! And keep up the amazing work. 🍻
This was an amazing conversation, Sasha. Loved how *casual* it was, Mr. Millar was a delightful interviewee and you were an awesome host. Congratulations 🎉
@@CasuallyComics Your incisive analysis and just profound enjoyment of comics is really infectious and it doesn't surprise me at all that comic creators are a fan.
Sasha, congratulations on another fantastic interview. When Mark said so many creators follow your channel, I was ecstatic to hear that. It shows that your quality and passion shines through and hits the mark with so many of us.
A very nice wee natter! Thanks for a wide-ranging interview with a writer who has fascinated me since his SWAMP THING run. Awesome to see the impact you are having in this greater community of creators and comic lovers! Keep it Casual!🖖♾
Truthfully I haven't actually read much of his work but I did really like that interview show he had talking to other comic creators and this is a crazy crossover
Casually Comics is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the non stop cynical comic/geek you tube channels. Finally someone who can share her love for comics and dig deep into the history, lore, of the stories as well as different creative efforts by writers, artists and producers. GREAT Interview and great channel all together.
Thank you! I didn't know about cover browser and it's exactly what I needed. I can remember every story I've ever read but can't always remember the title. This gives the mental link I need to find whatever story jumps up in my brain.
What a knock out interview Sasha, super fun! SO proud of you and Mark is right -- theres a reason these pros are familiar with your channel. You approach everything with nuance and intrigue. You really promote genuine discussion in your community and I am here for it!!
I made his forum avatar many years ago. It was a photoshop of him on Reeve's body in Superman 3, drinking in a bar. This was before his Crohn's diagnosis when his two loves aside from his family were Superman and booze.
I think I read Superior and then Starlight, and then Nemesis and the Unfunnies next, so that was real tonal whiplash. Even later, I read The Ultimates, The Authority, and more recently Superman Adventures, and these too have different tones. I've found myself sort of going backwards through Mark Millar's career now that I've read most of Millarworld lol. A lot of people claim Mark Millar only writes in 1 way, and pigeonhole him as a specific type of writer, but that's just untrue. While I've noticed some themes, tropes, or ideas that he reuses sometimes, he's still able to vary the tone of his writing overall. I imagine if I read a lot of comics written by another writer, I'd also find similarities in their writing across a majority of their books.
I remember Mark from his work on 2000ad in the 90's. I still don't know why People hated his RoboHunter run. I brought the secret service when it came out because it had Dave Gibbons art. Any 2000ad reader since it started adores him and Brian Bolland art wise.
I loved the first volume of JLA, through the later 1970s into the 1980s till the end of volume 1. And I loved All-Star Squadron, especially with Jerry Ordway, and Infinity Inc. volume 1 and Young All-Stars. And the DC 80s Blue Beetle, Question and Captain Atom. I really liked the Man of Steel with George Byrne too.
This is a great time for access to anything, but it can be overwhelming lol, you basically got to pick, "what are you reading. This is what I aim investing my free time in". Currently reading my Classic X-Men and am big into Skybound Hasbro stuff (GIjoe, Cobra commander, Destro, Transformers).
This is so crazy I’ve been looking for interviews with Mark Milar for months because I recently took a moment and realized he’s made most of the VERY popular/seminal marvel books. What a crazy coincidence the day I decide to check again is when you post this. Awesome content as always!😊
A ferd??? I protest! Sorry, my handle harkens back to Rowan and Martins' Laugh In TV show from the 60s. Some awesome interviews lately, would love to see more like this.
This interview was a delight. I have read a few of mark millar's titles and he pushes some character into uncomfortable places, but I have had my fun while reading.
WHAT?! That's so crazy you got to interview Mark Millar! Geoff Johns & Mark Millar are probably my favorite 2 writers. The questions you asked were pretty good. I really got into the Millarworld stuff maybe 2 years ago after Perch, Thinking Critical, and other channels interviewed him a bunch in the span of a few weeks or months.
I love that Millar says straight up...we pirated the shit out of this stuff. I don't feel so bad. In fact he made me feel its cool to buy digitally too. I read most of Millar's earlier work, but almost nothing outside of Kick Ass in Millarworld. I'm going to go swoop every trade I can on my favorite comic seller site.
My LCS fills a vintage spinner rack with all ages dollar comics, which I think is brilliant. Nice interview, Super Sasha! Any chance you could get an interview with Jim Steranko?
He recently did another YT interview (with Comics buy Perch) and addressed this. In Scotland it's pronounced "Mill-er," while here in the US, many people pronounce it "Mill-AR."
Man, I have Mark Millar. He goes and writes some of the best independent comics out there and what does he do next? He sales the naming rights to Hollywood and screws over his fans who go watch movies and TV shows based on his comics.
I was gonna check out some of his Dark Horse books, especially since he stood up for that comic shop owner, but they killed that for me after they announced they’d be publishing Alex de Campi. Sorry, Mark. I just can’t give them money. Good job on the interview btw.

