“I have a brilliant idea. I’ll intentionally overwhelm and stress out the most powerful teenager on the planet, that’s definitely gonna end well for me.” Grace probably
"And if that doesn't work, I can always threaten to lock him up unless he complies. Trust me Butcher this is gonna go so well" Also Grace
@@ennieminymoo6675 didn’t even think of the fact that she literally threatened him lol.
Mallory so old bro 🙏😭
It’s just so out of character for her man. I know they needed to give Butcher that development at the end of the episode but wish they did it a little different.
Unless Grace was an actual real Grand-Mother who actually cared for him(In this case Ryan follows his dad's footsteps), Soldier Boy was right afterall
For a CIA agent, Grace is absolutely unprofessional. Imagine laying all that on a literal child expecting him noto to have an outburst and being overwhelmed
And she had the audacity to call butcher useless assistance in the beginning of the season
I think she felt she was didn't have much time. Newman was about to become President and then Mallory would be arrested. She had to get Ryan on her side as soon as possible, causing her to overwhelm Ryan with too much information.
CIA agents aren’t hired for their tact and empathy.
i think it was portrayed as desperation out of the loss of her grandkids. she wasnt thinking rationally
She panicked.
Grace was acting more like Butcher than Butcher himself.
Butcher was peak dad till Grace went full woman mode
Maybe producers got tired of hiring her and wanted to save some money for season 5
@newhybrid101 If "women mode" is telling the truth and not beating around the bush anymore then I love it

In the words of Tony Stark, not a great plan.
Poor screenwriting. S4 is a**
It felt like they had 7 episodes of filler and bad writing for the last episode. The whole season felt like it was just to make season 5 better

It's really not that bad
not even that bad for him
If they had just let Ryan leave willingly, he probably would have come back. They blundered this
Nah just Grace, Butcher was shockingly the more reasonable person in this scene
He definitely would have come back.
exactly what i've been saying. if they had let him leave he'd most likely have come around, but instead mallory had the bright idea to do ryan EXACTLY as they did homelander
they didnt have time, neuman was about to be president what would mean that butcher and mallory would be arrested, Ryan was their last chance.
No Grace shouldn’t have dumped EVERYTHING on to Ryan. He’s a very family oriented person he’s not going to turn on his father so easily
The snap wasn’t Grace’s neck, it was Butcher’s heart🥲
But also Grace's neck. And back. And possibly rib cage.

It was obvious already. Why would he even want to go back to his dad. Where is he gonna go alone either.
that's why Ryan ran away from him, but he's still his father. Same reason Ryan's the only one his father has a soft spot on.
@BortaMaga HL has no soft spot for anyone not even the son which he never wanted or consented to have since he forced Becca to have him 😂
How to NOT deal with a teenage supe in every way...
They made her weirdly irrationally in this scene. Totally out of character
Ryan is her weakness
She saw doomsday coming
I agree. Don’t know how she goes from being so calculated to so irrational.
@@Sh1ryyu No, it's just lazy writing
Remember that she lived with Ryan for about a year so he reminded her of her grandkids especially the ones she lost to Ryan's dad
“Lashes out?”
He was trying to escape a kidnapping 😂
This seems massively out of character for Grace. It's like they needed someone to make a Butcher level mistake but they couldn’t have Butcher do it.
She just pushed her luck out of the ground
This is the exact moment Butcher became Heisenberg
She could've just said, ok ill leave you boys to talk it out, see you later ryan, then walk out and shut the door, but naaaaa

@@Lord_Sunqu Doesn't change the fact that trying to imprison Ryan was obviously never going to work
2:12 that look 😢 he's definitely on Homelander's side.
No he is not. Dang…
No he's not. But here it's understandable. Like what he did those scientists who experimented & tortured him.
Ryan is on no one's side. He knows what homelander did, and butcher is no longer on his side.
They're edging that he might turn evil, but he clearly won't
The Boys fans try to remember what happened in previous episodes challenge (impossible)
I think Grcace found out (or at least find a hint) about Sage real plan and knew they were running out of time (which shows to be true with the ending) This was her last chance, i understand why she acted like this, she was truly desperate

I thought she was one of thé smartest character of thé séries but i was so wrong lol didn’t they learned with Homelander
Desperation not stupidity
To be fair things were looking bleak. I suppose she let her emotions get the better of her
The writers needed Ryan to do something shocking smh
Mallory: I can seal us in here, flood the room with halothane, and we all take a nice, long nap.
Ryan: nah you can take that nice, long nap yourself
Does halothane even work on Ryan? Wasn't Soldier Boy vaping Halothane in season 3 when MM tries to take him out? If they can't overpower Homelander, what made her think she can overpower a naturally born Supe with Homelander's powers?
Solider boy and Hl are still stronger faster and more durable than Ryan. Ryan hasn't reached his full potential yet.

This feels forced and unpressional of Mallory. The writers wasted her character this season.
I was looking forward to her interaction with Soldier Boy when he comes back because they had a bit of a chemistry in the flashback and he's into grandmothers like herself.

Soldier boy wasn't blinded by personal feelings. He just saw Ryan as another Homelander down the line.
@@Mroziukzand it turns out he was correct.... kids body count growing fast.
So a special agent, gives in to her emotions. Riiiiiiight.
She’s a woman.
This wasn’t giving into her emotions. Giving to her emotions would’ve been letting Ryan walk away. The objective was getting Ryan away from Homelander as he was their only viable contingency for him and with how close Homelander was to gaining power over the whole country she was becoming more and more desperate.
@@jayjayag2774That doesn't doesn't matter, this was so weirdly out of characther for her that it's nothing but bad writing.

It's a sign of laziness to advance plots based on chatacters acting so clearly contrary to common sense.
Well, he's teen. She's a like grandmom. It's realistic
@@user-ou9qd9no5n It's not realistic for Grace to do what she did to a teenager with the power of Homelander. That's my point.
The way she springs the demand on him and within a few short sentences makes it plain to a super-powered teenager that he is basically a prisoner. And let's not forget that he has just been told that his father *r*ped* his mum. This is Grace. She has been working with and against supes for close to 40 years. She is a trained CIA officer. It goes against her character.

Lash out? LASH out? Ryan was Clear, You had Two Choices: Either Move or BE MOVED. Clearly Mallory chose the Latter.
I’m glad this was in the thumbnail as it saves me watching it
The last piece that it took to break Butcher entirely was this. He has absolutely nothing left. No team, no friends, and no son.
Notice how Ryan said he’d be back he just needs to think
They could've definitely convinced him to help stop Homelander if they had just appealed to his humanity, but instead they treated him like a beast that needs to be caged.
I loved and hated this. It showed ryan's connection to family being drowned out by homelander's lack of humanity burned into his mind from his evil Influence.
Ryan looks so much like goresh😂😂
Old butcher would of told her to stfu and set ryan straight immediately what is going on.
Nothing 800 of Motrin and a glass of water won’t fix.

You can just tell him to calm don't and beg to talk for like 5 minutes more. Grace Mallory is not really CIA in this, she has no comm skills.
To be fair he said he will come back and still they pushed too far.
He said he just need to think and he willcome back so its totally her fault or she can just lie that its just to neutralize his father like soldier boy
Ryan became insecure because he doesn’t know who he can trust anymore. Homelander and Butcher made it difficult for him to choose. It looks like now only two people can help Ryan find his purpose, Hughie and Annie.

Really ? She's been slacking for a while. Ryan is her surrogate grandson, replacing the ones she lost, it makes sense that she would be such a softie here.
By giving Ryan no choice in his mind, they are shaping him to be someone that could end up being even more dangerous than Homelander when Ryan gets older. Imagine a Homelander unaffected by wanting to be loved or his ego.

this whole scene goes massively against the relatively calm and level-headed grace we've seen in previous seasons, and while i could feasibly believe she was just desperate, the fact that we never see her progression from who she was last season to now makes this whole scene feel really weird and abrupt, like reversing a season-long arc at the last moment because the writers didnt want to commit to it or something. i can only believe grace might have had an actual character arc in earlier drafts of the season that was then entirely scrapped besides this moment for whatever reason, because imo its the only reasonable way such an out-of-character moment could have made it into the final show like this
0:05 - 1:11 - 1:15 - 1:25 - 1:45 - 2:42