Girl! You are getting ALL the cool interviews these days!
How is this interview not absolutely blowing up? I don't care whether you're a fan or in a more skeptical camp, this deserves attention. And you got an hour?
His work is not popular enough i would guess. My self i've never read anything he has wrote🤔🤔
Claire you need to. He's one of the best comic writers in the world.

Holy jesus😮, the man who is basically in charge of creating a completed wolverine vs hulk fight and dozens of Hollywood movies🎉
This was one of the most fun comic creator interviews I have seen.
It was fun to do :)
This was an amazing conversation, Sasha. Loved how *casual* it was, Mr. Millar was a delightful interviewee and you were an awesome host.
Congratulations 🎉
I’m so happy for your success Sasha, this will be a fun interview
His Superman Adventures comics are some of the best Superman comics out there
SCORE! Congrats Sasha on having an amazing interview with a great creator! Looking forward to even more of this in the future.
Wow, that's so cool how he just told you that all these comic creators who you are a fan of, are also fans of you! 😅
Very humbling!

Killin' it with these interviews!!! This was really great. Mark is such an awesome and fun guy to listen to. Thanks for this, Sasha!!
You are killing it these days with amazing interviews!!
This is incredible! Thank you for your work!

I feel validated as a nerd after finding out you and Millar love both comics and Star Trek 😁
~_~
Truthfully I haven't actually read much of his work but I did really like that interview show he had talking to other comic creators and this is a crazy crossover
Great interview with Millar, what an exciting creator. Sasha talking about star trek would be awesome!
My first exposure to Mark's work was reading the Superman Adventures tie-ins when I was a kid. Been a big fan ever since.
That issue 'This is a Job for Superman.' Best Superman story ever.
Great series
I read them for the first time this summer. They’re really good!
Absolutely loved this episode.
This is such an amazing interview. So much great information and insights from both you.
Glad to see you getting the recognition!

Mark is such a sweetheart
Holy crap Sasha!
He's absolutely right about how the next live action Batman should take inspiration from the O'Neil-Adams and Englehart-Rogers-Austin runs.
CC, please keep doing your thing. Your channel has been refreshing when compared to other comic-like channels in this corner of the internet🚰
Now this is saucy. His work needs to be studied, needs to be put in a museum
lmaoo
Fantastic interview Sasha! I loved Mark's work on Swamp Thing!!
Thank You for this amazing content. I've learned so much that I was clueless about before.
You've really leveled up. Congratulations!

I loved The Magic Order. It's so good.
I don't care what they say about you...
YOU ROCK!
Looking froward to this one. You've been stepping up your game. Very proud of you for your success, Sasha!

Damn I’m early! Love to see you interview a famous comic writer!
Superboy? One of my guilty pleasures is Dave Cockrum's Superboy and the LoSH. The illustration blew my young mind.
I love that Millar says straight up...we pirated the shit out of this stuff. I don't feel so bad. In fact he made me feel its cool to buy digitally too. We needs a Nemesis series on Amazon or Netflix
After hearing Millar talk through a podcast I start ending all my statements as questions
Good hairstyle. Good interview
My LCS fills a vintage spinner rack with all ages dollar comics, which I think is brilliant.
Nice interview, Super Sasha! Any chance you could get an interview with Jim Steranko?
King of Spies was awesome!
Nemesis and Jupiter are both great stories
If you don't know what they are talking about- Go check out some of the titles they talked about in the conversation....
Join our Kool kid club.
I think he should write Pirate comics! Mill-ARRRR!
woo!
sounds like nemesis is like evil dead, the second one is sort of a remake of the first one. i still need to read the second one
Mark is so cool.
Sasha, doing interviews with creators is a good idea! You're very good in conversation.
it would be so difficult to have opinions on art if i knew the creators.
Amazing Content.
Starlight CAN be a Pixar movie! Hey Disney! Make it happen!
Apparently, I really have been mispronouncing his name all this time...I mean, its spelled "MillAR", fer crying out loud!😅
He recently did another YT interview (with Comics buy Perch) and addressed this. In Scotland it's pronounced "Mill-er," while here in the US, many people pronounce it "Mill-AR."
Empress is awesome.
Wat! Lol no way! Nemeses was the bomb and its Mil Larr lmao kidding Love hes work
awesome

I'm a little disappointed there was no time spent on "Red Son."
Always good to see Mark Millar content that isn't 'ermagerhd what a problematic edgelord!'.
You’re awesome
Omg 😮😮😮😮
Fun interview with plenty of shared geekery.
Ever since i picked up a Manga book!... i could never ever enjoy a modern comic ever again!
Please get Rob Liefeld next!
Omg!!🙀🙀
'Tis I !
I’ve noticed some of the nicest creators make the most unhinged and deranged material. Interesting contrast lol.
I mean Ennis is probably one of the nicest people in the industry. That said David Sims is not.
I was gonna check out some of his Dark Horse books, especially since he stood up for that comic shop owner, but they killed that for me after they announced they’d be publishing Alex de Campi. Sorry, Mark. I just can’t give them money.
Good job on the interview btw.
TIL it's not Mill-are.
No waaay
i like mark miller as a person, but not kick-ass.
